The Phantom Mouse was

designed to build stands
simultaneously while drilling
ahead with a top drive unit.

During the initial phase of conventional drilling operations, it is customary

to either build stands prior to drilling and to rack in the derrick, or to drill
in a single joint at a time. While both of these practices have become
acceptable in the industry, it does not allow the operator to take full
advantage of the top drive.

Facilitating the operation to drill using pre-assembled stands drastically improves

efficiency by reducing the amount of connection time by as much as 2/3.

The unit rotates the tubulars below the rig floor and therefore creates a safer
environment by eliminating the need to rotate the stand inside the derrick concurrent
with drilling operations. It also greatly enhances safety by reducing the amount of
human exposure required during connection operations.
