Standard Boot-Order settings in HP BIOS

1) Press F9 to enter into the BIOS of the server

2) After entering the BIOS select Standard boot Order (IPL) & press ENTER. See
below:

3) Go to option IPL: 4 to select the Hard Drive C: & press ENTER (Note: Hard
drive could be at any position, select accordingly). See below:

4) Set the IPL Device Boot Order to 1 (Note that C drive/OS drive should always
be set to 1). See below:
5) Then go to Boot Controller Order & Press ENTER

6) Set the preference of Controller as Fiber Port1 at first number/Fiber Port2 at


second number & IDE port at 3rd number. See below

Press ESC and save the configuration when prompted.


How to Check WWN Number & Map the Boot Controller Order

1) Press Ctrl-Q on system started when prompted at below screen:

This would take you into the Q-logic/HBA BIOS utility, select above one i.e.
QLA23xx & press ENTER
2) Go to Configuration Settings & press ENTER. See below:

3) Go to Host Adapter Settings & press ENTER & there you can check the WWN
number of Host Adapter
The Adapter Port Name shown below is referred to as the WWN of the HBA card.

( Note: Always ensure that Host Adapter BIOS and Fibre Channel Tape Support is set
to Enabled. Else, need to enable them first before proceeding for next step)

4) Press ESC to exit the screen, then go to the Selectable Boot Settings & press
ENTER
5) Select the boot port name in the order the fibre devices are present and press
ENTER. See below:

6) Then select the number from where the fibre device is present then press
ENTER & select the boot order value as 1

7) Press ESC and save changed when prompted.


8) Repeat steps 2 to 7 for the second HBA card and restart the server to let it
boot to the OS.
