General Subject Area:

Waste Materials into new Products.
Specific Topic:

Development of Particle Board using Eucalyptus Leave as raw material and

isocyanate as binder
III.
Definition of the Topic
A. Importance and Significance (Rationale)
What are your reasons for conducting this study?
- To develop a new alternative raw material for particle board using Eucalyptus
Leave.
What motivates you to do this research project?
- Today, there is lots of illegal logging and cutting trees cases because it is the
common material that use in a production and there are many wastes
everywhere. Thus, I think why we should use a waste material as an
alternative raw material.
B. Manageability (Scope and Limitations)
Is the research topic within your capability?
What:

This project will benefit those who produce residues. It will also reduce
pressure on future forest resources. Most importantly, indigent people will

ones.
Particle Board has been used since 1940s, often in place of the more
expensive plywood as subflooring or instead of natural hardwood in
furniture manufacturing. At one point in its history, however, this material
was considered as inexpensive design board, reserved for use in exclusive
homes and upscale furniture factories. Modern particle board is now made
primarily by combining discarded wood shavings, chips and sawdust with
a strong resin and pressing the mixture into serviceable boards and planks.

Why:

Through this project, the researcher found that eucalyptus leaves can be
used as raw material for particle board, opening up possibilities to help

alleviate pollution and provide alternative building material.

By using agricultural waste particularly eucalyptus leaves as raw material
in particle board. Acceptable disposal methods of this residue are now
provided. Also, because eucalyptus leaves is an agricultural waste, it is
abundant anywhere in the country. Particle board made from it will
available at lower price compared to the usual ones.

C. Availability of Resources (Sources of information)

Where do you intend to get the information?
- I prefer to get information through Internet.
Primary Data: Internet
Secondary Data: Books
Others: Asking peoples ideas
IV. Expected Output/ Objectives
What do you intend to accomplish?
- To come up with a new raw material for particle board.
General Objective:
- To develop a Particle Board Using Eucalyptus Leave as raw material.
Specific Objectives:
1. To determine the material to be used
2. To improve a particle board using Eucalyptus Leaves as raw material
3. To evaluate the properties of the board such as Nail Pull Head Thru (NHPT),
Modulus of Rupture (MOR), Thickness Swelling (TS), and Water Absorption (WA)
