II. Course Title : Introduction to Linguistics Pre-requisites: Eng 3
III.Course Description :
This course provides an overview of linguistics as a discipline, its development,
levels of structure and its significance to English language teaching.

IV. Course Objectives : At the end of the course, the students can:

A. Cognitive (Knowledge) :
1. Examine the various language components which give significance
to English language teaching.
2. Make inferences based on the different theories of linguistics.
3. Cite examples to validate theories of linguistics.
4. Share to the class the ideas related to linguistics.
B. Affective (Attitude) :
1. Manifest positive attitudes towards the study of linguistics.
2. Participate actively during the discussion.
C. Psychomotor (Skills) :
1. Prepare a schematic diagram of the different theories of linguistics.
2. Write a research paper using any of the theories of linguistics.
