MyAPC guidelines for candidates

1. Introduction
You are about to register as an RICS trainee. Our online tool MyAPC will be your
platform for the duration of your APC until you pass the Final Assessment. These
guidelines will help you with your registration and through the whole process. An
email will be sent to you containing your log in details via an automated process
please check your junk items as this email can sometime be seen by your email
system as junk
If you enter your information incorrectly three times in succession the system will get
blocked and you will need to wait 24 hrs before you can try again.

2. Passport
Your first step will then be to fill out the APC Passport. It consists of 7 pages as
detailed below. MyAPC will automatically guide you from one page to the next.
Note 1: the information requested will depend on the route to membership. If you do
not fill in the screen correctly, an error message will pop up and will indicate those
fields you have filled in incorrectly or you havent filled in at all.

1. Personal and business details


You will need to fill in all your personal and business details. Do not forget to select
the address that needs to be used for correspondence.
Please make sure that your details are always up-to-date and make any necessary
amendment through My details section, so that your administrator is automatically
informed of any change.

2. Education
Under this section, you are invited to include all the relevant degrees you have
obtained and attach a copy. If you do not have the necessary equipment to attach
the documents, please send them to your administrator, who will do it for you.

3. APC Pathway and Competencies


This is an important step of the process. Please make sure that you tick the Pathway
that is most relevant to your work, as this will decide on the competencies that you
will be questioned about at the final stage.
To help you make your choice, you will find links to the APC Competencies and
Requirements guide as well as to the Pathway guides.
4. Faculties
You can chose up to 4 faculties. Your choice needs to include the faculty linked to
your Pathway. You will then receive all the RICS information relevant to those
faculties.
5. Counsellor
Your Counsellors is a chartered surveyors who signed your original application form
their information needs to be included on the passport and they will also receive an
automated email advising that you have requested them to be your counsellor.
6. Candidates declaration
Please make sure that you have read the declaration and that you have ticked the
box confirming it.

7. Payment section
This section provides you will the different methods of payment that are available.
If you pay by credit card, please make sure that you fill in the card payment
authorisation form and email it to APCME@rics.org

When you have validated your entries, an automatic message will be sent to your
administrator so that he/she can check that all the data has been entered correctly
and that the payment has been received.
Note 2: you will not be enrolled until we have received your payment and your
counsellor has approved your application.

3. Submissions
1. Record of Progress (Graduate 1 and 2) - Template 1 of APC Passport
As a second step you will start filling out the Record of Progress.
Each Record of Progress form is for one quarter (the number of records you need to
fill in will depend on your route to membership). You can enter several projects for
each quarter, but you can also enter only one if it is appropriate. Please remember to
always link your projects to your chosen competencies.
As long as you are working on the documents, you need to save them in My
Personal Space, which is an area where you can upload all the documents until they
are finalised.
Once you tick the box this confirms that the submissions have been finalised and are
ready to be sent to your counsellor for approval, the documents are uploaded to the
Submissions section and can no longer be amended. A message will then be sent
to the counsellor advising that the submissions have been finalised.
Your Counsellor will be able to view the draft documents in your personal space, so
that they can advise you on the content. They will also receive an automated
message when you have finalised the submissions.
If you are following the Graduate 1 or 2 route, please make sure that your Counsellor
signs the Track Record of the Passport
2. Record of Competence (Graduate 3 and Adaptation) Template 2 of the APC
Passport
You need to complete the template with your chosen competencies.
Please make sure that your Counsellor signs the document before submitting it to the
National Association.
3. Professional Development
You need to include the activities that you have carried out as part of your
Professional Development.
In the first box of each row, briefly describe what type of activity you have performed
(Attended a seminar on the topic of). Then indicate the number of hours you have
spent on the activity in the box corresponding to the month in which you have
performed it (1 for January, 2 for February, etc). At the end, please do not forget to
put the total number of hours, which again will depend on your route to membership.

4. Critical analysis and Case studies


You will also be able to upload your Critical analysis or case studies in My Personal
Space until they are finalised. Please click on the FAQ tab for guidance on the format
of these documents or view the RICS route guidance documents at www.rics.org

Once you tick the box confirming that the submissions have been finalised and are
ready to be sent to your counsellor, the documents are uploaded to the
Submissions section and can no longer be amended.
Note 3: the formats accepted by the system are Word, Excel and Pdf.

4. Final Assessment
Your administrator will decide on the Final Assessment dates and will invite all those
candidates who are ready for Final Assessment informing them of the deadlines to
finalise the submissions. You can chose to accept or decline the invitation if you feel
that you are not yet ready to sit for the FA.
If you accept the invitation, you will receive a further communication

5. Results
Those candidates who have passed the session will receive a congratulations
message with their election date to membership. Their records will be saved in the
Archives section and will no longer be able to be viewed by the candidate after 1
month of the Final Assessment date.
Those candidates who have been referred will receive a referral report, and will be
invited to the following available Final Assessment session.
