QUIZ MAP AND FINAL EXAM- INSTRUCTION

A. QUIZ MAP
The Old Testament Quiz Map is known to be as Students Bible-journey
Manual. This is an attempt to apply LECTIO DIVINA in the level of the
students. This is considered part of the overall class standing performance
under the category of quiz for students enrolled in the New Testament
Studies.
The quiz map records the five (5) important remaining learning outcomes for
students. It inter-relates the topics learned inside the classroom
discussion/presentation. Hence, the quiz map is constructive- it integrates the
evaluative and critical analysis of students from the previous lessons with the
on-going-discussion of the New Testament Topics. Moreover, quiz map is also
considered to be transformative - for it deals with the daily life
concerns/issues/struggles of every learner; providing opportunities for
reflection, and time to ascent every experience into the level of faith-purified
basing from the models of our faith e.g., Gospel writers, Apostles, and the
disciples of Jesus.
There are three (3) sections of the quiz map that students must address
weekly: Bible Reading, Personal Prayer, and Reflection.
a) Bible Reading Anyone can select his/her reading but basing also
from the suggested Gospels/book or letter.
b) Prayer after spending some moments of silent reflection, the
student is asked to respond from what s/he reads by way of writing
his/her personal prayer.
c) Reflection the section for reflection is to record the actual and
significant realization of the students. S/he may compare and
contrast the biblical events with the events of the present time,
see- how the Divine Being move and govern the current generation,
listen- to the message of the Divine Spirit , act- record ones
thoughts and ideas on how s/he may contribute to:
Alleviate poverty
Lessen the gap between the rich and the
poor
Present concrete solution to environmental
problems

Reflection:

John 4:1-26

I had a friend way back childhood. His name is

Pete, 50+ of age, and a stroke survivor. He
started living by himself after surviving the
stroke. Because of his disability, his family
resorted in leaving him. His sister was the only
one who is visiting him. Pete felt left behind
and useless. Due to the helpless situation, his
savings ran-out. Hence, he misses his
medication oftentimes due to lack in financial
resources. Unfortunately, his neighbors didnt
seem to notice his dilemma. Pete often shouts
and yells the people outside of the house
because he doesnt want to see/hear people
happy. Then, thereafter, his neighbors dont
want to talk to him anymore. In an accident
situation, there we were with a friend staring
at his pet turtle. Then, we were caught and he
started yelling at us. From that instance, we
took the opportunity to talk with him; initially,
he was resistant but after a few minutes he
started crying and telling his story. In knowing
his story, our legs frost and our heart started
to torn-apart. We know we cant do anything
but to send a letter to Wish Ko Lang for his
medication and share the faith and salvation
through Jesus Christ. And from that particular
day he received Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior. After a week he died peacefully with
the hope of heaven, where there is no more
pain.

Prayer:
Before Reading:
Father, our God,
forgive my
transgressions and
cleanse me and
make me pure before
you so that I may
become worthy in
your presence. For I
know through your
Son, our Lord and
Savior, you cleansed
me and made me
pure. Lord, send me
Your Holy Spirit to
guide me as I read
Your word. In Jesus
Name. Amen.

When Jesus encountered the Samaritan

woman at the well He has not been hesitant
to talk with her. But yet, He got involved in her
life and talk about her need for spiritual
power. First, Jesus established a common

ground which is water and ridicules her

spiritual belief. Second, Jesus confronted her
sin without mocking but full of grace. Third,
Jesus kept the conversation in its main issue
which is about salvation and worship. Lastly,
Jesus admitted in (verse 26) that He was the
Messiah.
A faith worth having is a faith worth sharing.
Also, a faith without (good)works is nothing. I
need to be involved in the community and in
the lives of others and tell them the good
news about Jesus; for we are saved through
Him and by Him only.

B. FINAL EXAMINATION Instruction and

Guidelines
1. Group Field Research and Documentary Short-film Presentation
The group field research is an actual learning evaluation and integration of
what transpired in the classroom with the events outside of it. This helps the
students to see for themselves the relevant issues we are facing at the
moment, and to create provocative elucidation to the increasing problem in
the society.
The study will be done by group. Students will deal with individual or group of
persons who live in the street- or street people. The main concern is to
integrate the knowledge of Concepts of Old Testament with social issues- in
particular the issue with the urban poor. Hence, the research is thematicdepending upon the Topic presented during the report and according to its
concern/s.
It is the aim of the group research that, apart from gaining full knowledge of
the New Testament from the classroom, we may base also our learning from
the lens of faith according to the different teachings Jesus and how the first
believers in the New Testament reflected upon Jesus teaching. It is our goal
to see Jesus also and to encounter Him in our daily-busy lives as studentswho are the agents of transformation to the world- especially to the Filipino
society- to be carriers of the spark of change for social reform today and for
tomorrow.
There are different phases to carry out the final output of the group. This is
displayed by the diagram below (B.1.). The acronym SEADI reflects the ideal
way of presenting the summative-learning process of doing the field research.
See Figure below:
Figure B.1. Five Phase of Applied Learning

A D

8 | Q u i z M a p a n d Fi n a l E x a m I n s t r u c t i o n

1. Synthesize - Create a holistic view of what you have learned from the
discussions, you may make a summary or diagram your learning.
2. Evaluate - See the relevant things or ideas you have learned and take
note how it affects your perception in life.
3. Analyze - Observe what is happening around your environment and
compare relevant issues and concerns.
4. Demonstrate back up your analysis with social interview (at this point,
our concern is street people), in the end you may present some concrete
plan or plan of actions to address the perceived problems around.
5. Integrate Create personal projects on how the offered solution can be
feasible to provoke change, writing your final reflection will be relevant at
this point.
Thus, the rubric or grading system of the final output will be based also upon
the elements or criteria presented in SEADI.
The next diagram is a recommendation on how to execute your group field
research project:
Figure B.2. STEPS for Group Dynamics-Process

STEP 1: Start with the group meeting. You may select your leader so that
s/he may have the call to the rest of the members for immediate meeting or
when important concerns arise. Make an agreement of your common timewhen, where and how you will execute your project. Present your time frame
as a group.
STEP 2: Presentation of Individual summary of learning. Discuss in
your group meeting what transpired to you within the semester or what is the
most important thing/s you learned. This may not only be about your
Theological studies, it may include some areas of disciplines. You may
compare similarities of your learning and, from it, begin presenting to the
group the common area of interest (for example: I am interested to know how
God provides for the poor, How do ordinary people or street people express
their faith or what is their understanding of God)- make it as the Theme for
your field research. (see figure B.3)
STEP 3: Start doing your Field research. Every day you do encounter
street people. Be curious again with their situation! Formulate questions that
you keep on asking about them deep inside yourself in times when you saw
them (or is your heart that senseless enough not to recognize their
9 | Q u i z M a p a n d Fi n a l E x a m I n s t r u c t i o n

presence?), and formulate another set of questions that you want to ask to
them during the interviewed. Document (video documentation) the days
activity of that person, daily routine. However, transcend your interest from
the physical activities into heart-disturbing situation- belief, dream, ambition,
aspiration of the person.
STEP 4: Go out. Start searching for people with no settlement outside the
campus. You may probably know someone whom you regular encounter when
you go to school. Begin with that person/s. But take in mind that your SAFETY
is of primary importance. See if the person is approachable enough or willing
to be interviewed, if not, look for another one without compromising the goal
of your research and the safety of every member in the group. Record your
interview. Giving money is highly discourage or inviting them to your house.
YOU MAY GIVE FOOD AND CLOTHING but do it in subtle ways so you may not
get the attention of other people.
STEP 5: Seat Down. Begin discussing with your group mates your reflective
analysis after your interview or encounter with the street person/people. You
may start by providing answers to the questions previously formulated.
Assign some members to edit your video clip which provides the substantial
content (content maybe integrated in the way you want to present your video
documentary):
Title/Theme of the Research
Group Members (Name)
Formulated questions
Person/s interviewed (Data/details)
Group concluding analysis
o What happened before, during and after the research
o What is the important/significant event/thing- encounter
with the street person
o How to feel after the encounter
o Any personal but significant insight
o How was the experience change/transform your life
Credits or other important documentation.
