#lostlivesmatter

Our great country has a serious problem. The problem goes far beyond an unplanned pregnancy;
far beyond sexual sin; far beyond race and poverty and politics and an attack on marriage. The
problem is sin, but the penalty of that sin has already been paid, by Jesus Christ.

Women and men can walk free from their sinful lifestyles. Met needs (pregnancy tests, baby
items, ultrasounds, encouragement towards chastity) can and are being handled by our wonderful
Heartbeat affiliates the unmet needs (forgiveness from sin and the guilt that follows,
hopelessness, a lack of peace and purpose) these are heart needs and only Jesus Christ Himself
can meet these needs. This message, especially, has to be communicated.

Our centers do an excellent job in being on the cutting edge in providing services to abortion
vulnerable women. Our greatest challenge is one of focus: the need for transformation over
reformation. The gospel message speaks to the heart of all human need.

Whether our ministry is a pregnancy resource center, a medical clinic, a maternity home, or a
non-profit adoption agency, our focus should be on the only real solution to the reality of
lostness. All the answers to respect for all human life and knowledge of the Creator of that life
reside in Jesus Christ.

Gods focus on sinful man

Gods focus which should be our passion, is found in 2 Peter 3:9b -The Lord .. is patient
toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. We must be
reminded that #lostlivesmatter. The gospel is the glue that brings together all the aspects our
work. All that a man or woman really needs is found in Jesus Christ.

The central issue of focus

Kirk Walden has said Though we want to crack the code to reach a wounded heart, we know
deep down that while certain tools can help, our most powerful and effective answer is intense
and dedicated love. This is central to our mission.

What better means to show our love than to share His love with the men and women we serve?
There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. Jesus did that. He died so
that men may live. He arose so that men may never fear death again. He commanded those who
name the Name of Christ to go and make disciples (Christ followers) of all nations (Matthew
28:19) This eternal focus needs to be the passion of all believers.

Lost lives do matter to God and they should matter to us as well, enough to make the gospel the
central focus of our prolife work. This central focus should involve every aspect of our work,
whether in options counseling, post-abortion /male support, chastity outreach, networking or
work with the local church.
Often we are challenged to broaden our services rather than deepen our focus on Christ. This is a
dangerous temptation often encouraged by personal pride, an attempt at immediate success rather
than time-honored faithfulness or frustration in the face of spiritual challenges to our prolife
efforts.

The consequences of an incorrect focus: The gospel message, the true focus of Christs
coming, the true power over sin and its ugly consequences, often takes second place in our work
because of our natural fear of rejection. Often, our desire to fix replaces our need to focus on
sharing Gods message of redemption through Jesus Christ.

The redemptive power of a proper focus: Cal Thomas has said that America does not
primarily suffer from failed leadership, but human sinfulness. We are not going to redeem
America from the outside through political leadership as important as that may be. The only
power that is going to redeem people comes from within.

The women we are privileged to see may be prolife or may become prolife as a result of their visit, but
often lack a personal relationship with the God who created them and the life within them.
#lostlivesmatter is more than a slogan, it is the central focus of a God who sent His only Son to redeem
us from the penalty, power and presence of our core problem sin.

C.S. Lewis, in his classic The Screwtape Letters said, Mans enemy, Satan sees no problem if
our work is behavior reformation as long as there is an absence of the true focus of spiritual
transformation. A visit to one of our centers may be the only opportunity a woman has to trust
Christ, and God is giving our centers thousands of opportunities each day. Allow God to seize
those opportunities.

Lets be reminded once again of our focus as Gods loving agents of change. For what shall it
profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36.
