One reason the devil has way in to peoples emotions is to

keep you flying through life without taking time to get
renewed in the Presence of the Lord.
Psalm 16:11New King James Version (NKJV)
11
You will show me the path of life; In Your
presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures
forevermore.

2 Corinthians 3:17New King James Version (NKJV)

17
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the
Lord is, there is liberty.
Nehemiah 8:10New King James Version (NKJV)
10
Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the
sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is
prepared; for this dayis holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for
the joy of the L ORD is your strength.

John 15:11, 12 is a foundational scripture that will help you

maintain joy no matter what you are waiting for, These
things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in
you, and that your joy might be full. This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved
you. Loving others is a key to keeping your joy-tank full at
all times. When you bring joy to another persons life, your
joy escalates to higher levels.
Joy also comes from what you know from Gods Word. The

words of Jesus reinforce the fruit of joy that is already

within your spirit. When you meditating on the Word of God,
you will maintain the joy necessary to be content in any and
all situations. Joy provokes praise and keeps you in a mode
of expectancy.
You will not pay attention that you need to sit, to rest, and to
wait upon the Lord. As the outcome, your perception of
things around you gets blurred. Doing too much at too fast of
a pace has worn yourself down, causing you to lose your
focus and affecting your ability to see things the way they
really are.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in
heavenly places in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3
This says He hath blessed us with all spiritual

blessings, meaning its already done. You already

have all spiritual blessings. ( But cant see it because you
are so busy)
You might say, God could stop Satan if He wanted
to. Therefore, the devil only does what God allows Him to
do. Thats not true. Thats a religious tradition that will
render you passive and prey to the devil.
When God gave Adam unconditional authority over the earth,
He gave him His word

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is

gone out of my lips.

There were no strings attached. He didnt say, If you blow

it, Ill take back My power and authority. No! God had to
allow what man allowed.
Matthew 16:19Amplified Bible (AMP)
19
I will give you the keys (authority) of the kingdom of
heaven; and whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be
improper and unlawful] on earth [a]will have [already] been
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare
lawful] on earth [b]will have [already] been loosed in heaven.

The Lord had given man total control over the earth. It was
his to govern as he saw fit. Adam then yielded to Satan the
power and authority God intended for man.
God is a good God. If it was only up to Him, we would all be
blessed (James 1:17). In the life of Job. God blessed Job
abundantly. He was the greatest man in wealth and
uprightness of all the people of his day. But Job didnt have a
covenant with God. The Lord didnt really have the legal
right to be so good to Job. Job was a sinner and therefore
under Satans control. So Satan pressed his case, and the
Lord had to turn Job over to Satan because he legally came
under Satans area of control.
This is why the Lord started making covenants with people
like Abraham and, eventually, the whole nation of Israel.

Sometime you may be sitting down physically, but youre still

running emotionally!
Theres a big problem with moving so fast. The demands of
our schedule job, family, church, friendships, and so forth
start piling up, each overlaying the other as we race from
place to place.
When this happens, we start becoming ineffective in every
area of life. Were just trying to do too much, too fast.
Our busyness leads to a breakdown of everything. The body
suffers. The mind suffers. The work suffers because were
too tired to perform at 100 percent and therefore cant do
our job to our full potential.
This then results are you having to battle feelings of
condemnation for not doing a better job!

Lets face it its extremely difficult to do everything at the

same time.
You may be able to swing it for a while, but in time, youll
start missing important details, forgetting what you said,
missing appointments, messing up in your finances, and
even getting emotional over unemotional issues because
youve pushed yourself beyond your limit.
Tell somebody: if this is you, slow down and set aside some
time to spend with the Lord.
I have to admit that sometimes I also fall into the trap of
doing too many things too fast. I know you have to keep

moving and stay on schedule. If you delay in one area, it

throws everything else off schedule and creates a schedule
crisis for many others. For everyone else to do their jobs
well, it means you must stay on schedule and keep on track
every day of my life.
When I feel overwhelmed moments coming on me, I hear
Jesus speak to my spirit and say,
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
Notice that Jesus begins this verse, Come unto me.
This is from the Greek word is which is a greeting that
means, Come come now! I am inviting you to
come! In Greek, it has the feeling of a yell, which lets us
know that Jesus joyfully welcomes us to come to Him.
Jesus then says, Come unto me, all ye that labour.
This implies that Jesus invitation to come to Him is a
special invitation directed to those who labour. The word
labour in Greek word describes a person who has
become completely exhausted due to nonstop,
continuous work . This is clearly a person who has a lot of
responsibility and is doing his best to do it all in a
professional and excellent fashion. In order to do everything
that is on his plate, this person is required to work hard all
the time. Thats why Jesus motion this person to come to
Him!
And Jesus doesnt beckon only the hard worker; He also
calls out to those who are heavy laden. These words are

from the word depicting a person who is carrying a very

heavy load on his back .
Perhaps this load is his job, his family, his financial situation,
or some personal burden. Regardless of what it is, Jesus
pleads for the heavy laden person to come to Him!
To anyone who responds to this invitation and comes to
Jesus, He promises that He will give them rest. The word
rest is the Greek means to refresh, to make younger, to
give a boost to, or to restart . You see, the Lord wants to
refresh us so we can keep doing what He has called us to
do. He wants us to be refilled so we can remain valuable.
The only way we can remain constantly valuable is by
making sure we spend time with the Lord. But in order to
truly enter His Presence so we can hear the voice of the
Holy Spirit, we must first quiet ourselves by getting away
from the commotion of life and finding a quiet place to
worship, pray, and read the Word. Thats the only way we
can quiet our soul enough to be able to hear Gods voice
speaking to our inner man.
Please do not think that we are going to run into the Lords
Presence and get everything we need in the space of five
minutes just isnt realistic. We must schedule time to be
alone with God.
Dont just run in and run out of the Lords Presence. Plan to
settle down and stay there long enough to get everything
you need to carry on! Once youve stopped long enough to
7 | Page

really rest in His Presence, youre finally in a position where

you can start receiving from Him. Dont move too fast. Dont
leave until you receive the refreshing you need. Just hang
around in Gods Presence as long as you possibly can! Tarry
there awhile, and let the Holy Spirit give you peace, joy,
strength, and direction.
Learn to rest in Gods Presence. You see, there is a quiet
place in Him, a place of refreshing, where you will find
comfort, peace, and protection every time. This is why
Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest.
Notice that Jesus doesnt say He will come to you. He says
that you must choose to go to Him! But if you will make the
deliberate choice to wait upon the Lord, Jesus promises that
you will find this promised rest!
This is your key to remaining steadfast and strong enough to
keep on schedule and to stay on track with everything you
need to do. And I promise you if you will wait long enough
in His Presence, He will speak to your heart to let you know
if all your activities are ordained of Him or if there are some
obligations or activities you need to eliminate.
Spending time with the Lord is not an option it is the
answer! So come into the Presence of God and allow Him to
refresh you. As you do, the Holy Spirit will release His
resurrection power and you will be quickened in your
physical body. You will be strengthened, refreshed,
recharged, and supernaturally empowered by God so you
can get back out there with a fresh perspective and new
energy to finish what you have started!

The Believers Rest

4 Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still
remains and is freely offered today, let us fear, in case any
one of you may seem to come short of reaching it or think
he has come too late.
