To switch on syntax colouring and numbers, edit vimrc

For that use-> :edit ~./vimrc


Enter insert mode and then
syntax on
set number
To delete text: x
To undo: u
To delete a word: dw
To delete the previous: db
Use u to undo which undoes the last option
To insert mode: cw
To delete the entire line: dd
To insert line/ change line: cc
To delete two lines: 2dd
To delete and enter insert mode for the same: 2cc
Tip: Suppose you have a string in double quotes and you want to change whats ins
ide that. In order to do that, use ct". c for delete and t for insert the cursor
right before ".
Other option: ci" -> i stands for inside
To delete everything including the " : ca"
