DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE ASSESSMENT

METHOD WAS USED
(Please include your personal observations
and comments below the description)
I think it is good that there is an interaction
among the
Learners and facilitator along the
discussion. Although
there are students who is lack of
confidence to
answer, it still sets the mood of the
classroom and
somehow helps to boost the confidence of
every
learners because of the reinforcement gave
by the
teacher.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE ASSESSMENT

METHOD WAS USED
(Please include your personal observations
and comments below the description)

I think, the teacher should not allow the

students to
use their cell phones in computing for the
mean. I
think, the teacher should required the
students to
bring their own calculator because there is
a possibility
that they will cheat to their seatmates.

Your Analysis
1. Was there a variety of assessment methods used by the
teacher? How relevant was/were the assessment methods
used?
Yes, the teacher I am observing uses variety of assessment methods. It is
relevant because every student has their own ability. Some of them are
good in Oral Recitation while others are good in written exam or written
reports. It is important for the teachers to know the student's strengths
and weaknesses.

2. Do you think the expected students learning behaviours

indicated in the objectives were properly and appropriately
assessed through those assessment methods?
Yes, because as I am observing the class, the teacher has her goal that
she wants to achieve at the end of the learning period. For example, in
the topic "Measures of Central Tendency", one of the teacher's goal is to
test the student's accuracy in solving the mean, median and the mode.
She made a 10-15 mins. Quiz, and as I saw it, she achieved it before the
learning period ends.

Your Reflections
1. Write your personal reflection of thoughts and feelings about
the importance in the use of appropriate assessment methods
in the classroom, including what students and teachers can
gain from appropriate assessment tools. Share your reflection
with your FS teacher and classmates.
Assessment Tools and its appropriateness is very important. Using this,
the teachers as well as the students may know his/her own strengths and
weaknesses. Whether he/she will improve his strengths or worsen it. Or
he will make a way to be better on his/her weaknesses. Actually, the
assessment method is one of the ways to test if the student really
understands the lesson or not. It also measures his/her knowledge, but
not all the time. To teachers, before making an assessment method, they
must consider their student's learning styles and ability. Their
assessment methods must be appropriate with their topics and to their

students also. Assessment Methods actually turns with the learners and
facilitators per se.

Measures)
Name of FS Student: Ronron A. Mentigar
Course: Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics
Year & Section: 3-1
Resource Teacher: Mrs.Edelina F. Perez
Cooperating School: Canumay East National High School

Your Target
At the end of this activity, you will be adept in designing, using, and interpreting results of
objective tests.

Your Way
Designing and using assessment tools sounds interesting, especially if you know their
curricular intentions. Take calculated strides in pursuing this interesting task through these
stages:

Step 1: Visit a class on a subject area of your choice.

Step 2: Study the teacher's objectives of the
lesson: Observe his/her class, focusing on the
evaluation part of the lesson.
Step 3: Make a Table of Specification and
construct pen-and-paper test items on the
subject observed.
Step 4: Conduct the pen and paper test
in a class.
Step 5: Analyze and interpret the
data obtained from it focusing on
target competency.
Step 6: Reflect on your own
experience.

Your Tools
As you visit schools, study the teachers'objectives, formulate test
items, and interpret results, make a clear documentation of your
tasks using the activity forms provided for you in the book. For
your pen-and-paper test items, customize a table of
specifications, and prepare the test material based on the
prescriptions of the school where you do class observation.

INITIAL NOTES
Teacher's Learning Objectives
1. To differentiate the Mean, Median and Mode,
2. Compute for the Mean and Median and find the Mode;
3. Learners should participate actively in the class discussion
and relate the topic in the real world application.
Desired Condition and criterion levels of the learning
objectives
Teacher's learning objectives measures the cognitive,
psychomotor and affective domain of the students. It focuses
with the topic Measures of Central Tendency andit will test the
Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of every learner.

Other notes:
Teacher must give real-world examples where the students can
relate. The class must be interactive and produces a good
ambiance inside the class to have a good relationship with
them.

DESIGNING PEN-AND-PAPER TEST

To help you prepare your pen-and-paper test which you will soon
administer in the class you have observed, please remember to:
1. Make a two-way table of Specification. Make sure that you
focus on the current subject matter of the class you observed,
and that you target the higher levels of learning behaviors. Please
adopt the TOS format prescribed by the school where you do your
class observation. If the school has TOS templates, ask permission
to use it.
2. Show your TOS to your FS teacher, then to the classroom
teacher. Get their comments and suggestions and improve your
TOS.

3. With approved TOS, formulate your test items. Write each test
item in an index card, indicating the subject matter and the
Subject Matter: Measures of Central Tendency
Level of
desired level of learning behavior to be assessed, among others.
Behaviour:

Test Type: Identification and Solving
Test Items:
Write your answers on a crosswise. (1pt each)
1. It is the middle score for a set of data that has been arranged
in order of magnitude.
2. In laymans term, it is called as the average.
3. It refers to the most frequent in the data set.

Sample Format

4. The proponent of Likert type question.

5. It attempts to describe a set of data by identifying the
central position within that set of data.

Given the raw data, find the Mean, Median and Mode. (2pts
each)

The marks scored obtained by 20 students in an

examination are as follows:
25, 37, 8, 40, 45, 29, 42, 12, 25, 16, 20, 36, 30,
33, 24, 24, 11, 35, 30, 45.

Key:
1. Median
2. Mean
3. Mode
4. Renesis Likert
5. Central Tendency or Measures of Central Tendency
Answers
1. Mean = 28.35
2. Median = 29.5
3. Mode = 24, 25,30 and 45

4. Make an Item Bank by organizing the index cards containing

your test items. Show it to your classmates for their comments
and suggestions, show to your FS teacher for checking, and
finally, to the classroom teacher.
5. Prepare a test paper of the finalized items.
6. Get the classroom teacher's permission to administer the test.
7. Administer the test to the class for which the test is designed.
Then, check the papers and record students' scores.
8. Do an item analysis and make inferences out of the result.
9. Indicate the item analysis results of each item on the index
card where you wrote the item.

Your Analysis
Do you think the teacher's learning objectives was
appropriately assessed by your test items? Why?/Why
not?
Yes, because I just get an idea with the examples that my
cooperating teacher gave during her discussion. I think it's
appropriate because the exam or test items were aligned
with the objectives.
Why did you have to study the teacher's learning
objectives prior to developing an assessment tool?
I've studied the teacher's learning objectives becausethe
test that I will make should be fit with the three objectives.
The test only turns with the three in order to measure what
is intended to measure.

Your Reflection

Write your personal reflection of thoughts and

feelings regarding the Peace Concept on Focus. Share
your reflection with your FS teacher and classmates.
Over-all, the teacher and learner is the one who is
responsible for the achievement of a positive goal. It's
between the shoulder to shoulder and supporting of each
other. Teacher must know first his/her students before
making an objective. He/she must know the ability and
capacity of students for the better process of teaching and
learning procedures. They should give an assessment which
will fit the learning ability of students. Teachers also must
know how to adjust for his/her student and he/she must
always think first what's best for them.
