Behavior Plan
For Minor Offenses (and repetition)

Step One: Verbal correction


and chance to fix behavior.
Step Two: Student is moved
to safe seat, a think sheet is
filled out by student, and
student will conference with
teacher. Possible parent
contact occurs.
Step Three: Student is sent to
a buddy room and parent
contact occurs.
Step Four: An office referral
is filled out and student meets
with administration and
parent contact occurs. Major
offences will result in
immediate office referral.

Standards Based Grading


What is it? This type of grading
system measures your students
mastery of essential learning
objectives. The goal is to provide the
teacher, student, and parents with an
accurate picture of each students
individual levels of learning.
Why use it? The goal of the standards
based grading system is to report
more accurate, consistent, and
meaningful information about a
students level of learning.
What does it look like? In the
standards based grading system,
grades are reported using a 4 point
scale. The students are provided a
rubric scoring guide that shows them
what is expected at each level on the 4
point scale.

Essential Objectives

Readers and Writers


Workshop
In ELA this year, students will be
participating in reading and writing
workshops. The workshop model gives
power to the student for his or her own
growth. Each student will meet
periodically with the teacher in a
conference as well as meeting
with their reading and writing
groups for guidance.

Data Notebooks
Students will have their own
data notebook, which will be
a place to monitor their
learning growth. In ELA,
students will track their STAR &
AR results, essential objectives
both formal and self-assessed,
vocabulary gained, Acuity
scores, and other data.

Z.A.P. Policy

A ZAP is assigned when a student does not


have a required homework assignment
completed when due. ZAPs are on an
individual class and per quarter basis.
