Hammerhead Mercenary Cruiser

Crew of the 'Unseen':

The Hammerhead is an expensive tool, by pretty much any

definition, for missions that are to be completed preferable
without the operatives ever being noticed. Its sole purpose
is to deliver and extract covert operation teams.

Chief Granason doesn't actually own the 'Unseen'. It is

much too expensive for a small mercenary outfit like his,
even considering the fact, that they are quite successful.
The actual owners of the ship are the banks. Still, Rolf has
learned to make good use of this asset and is currently
considering a merger with other mercenary companies, to
get a better grip on the ship.

Another important piece of technology engineered into this

starship is the stealth jump drive. While not able to gap
particularly large interstellar distances it is capable of doing
so without alerting the target systems space born
defences. It is this piece of equipment, which is responsible
for most of the astronomical price tag of the ship.
The ship is small enough to deliver its cargo directly to the
planetary surface without the need of small craft or other
landing devices. That the Hammerhead is streamlined
helps as well.

Sa

Most importantly though, the ship is equipped with cargo

holds for vehicles not exceeding 40 dT in total, to support
the team it delivered to the surface. Of course these cargo
bays could be used for other purposes as well.
If the ship should ever run into trouble itself, it can defend
itself with two torpedo launchers. While the ammunition
supply is rather limited, each torpedo can carry enough of
a punch to utterly someones day.
Curiously enough this quality combined with the stealth
properties of the ship has had the admiralty consider the
Hammerhead for surprise assault runs on defence
installations to soften them up before the actual invasion
force arrives.

Operating the ship with only two additional crewmen is a bit
of a challenge at times, especially if things go south, but so
far the Chief has not hired another crewman. Supposedly it
is first and foremost a matter of trust.

Its crew quarters could in theory house a crew of six. Most

often the ship is operated with a crew of three though. In
addition the ship has barracks for five marines or
mercenaries. Sometimes the additional cabin space is
used to carry another combatant or two if the mission
dictates it.

For this purpose the ship is equipped with a stealth coated,

self sealing layer of crystaliron armour. While that armour
belt is not thick enough to shrug off all starship grade
weapons it is first and foremost not supposed to get hit at
all.

The handful of mercenaries operating from this ship are a
hand picked lot, who enjoy the full trust of the captain and
utterly return the sentiment. In any other regard they do not
have particularly high morale standards.
