Dear Mrs. Jankowsky, For my senior project, I propose that I give private cello lessons to students around
the ages of 11-14, who are associated with Evansville Association For The Blind. I will accommodate two
students with private lessons at Reiz High School. For about two months, I will work with them on
technique, and music theory every Monday and Tuesday from 3:15-4:15pm. My goal is to introduce the
cello to children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to experience one on one private music lessons.
I see this as an opportunity for them to build confidence and to discover the rewards and benefits that music
can provide.

Evansville Association For The Blind is an organization whose purpose is to 5assist visually impaired
people. They are a community of teachers and staff, teaching and helping visually impaired children and
adults to cope with their environment and surroundings. The workshop was originally established to
manufacture brooms while offering job opportunities to blind men and women. I propose John Miller, the
association of Reitz Music Department, to mentor me through my project.
Children associated with Evansville Association For The Blind receive many opportunities and support
from their community and family. Although this may be true, there is scarcity in some areas for debuts. By
offering private music lessons, the students will have the choice of exposing themselves to the rewards,
structures, and building blocks they will be acquainted with when learning a musical instrument. I cannot
wait to share the joys and self understanding that music has brought me!
