AVEVA Safe Job Analysis

Effective risk assessment for safe, compliant and

more efficient working
Whether it is referred to as Job Safety Analysis, Activity Hazard Analysis,
Task Risk Assessment or Safe Job Analysis (SJA), performing a systematic
and stepwise review to identify and then eliminate or control risk during the
preparation and execution of work is vital for safe plant operation.
Such detailed analysis involves many people from different departments in what
has historically been a highly labour-intensive process. Increasingly complex
plants and more stringent regulatory requirements have increased not only the
work involved, but also the potential severity of the consequences of inadequate
planning and risk assessment. AVEVA Safe Job Analysis streamlines this process
to increase operational efficiency and significantly enhance site safety.
Designed by industry experts for the specific needs of plant operations, AVEVA
Safe Job Analysis is a web-based application that enables detailed task-level risk
assessments to be performed efficiently. It is part of AVEVA WorkMate, a fully
integrated Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution that enables operators of
all types of plant to maintain and operate their assets safely, reliably and costeffectively throughout their entire lifecycle.

demonstrates that risk levels
have been reduced as low as
reasonably practicable (ALARP)
z An electronic authorisation
process ensures that SJAs are
correctly approved before work
commencement, removing the risk
of human error
Increased efficiency
z Rapid duplication of task lists
across multiple SJAs saves time
and effort in the risk assessment
of repeated jobs

Overview

Key Features

A fully integrated part of AVEVA WorkMate, AVEVA Safe Job Analysis

is a unique and powerful application that can be used across
multiple projects and assets. It can be readily configured to comply
with applicable regulatory standards and is suitable for all sizes of
organisation. AVEVA Safe Job Analysis helps users to identify work
hazards and to plan, approve and implement appropriate risk reduction
measures. It creates documents which clearly describe the specific
measures to be taken when carrying out any risk-associated work.

z Built-in, customisable safety checklist

This is based on recognised industry standards. Multiple templates
enable the list to be extensively customised to suit different
industry or operational requirements. Use of this checklist ensures
that no aspect has been ignored; the SJA cannot be approved until
every checklist item has been considered and verified.

Formal risk analyses can be performed efficiently and individual tasks

created and assigned to the relevant departments or team members.
The application can be directly linked to Work Permits, simplifying the
cross-referencing of key documentation and adding an extra layer of
security, ensuring that a Work Permit cannot be activated unless the
associated Safe Job Analysis has been approved. Once created, SJAs can
also be applied to future relevant Work Permits, saving time and effort.

z Visibility of related Work Permits

As an integrated part of AVEVA WorkMate, AVEVA Safe Job Analysis
enables a single SJA to create or refer to any number of Work
Permits, providing immediate visibility of all associated permits and
their current status.
z Electronic approval
A fully electronic approval process eliminates the costs and delays
of circulating, approving and collating multiple paper documents.

The configuration of a completed Safe Job Analysis document conforms

to a widely accepted model, recognised by industry safety bodies. While
this document format will fulfil the needs of most organisations, the
template capability of AVEVA Safe Job Analysis enables any format to be
readily configured.

z Integrated meeting manager

This feature enables full documentation of risk assessment
meetings, including where and when the meeting was held and who
was in attendance. As with the checklist, an SJA cannot be approved
until at least one meeting has been recorded.

AVEVA Safe Job Analysis is a powerful tool for creating and maintaining
a safe working environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing
risk, and saving time and money.

z Full printed documentation

The completed SJA report is saved as a standard PDF document,
enabling it to be printed for use by on-site engineers at their
pre-job briefing. Relevant procedures, web links, forms or other
documents may also be easily attached to the completed report and
printed as required.
z

A customisable checklist ensures no risk aspect has been ignored

Full documentation of risk assessment meetings is included

An historical log of all changes to the analysis is included

Standardised methodology and format for Safe Job Analysis

This details:
- work description
- requirements and preconditions
- conclusions and comments
- summary of experience.

z Full historical log

A full record is maintained of all changes to the analysis, providing
valuable information when assessing progress and validity.
Historical SJA information can be used when creating new Work
Permits.
z Easy reuse of data
The ability to quickly duplicate task lists from previous analyses,
which can often contain a great many individual tasks for a single
job, can save considerable time and effort. It also facilitates
deployment of best-practice procedures across multiple assets or
fleets of similar plants.

AVEVA Safe Job Analysis provides a fully electronic approval process
