He majored in Business and is transferring to UW to complete his degree. He started out as the Treasurer of Phi Theta Kapa (PTK) Honor Society before stepping up to be President of the United Student Association (USA). What he found most rewarding about taking on leadership roles was being an advocate and resource for others. What he gained from his experiences as a student leader gave him a better understanding of how South is organized and its political landscape. Ryan’s proudest achievement was his campaign ‘on textbook awareness, advocating for open educational resources to increase affordability and access for students. Other important takeaways included learning how to manage people and be adaptable. Even through these challenges, Ryan felt supported by Monica Lundberg and the rest of the staff in Student Life. Ryan enjoyed his experiences as a student leader here at South, and is considering taking on leadership roles at UW. Se ee COR UC SUC OMe TCM atch Chee CU ei ince TiC TiAl) access for students. One of the most valuable things for her was learning from different cultures. She found that critical listening and collaboration were key to finding success in her leadership roles. Chhavi describes a strong sense of community within Student Life, describing it as being part of a “family”. Chhavi found that contributing to the success of others, while learning how to navigate across cultural differences is very rewarding.. Her involvement with PTK and the S&A Fee Board has also helped motivate her to excel in her academics, in particular presentation skills. It was no surprise that one of the challenges Thao faced with being so active on campus was balancing school, work, cand family. She learned how fo manage her fime, be flexible, relax, and try her best. Thao also believed that her involvement on and off campus helped bolster her college application.
