Introduction introduces our outlined focus within the documentary,


providing context and to introduce running themes.

Voiceover: 114,790 households applied to their local authority for


homelessness assistance in 2015/16. This has risen 11% since
2010/11. The rise of homelessness can be seen widespread across
Britain, with many struggling in the economic world we live in.

Voiceover: Within this documentary we aim to shed light on the


struggles, help and situations associated to this vast issue of those
homeless in Britain today, focusing on Britains capital, London.

Voiceover: It is reported that homeless people are some of the most


vulnerable and socially excluded people in our society. More than 8,000
people slept rough on Londons streets during 2015/16.

Voiceover: Problems of job employment and rising housing costs are


amongst the causes for homelessness.

Voiceover: Charities help to decrease the struggle faced by many in


these tough situations; providing food, shelter and bedding.

Voiceover: We had the opportunity to speak to Nina from Hersham


food bank, who shed light on those who seek help from the bank and
also how they aid those in need.

social aspects that lead to homelessness, different people who visit the
food bank and how the charity works.
