I've got a client who have suered one problem after another with a Canon printer/copier

778 members asked

questions and received

since purchasing it 3 months ago.

It's only shared between two PCs running Vista Business and the latest glich is they can
print A3/A4 from one PC, but only in A4 from the other.

How is the coonection made to the printer? via your network switch
or connect it directly to another vista pc?

To a network switch. Network consists of 2 Vista pcs, HP printer, the
canon and a rewall/router.

The printer is oine can mean two things.

1. the printer is power o
or
2. the ip address of the printer is blocked
Check in windows rewall or other third party's rewall is blocking
the internal ip address of the canon printer

If I connect remotely to the other PC the Canon is showing as Ready
so let me see if I can ping the printer from the problem and Norton
Internet Security 2010 isn't blocking it.

The Canon is showing being on a WSD port, so I'll need to set this
up properly,

I'm trying to change to Canon from a WSD port to 192,168.0.200,
but Add a Port is greyed out although I am logged on using an
account with admin rights.

Then, nd the ip address of the canon pirnter from the working pc.
Then, in the problem pc -> Create a New Port for the printer >Standard IP Port and check whether you should be able to print.

Do you have the printer driver?

If yes, delete the printer and add a new pinter using local
connection -> Create a New Port for the printer ->Standard IP Port
and check whether you should be able to print.

the printer ->Standard IP Port of v and check whether you should
be able to print.
