General Information:

When upgrading or downgrading the ELI 150c/250c software you will need the following:
o USB memory stick with the following files located on the root directory of the
memory stick (ELIx50c_Vx_x_x.run)(x_x_x is the version of software you want to
install/upgrade)
o If needed, Language and Bin folders
When using a USB memory stick, be sure to use a stick which has been
formatted in FAT32. It is preferable to use a name brand, high quality
thumb drive.

Warning: Version 2.xx software can only run on Eli Link 4.x and above.
Warning: All records must be printed or transmitted before upgrading to version 2.xx
or downgrading to version 1.xx. The old records will not be accessible after the
upgrade/downgrade.

The ELI 150c/250c software or SNO file must be placed on the root of a USB memory stick.
If needed, Language and Bin folders must be placed on the root of the USB memory stick.

(.SNO file may be required to maintain ELI150c/250c options)
*Only the .sno file for the unit you are upgrading can be on the memory
stick. If you have more than one .sno file, the Device you are upgrading
may not receive the required options*

If you are adding additional options (see list below) a .SNO file will be required to
enable these options (contact Mortara Technical Support for assistance and
software). The SNO file and ELI 150c/250c software must be placed on the root of the
thumb drive.

DURING THIS PROCESS WHEN UPGRADING TO ANY VERSION 1 SOFTWARE.
HOWEVER, IT IS A GOOD PRACTICE TO TRANSMIT ALL RECORDS PRIOR TO
PERFORMING ANY UPDATES.
NOTE: SNO file MUST have the MAC address for the LAN card even if LAN is not being
used.

Upgrades from version 1.xx to version 1.xx

Downgrade from version 2.xx to version 1.xx
1.

Software Upgrade Process: Press the On/Off(

) button to turn the unit off.

2.

Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port of the unit.

3.

Press the On/Off button to turn the unit on.

4.

Print a Configuration page. Press F6(More), then press F6(More) again, then press
F1(Print Configuration), then press F6(Exit).

5.

With the ELI 150c/250c on and at the Main Acquisition Screen, press F6(More).

6.

Press simultaneously, Shift/Alt/D.

7.

Press F4(USB).

8.

Press F1(Start).

9.

Press the #1 key.

10. You should see:

On the display:
Reading File
ELIx50c_Vx_xx_xx.run
xxxxxxxx(these numbers will be changing)

*Note: If the upgrade fails, try a second time. It is known that some brands of memory sticks may
have a problem initializing the first time.
The Device upgrade may take approximately 5 minutes.
11. You will then be asked to Program the flash. Press the #1 key for yes.
You will then see:
On the display:
Erasing the flash then Writing the flash

12. The Device will power down. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit back on.

13. Enter First Time Boot. Press F6(More) then simultaneously, Shift/Alt/STOP. The Device
will go back to the Main Acquisition Screen. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit off,
then press the On/Off button to turn the Device back on. You will then be given prompts to
verify or adjust specific settings.

The following steps need to be performed if you are downgrading from V2.x.x to V1.xx
and have WLAN or Modem option on the device.
1. From the main screen press F6(More).
2. Press simultaneously, SHIFT/ALT/X
3. A password screen will show up, enter admin
4. Press F2(Media)
5. Press F5 until WLAN-G2 or Modem appears on the screen.
6. Press F6(Exit)
7. Press F6(Exit)
8. Press F6(More)
9. Press F6(Exit) This should bring you back to the main screen.
10. Print a configuration page and review it for your settings. If you are using LAN, WLAN or
Modem, make sure the Sync Media field is set appropriately in System Settings.

Upgrades from version 2.x.x to version 2.x.x
WARNING: All records will be unavailable after an upgrade from Version 1.xx to Version
2.xx.
CAUTION: Version 2.xx will only work with Eli Link 4.xx and above.
1. Place the ELIx50c_V2_x_x.run file and the BIN and Language folders in the root of the
USB flash drive.
2. Software Upgrade Process: Press the On/Off(

) button to turn the unit off.

3. Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port of the unit.
4. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit on.
5. Print a Configuration page. Press F6(More), then press F6(More) again, then press
F1(Print Configuration), then press F6(Exit).
6. With the ELI 150c/250c on and at the Main Acquisition Screen, press F6(More).
7. Press simultaneously, Shift/Alt/D.
8. Press F4(USB).
9. Press F1(Start).
10. Press the #1 key.
11. You should see:

19. After the files have been loaded, press F6(Exit)
20. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit off.
21. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit on.
22. Enter First Time Boot. Press F6(More) then press simultaneously, Shift/Alt/STOP. The
Device will go back to the Main Acquisition Screen. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit
off, then press the On/Off button to turn the Device back on. You will then be given
prompts to verify or adjust specific settings.

Option Upgrade Process:

1. Press the On/Off button to turn the unit off.
2. Insert the USB memory stick into the USB port of the ELI 150c/250c.
3. Turn the unit on.
4. With the ELI 150c/250c on and at the Main Acquisition Screen, press F6(More).
5. Press simultaneously, Shift/Alt/D.
6. Press F4(USB).
7. Press F1(Start).
8. Press the #1 key.
9. You should see:
On the display:
Copy SNO file
Checking for cfg file
Update file NOT FOUND

*Note: If the upgrade fails, try a second time. It is known that some brands of memory
sticks may have a problem initializing the first time.
*Note: The Update file NOT FOUND message is normal and not an indication of an error.
10. Once the upgrade has been completed remove the USB memory stick from the unit
11. Press and hold the On/Off button for 10 seconds or until the LCD changes to a dark blue
screen then release the On/Off button
12. The unit should turn itself on.
13. Reset the time and date by pressing F6(More), then F5(Set Time/Date); after setting the
date/time press F5(Save) to save the changes.
14. Verify that the configuration settings are the same by printing out a new configuration page,
or by accessing the configuration menu.
15. Verify that the newly installed options are now enabled.
