New Years Houseparty "It was one of the best weekends of my entire life!"
Now obviously this is a great encouragement to me and 267 to hear
this from a young person. But as I reflect on such wonderfully affirming
words I find myself asking "why was it the best weekend of your life?"
I think with any event that we do within youthwork it is always good to
ask why something worked but also why it worked in the way it did on
this occasion.
This years Houseparty was indeed something special. It was full
of some great times of 'hanging out', we had some great worship
gatherings, the food was awesome, human hungry hippos was as
competitive as ever, the trip to Gravity Force was epic and seeing
young people give some of the talks was truly humbling. But these
are not why i believe this years trip was so special. For me it was the
fruit of many years of investing in young people in our area. We had
students on this trip who came as leaders, after first coming as young
people when they were 14. We had young people attend who have
been coming to our Fuel and 'More?' Cafe events for years. We had
people who had simply heard about last years Houseparty and wanted
to come, we had young people who up until now had been too young
to attend!
267 has been privileged to be able to inspire a community of believers,
a community and network of youth groups and leaders and a place
where young people are valued, inspired, walked with, prayed for,
supported and given freedom to grow and flex their faith muscles. For
me it is this environment that we have been able to create and support
that means young people can have 'the best weekend of their lives".
For me youthwork is about longevity and consistency; saying you will
walk with someone, mean it and do it! As 267 reaches its 10th birthday
I thank God that what we do has an impact on the lives of young
people and my prayer is that we will continue to do this with every
ounce of energy that God sends our way.

Thanks...
l It is abundantly clear that so many people are praying for us and donating to
support our ministry. Thank you so much
l The Houseparty was such a significant time for our young people and we had
a truly blessed time together. I believe there will be much fruit from this event
and look forward to seeing some of these guys serve, speak and get involved in
Fuel and other 267 ministry
l We give thanks for Kate (one of trustees) and Hannah (a previous young
person and now keen supporter of 267) who are going to spend some time
looking at applying for grants to help fund 267s growing ministry
l I give thanks for being able to spend time with our intern Ben and also the
interns Rachel and Josh from St Pauls
l Mike gives thanks for the wonderful links he has at Youthscape in Luton.
Mike has spent time there recently and has found it hugely encouraging and
inspiring. Mike hopes to visit them regular as part of his own ongoing support
requirements. www.youthscape.co.uk
l I give thanks for our trustees: Sean,
Kate, Anne, Paul, Jane and Nigel. I give
thanks for our team: Claire, Tracy and
Ben. Without you we would not be
where we are. Thank you for your
energy, wisdom and passion to see
267 grow and the local church to be
supported and encouraged
l We give thanks for the friendship,
unity and support that exists
among the youth and childrens
leaders from across our area
Some scripture that is encouraging us at the moment:
Hebrews 12 Therefore, since we are receiving a
kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful,
and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,
for our God is a consuming fire.

The awsome
houseparty!

Please...
l Pray for our friend Dave who is building our new website. We give thanks for
all the time and energy he has given and we hope the new site will be up and
running soon
l We are really praying that God will speak to us about where we need to be
with our 267 office. With the growth of our team and in the people that want
to meet us we are finding our current space is not quite fit for purpose and we
would like a home we can grow into
l Pray for Ben, our intern, as he considers whether it is right for him to stay
longer with us (we hope he will!)
l Please pray for the planning and organising of some key events coming up:
our 7-10s Weekend, our Core overnight retreat, our Fundraising Wine Tasting
Evening and our Core Conference for Youth & Childrens Ministry
l Pray for Claire as she works on a significant new piece of ministry for 267.
We hope to be able to offer a drop-in space for those young people struggling
with anxiety and stress. Pray for all Claires planning, for the volunteers she is
gathering and for the right venue to become available
l Mike is preaching at 2 churches where we have not shared much about 267
and what we do. Pray for his visits and that 267 will be well received. Look at
our diary to see where he is visiting
