IPANEMA MIGRATION PROCEDURE

A. MIGRATION PREPARATION

A1 Ensure you have received the parcel


containing the new device IPANEMA
ip|engine 40AX and store it in a safe
place until the replacement.

A2 Identify the IT room and rack where


the old IPANEMA ip|engine 5AX is
installed and ensure you have
physical access to it.
A3 Plan the IPANEMA replacement during
business low-activity hours, in
accordance with the site
management. This operation will
involve a short network downtime.
A4 Communicate the chosen date and
time for the IPANEMA replacement to
your Country IT Manager who will
update the informational migration
planning at least 5 days in advance.
Also inform onsite users about the
network downtime.

B. MIGRATION REALIZATION (IPANEMA model 5AX 40AX)

B1 Check that the following applications Test Google :
are working: Google, GEFCO Intranet,
Email and other usual important
business applications.
If tests are OK proceed to step B2.
If tests are FAILED stop and replan the migration, see steps A3 and
A4.

B2 Install the new IPANEMA 40AX device


near the old IPANEMA device. Connect
the new IPANEMA 40AX device
electrically with the new power
supply provided in the box. Screw
the power plug.
The LED POWER must now be
green.
B3 Move carefully the cables as
indicated, one by one, from the old
IPANEMA device 5AX to the new
IPANEMA device 40AX:

WAN WAN1

LAN LAN1

MGT./EXT. WAN2

Continue the operation even if there


is no cable currently connected on
MGT./EXT.
Note, for information: The WAN1 port
connects to the OBS or T-Systems
router with a crossover cable. The
LAN1 port connects to a Cisco switch
(model 2960, 2960S, 2960X, 3750X,
2950, 2924) with a straight-through
cable. The WAN2 port connects to a
Checkpoint firewall (model UTM Edge
N, 1120, 1140, 1180) with a
crossover cable.

B4 Wait 5min and check that the
applications are working: Google,
GEFCO Intranet, Email and other
usual important business
applications.

FAILED.

B5 Unplug electrically the old IPANEMA
device 5AX. Your local IT will provide
you instructions for dealing with
electronic waste.
MIGRATION IS NOW FINISHED. THANK YOU.

C. ROLLBACK (IPANEMA model 40AX 5AX)

C2 Move back the cables as indicated,


from the new IPANEMA device 40AX
to the old IPANEMA device 5AX:

Check the cabling:

The WAN port connects to the


OBS or T-Systems router with a
network crossover cable.
- The LAN port connects to a Cisco
switch (model 2960, 2960S,
2960X, 3750X, 2950, 2924)
with a network straight-through
cable.
- The MGT./EXT. port connects to a
Checkpoint firewall (model UTM
Edge N, 1120, 1140, 1180) with
a network crossover cable.
C3 Check that the following applications Google test
are working: Google, GEFCO Intranet, Outlook test
Email and usual business
(see pictures in step B1)
applications.
If tests are OK proceed to step C4.
If tests are FAILED open an
incident to GEFCO Service Desk:
Describe the impact and say this
is due to IPANEMA migration
failed. Also do step C4 if possible.
C4 Send an email to
network.services@gefco.net and smbglobal-it-change-pilot@gefco.net to
inform about the issue.
ROLLBACK IS NOW FINISHED. THANK YOU.
