GENERAL

Consolidated Alarm Management Software (hereinafter called CAMS for HIS) is optional software which operates on
HIS of CENTUM CS 3000 (hereinafter called CS 3000). It acquires various kinds of alarms and events in real-time
which occur in CS 3000 system and other systems connected to CS 3000. Those alarms and events are notied
to an operator with identiers (e.g., purposes, user name, allowed time for response and alarm priority) used for
sorting and value-added information (e.g., cause of alarms and how to handle them). Operators sort by identiers
a wide variety of alarms and events used at plants, using CAMS for HIS ltering and sort functions, so that they
can receive only information they need in the most suitable timing. As a result, operators are able to perform safer,
more efcient operation.
This package offers environment in which engineering can be done in accordance with EEMUA No.191 (a guideline
concerning engineering, management and procurement of alarm system, issued by EEMUA).

FUNCTIONS

CAMS for HIS deliver optimal alarm to the right person at the right time. CAMS for HIS representative functions are
shown in the following:

Acquire a Wide Variety of Alarms and Events

It acquires alarms and events generated by CS 3000 as well as the systems connected to CS 3000, and integrate
them on HIS.

Dene Alarms and Events Attribute

For acquired alarms and events, it additionally denes value-added information including each attribute used for
message ltering and sorting (e.g., purposes, alarm priority and allowed time for response), cause of alarms and
countermeasures as new attributes.

Suppress Unnecessary Alarms and Events Issuance

It is a function to suppress unnecessary alarm and event issuance. Suppressed alarms and events here are not
displayed on CAMS for HIS message monitor (CAMS for HIS window). There are two control functions as follows:
Grouping
It consolidates associated alarms into an alarm group. The user denes the conditions for grouping alarms.
Suppression
A function to suppress unnecessary alarms all at once which are generated during plant equipment maintenance
and changeover. Operators can suppress the alarms according to the pre-dened alarm groups.

Supervise Alarm and Event Messages

Test (EEMUA No.191 Compliant)

By using CAMS for HIS, operators can integrate

process alarms, system alarms and operation guide
messages, which used to be supervised on different
windows, on one window (CAMS for HIS message
monitor). In order to enable operators to monitor only
necessary information for themselves in the most
suitable timing out of a great variety of alarms and
events given out from plants, CAMS for HIS Message
Monitor has the following functions:
Filtering
A function to lter (narrow down) displayed/monitored
messages by each attribute (user name, plant
hierarchy title, purpose alarm priority, etc.) included
in messages. Each lter is displayed in tree-view
on CAMS for HIS Message Monitor. Depending on
operators service, various sorts of lters are dened
in advance and registered on the window. It is
possible to create a new lter online by combining
already registered lters and to register it additionally
on the window.
Sorting
A function to sort messages to be displayed/
monitored by each attribute (time of occurrence,
allowed time for response, alarm priority, etc.)
included in messages.
Eclipsing
A function to fold and display a number of alarm
messages given out from one same tag in the most
important alarm message. It is effective to limit the
display of repeated alarms (HI alarm chattering, etc.)
and less important alarms (HI alarms during HH
alarm issuance, etc.).
Shelving
A function to move messages with low monitoring
priority to another folder to shelve them temporarily
or for a certain period of time. By specifying the
shelving time, it is possible to clear repeated alarms
out of main A&E Message Pane collectively.
Load Shedding
A function to automatically activate ltering specied
beforehand to prevent oods of alarms and events
in order to reduce operators monitoring load and
to prevent overlook of important alarms and false
operation, in case a number of alarms and events
happen to be given out in a short period of time.

A function to give out virtual alarms and events to test

if an alarm system is designed properly or not. It is
possible to use past alarm and event messages saved
by CAMS for HIS in addition to using CS 3000 test
function.

Alarm and Event Historian Saving

A function to save alarm and event as a historical le
for a certain period of time including attributes added
by CAMS for HIS. CAMS for HIS operation history
including suppression, shelving, conrmation and
manual recovery is also saved as event messages.

Congurator
A function to dene detailed information regarding each
alarm and event given out.
There is a function to automatically specify
recommended value for alarm detection and
priority from alarm attributes such as purpose and
consequence.
There is also a function of performance report to verify
if alarm is correctly dened.

Real-Time Alarm Monitor

It displays the number of alarms, events and the
recovered during a certain period of time (1H, 8H, 24H)
on CAMS for HIS Message Monitor.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION USING CAMS FOR HIS

An example of system conguration using CAMS for HIS is shown below.

CAMS for HIS, connected to OPC A&E server, manages messages given out not only from CENTUM but also from
STARDOM and PRM.
Alarms and events can be equalized among more than one HIS in which CAMS for HIS is installed. It is possible to
specify the range of HIS where alarms and events are equalized. In specied HIS, every alarm and event including
alarms via OPC is equalized.
There is only one download master for CAMS for HIS Congurator. Database is equalized and managed by
Download Master. Only HIS as download master can start CAMS for HIS Congurator.
