DAIKIN VRV

VRV is a commercially applied air-conditioning system

that distributes refrigerant, rather than water, to multiple
fan coil units in the conditioned spaces.
With Air Conditioning technologies being dominated by
efficiency ratings and driven by rising fuel costs, Otis
quickly realised the rapidly emerging market for VRV
technology in the Cayman Islands.
VRV Air Conditioning technology is a totally different concept to regular Air Conditioning. This
in turn requires fully trained technicians who understand the differences when installing and
repairing this equipment.
Otis Air Conditioning was quick to realise this and put together a specialist team of design,
installation and service personnel dedicated solely to Daikin VRV projects. We have become the
#1 supplier of Daikin in the Cayman Islands, also completing the largest VRV installations in the
Cayman Islands.
We have built a close relationship with Daikin US who we can rely on for support, a major
spares part inventory with Warehouses in Miami and Texas and up to date training for our
qualified technicians.

The new Generation Daikin VRV III system targets both the residential and commercial
market, new builds and retrofits.

With its virtually noise free outdoor inverter Condensing units and small footprint it can
be engineered into almost any project.

Available 3 - 30 Ton of cooling on one outdoor system the possibilities are endless for
applications.

The Daikin VRV III can perform from 100% of its duty all the way down to 4% giving
the customer huge efficiency gains.

A maximum of 62 indoor units differing in capacities and styles provide individual

comfort control and zoning.

VRV systems are available in several versions:

VRV III: Air-cooled condensing unit

VRV-WII: Water-cooled condensing unit

VRV-S: Air-cooled condensing unit

With these attributes, VRV naturally competes/positions wherever traditional chilled water
systems are desired. It has all the benefits of a high end chilled water systems within a singleprovider package eliminating the need for large plant rooms, external equipment such as large
ductwork, pumps, water pipes etc.
Daikin provides a complete engineered solution including outdoor units (condensers including
compressors and heat exchangers) and indoor fancoil units (in many different sizes and styles) as
well as the controls. When comparing the Daikin VRV system to a chilled water plant, it is
obvious to realize the ease of installation, the cost reduction of ancillary equipment, the space
and layout benefits and no need of structural reinforcement.
The VRV systems integrates cutting-edge inverter technology to give you total control over your
entire building. The intelligent inverter system gives added control over the rotational speed of
the compressor, which allows the amount of refrigerant flowing in the system to vary depending
upon fluctuating needs. This delivers maximum efficiency during partial load conditions and
provides precise temperature control in all zones.

By using inverter technology, Daikin compressors run continuously at a minimum variable speed
that matches the capacity of the current load as low as 8 % of his maximum duty. By running the
compressor continuously rather than ON/OFF, the room experiences better dehumidification and
the compressor incurs less stress.
