Learning Procedure:
Teachers Activity

Students Activity

A. Pre-laboratory Activity
Good Morning Class!

Good Morning Maam!

(Checking of Attendance)
..Say present...

(Students raise their hands and say present as

the teacher calls their name )

Everybody stand up...

Class, I want you all to take a deep breath and then
slowly exhale.

(Students will stand up)

(Students will inhale and exhale)

1. Drill

2. Review
As what we have learned yesterday, what is the
process of photosynthesis?
Very Good!
What are the raw materials needed in photosynthesis
and its by-product?
Very Good!

(Students will raise their right hand and

answer)
Photosynthesis is the process by which light
energy is transformed into the chemical energy
of organic food molecules.

The raw materials are water and carbon dioxide

and the by-products are starch, oxygen and
water.

3. Motivation
Class granting that we are in a beach or forest, what
do you feel when you breathe? How about when you
exhale?
What if we are in a city with lots of cars and

We Feel the fresh air coming from the sea or

plants.

We feel the air pollution coming from the cars

factories? How do you feel when you breath? Or

when you exhale?

and factories

Very Good!

4. Presentation
I have here a video presentation. I want
everybody to watch and listen carefully.
After this you are going to have a group
discussion.
Did you understand class?
A. Developmental Activity
1. Laboratory Activity
Today, you will group yourselves into two and each
group will assemble the picture that i am going to
give you. Each group will select one representative
to discuss and interpret the picture in front of the
class. I will only give 3 minutes for each
presentation. The first group is the oxygen cycle and
the second group is the carbon dioxide cycle.
Did you get it class?
Ok, class are you ready to present?

Yes Maam!
(Students will watch the video silently)
.

(Students will group into two)

Yes Maam!
Yes Maam!

Let us call the representative of the first group.

The Oxygen Cycle

(First group representative will present their

interpretation of the oxygen cycle for 3 minutes
in front of the class)

The picture shows a diagram illustrating the

oxygen cycle. The plant gives off oxygen as
a by-product of photosynthesis. Oxygen in
turn is inhaled by the animals during
respiration.

Is it correct class?

Class, did you understand the presentation of group

one?

Yes Maam!
Yes Maam!

Lets give a hand for group I.

Any questions?

(Applause)

Very Good!

No more Maam!

Teachers Activity
Now, lets call the representative of the second
group.
The Carbon Cycle

Students Activity
(second group representative will present their
interpretation of the oxygen cycle for 3 minutes
in front of the class)

The picture shows a diagram illustrating the

Carbon cycle. Factories releases carbon dioxide
through combustion it will go to the air or
atmosphere. The animals respire and give off
carbon dioxide, also the decomposing matter
give off carbon to the atmosphere while plants
take in the carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Class, is it correct?
Lets give a hand for group II.
Carbon is trapped in fossil fuels. The use of fossil
fuels results in the release of carbon into the
atmosphere. Carbon may chemically combine with
oxygen producing carbon dioxidea compound. It
is dissolved in bodies of water such as seas and
oceans. The carbon and oxygen cycles continue as
long as they are absorbed and released in the
environment.

Yes Maam!
(Applause)

Did you understand class?

Just raise your hands if you have more questions?
2. Analysis
What is the importance of oxygen? How about
carbon dioxide? What would happen if all these
were cut down?

Yes Maam!
Yes Maam!

Very Good!
Here is a simple illustration of oxygen and carbon
cycle.

Oxygen is important to all living things in order

for them to live. While carbon dioxide is
important to plants for the production of oxygen
through the process of photosynthesis. If all of
these were cut down there will be no life at all

Teachers Activity
As we observed, when we inhale, our body takes in
oxygen from the air. When we exhale, we release
some carbon dioxide to the air.

Students Activity

Did you understand class?

3. Abstraction
What is released during photosynthesis and is taken
in by animals?

Yes Maam!

Very Good!
What is released during respiration and
decomposition and taken in by plants for
photosynthesis?

Oxygen

Very Good!
All organisms breathe in oxygen in order to live. In
the cells, oxygen combines with the food during
respiration. As a result, energy is released. Carbondioxide is the waste product released to the air.
Together with water, it is again manufactured into
food. During the process, oxygen is given off and
the cycle goes on.
Green plants take in carbon dioxide and give
Off Oxygen while animals take in oxygen and give
off carbon dioxide. This cycle is repeated without
end.
What do we call of this cycle?

Carbon-dioxide

Very good!
Did you get it class?

It is called the oxygen-carbon dioxide cycle

4. Generalization
Based on your activity, describe how oxygen-carbon
dioxide cycle happens?

Yes Maam!

Very Good!
5. Application
Now, using the diagram that you have just
interpreted as model. I want you all to illustrate the
diagram of oxygen-carbon cycle with your own
ideas using materials from your immediate
environment.

Green plants takes in carbon dioxide and give

off Oxygen while animals take in oxygen and
give off carbon dioxide. This cycle is repeated
without end. It is called the oxygen-carbon
dioxide cycle

Teachers Activity
(Same group will do the activity)
Possible Materials: Used paper/box, sticks, plant,
used plastic cups, toy animal, soil.

Students Activity
(Possible Answer)

Question: what do you think will happen to the

amount of oxygen present in the bodies of water if
they will be polluted?
Question: What should we do in sustaining the
continuous supply of oxygen and carbon cycle to
our environment?
Very Good!
Class, did you understand?

No more oxygen will produce and animals and

plants will die
Help protect our trees by planting and proper
waste disposal of garbage.

6. Evaluation
Yes Maam!
