SPECIFICATION
GENERAL
RAJAT DC Motors are drip proof, horizontal foot mounted, having two end shield fitted with ball
bearings, key wayed shaft extension on one side suitable for normal raise of temp. and are
manufactured accordingly to the type of winding as given below as per IS : 4722(92).

CONSTRUCTION
YOKE: The frame or Yoke is made of mild steel, which serves as a means of support for the
Motor and forms a part of the magnetic circuit connecting the field poles and commutating
poles.
POLES : The field poles are made of steel laminations on which field coils are wound. The
laminated poles have a rectangular cross section and are fastened to the frame by bolts.
ARMATURE : The armature is made of machine/former wound coils embedded in skewed
parallel slots on the surface of the armature core. The core is made of high grade silicon
content CRGO stampings. The stampings are machine pressed.
BRUSHES : The carbon brushes, which are mounted on brush-hold stands or brackets, are
used to carry the current from the external to the internal circuit.
COMMUTATOR :It worksas amechanical rectifier mean it converts alternating current of
armature into direct current in case of generator action.It is made of individual copper segments
separated from each other by mica insulation. The copper bars with mica separators in between
are dovetailed in the lower part and are built up in a structure and are held together by Retainer
Rings to prevent slipping.
INTER POLES : To improve commutation small auxiliary poles, i.e. Inter Poles are placed
between the regular fields poles. Thus prevent sparking at the brushes for different loads. Thus
minimising the wear/tear of the Commutator.
PANEL (OPTIONAL) :Control Panel consisting of Measuring Instruments such as Ammeters,
Voltmeters, Indicating Light, DC Starter, MCBs, Insulating Terminals, Field Rheostat fitted on
bakelite sheet with ENGRAVED diagram/symbols and accessories fitted on MS Angle Iron
Frame suitable for floor fixing or in almirahtypem.s. box suitable for table mounting.
TESTS :Every Motor is type tested for insulation Resistance and given voltage tests in
accordance with IS specification. All motors are checked and tested on dynamometer type,
Pronney Brake loading arrangement for no-load and full-load conditions.
WARRANTY : RAJAT product carries warranty against any manufacturing defect for a period
of one year provided the motor is not tampered with at users end and in that case no claim is
likely to be entertained.
