Recruitment Exam Question Sample (Telecom Sector)

Telecom Syllabus for Job seekers (prepared by Junayed Mazumder, Lecturer, Ahsanullah
University of Science & Technology) First of all, prepare yourself for IBA type of exams which
include verbal, analytical and mathematical problems. And the technical topics for Telecom jobs
are given below. But, dont get lost in exploring the topics in depth. Just basics and initial
understanding will do your purpose. !!!!!!!!!!!!First suggestion is to look confident and bring a
humble kind of attitude in appearance!!!!!! Prepare a good summary of your final year thesis,
you can exaggerate your work with cleverly approach as most of them is not gonna understand
you. Topics:

1. GSM/CDMA infrastructure very good knowledge about different part of GSM system
2. Evolution of GSM/CDMA- 1G, 2G, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, WIMAX, CDMA2000-1x,
CDMA2000-EVDO (their data rates, services )
3. Call set up procedure
4. Specifications like freq range, BW, data rate etc of GSM 900,1800, 800,1900 and CDMA
5. Basic Idea of GSM and CDMA
6. Difference between GSM and CDMA
7. Difference between circuit switching and packet switching
8. Hand off techniques- GSM/CDMA both
9. Know these terms (just what are they?)

PN code
Walsh code
Q-factor
BER
Interference

1. Cellular concept fading, channel re-use, sectoringsort of basic ideas

2. Transmission media ( Microwave and fibre optics basic idea)
3. The names of various modulation methods like PCM, PSK, GPSK, QPSK,WDM etc (
just basic idea and what modulation technique is used in which technology)
4. inband signaling, outband signaling,
5. SS7 basics (SsP, SCP, STP) & the layer structure of SS7( MTP, SCP, OMAP.....etc)
6. OSI layers
7. IPV4 (musking, subnetting)
8. Get some basic ideas about
E1/T1
VSWR
PDH, SDH links
IPV6
Earlang

IN
Your 4th year thesis
DSL/ADSL/SDSL
ATM
Multiplexing
MSI

1. Antenna ( names of different antenna), Antenna gain, Beam efficiency, Directivity, Solid
angle, 3db, Eb/No
2. Answer these questions

what voltage is needed for BSS equipments? 48v/+24v (dc)

In telecom equipment, do we use DC power supply anywhere?-yes

1. Basic ckt diagrams, BJT, MOSFET, DIODE, BIASING

2. DLD GATES (and, or, nor etc)

Actually anyone going for an interview in computer/ IT based jobs (OSS, IN, VAS etc) then he
needs some more things to learn like

1. SQL commands important SQL commands from IVAN BAYROS

2. Oracle Basics
3. Sun-solaris 9.0 fundamentals and intermediates
