BRIEF HISTORY OF JOS NORTH LGA

Jos North is a capital city of plateau sate of Nigeria. The local


government lies in the Guinea Savannah Belt. The area now
designated Jos North Local Area, came into being in September
1991 when the former Jos Local Government Area was split to
create Jos North and South Local Governments respectively.
Former Jos North that was carried covered an area of 1,695sq.km.
The 2006 census indicated that Jos North is populated by about
for People (population census 2006)

Jos North is consisting of Jos city center as well as some


surrounding villages of historical importance. One of such villages
is Naragnta village and others are Babale and some settlements
such as Rikkos, Tudunwada, Jenta Adamu, Jenta Mangoro etc. both
the city center and the surrounding villages and settlements are
cosmopolitan in Nature, populated by the Berom, Jarawa ( Afizere,
Anaguta and of conrse Hansal Fulani) others include the
prominent Nigerian tribe of Igbo, Kanuri e.t.c (Yusuf 2019).

RESEARCH DESIGN
Sample survey is the systematic plan or design that will be
adopted in this research work. It involves the study of a fraction of
the overall study population. This study focuses on Adult male
and female ages 20 and above that will represent the entire
population of study.

POPULATION OF STUDY
The population for the study will comprise of the (14) fourteen
electoral wards in Jos North Local Government of plateau state
were the heat of the crisis. The entire population of Jos North
Local Government is 437,217 which respondents from each of the
wards which are Naraguta A Naraguta B Abba Na shchu, Ali
Kazaure, Garba Daho, Gangare, Ibragim Kastina, Jenta Adamu,
Jenta Apata, Jos Jarawa, Sarkin Arab, Tudunwada Ikabong, Tafawa
Balewa, and venderpuye. (Census 2006).

SAMPLE SIZE
The sample size of 399 will be taken from 437 of population of the
area of study. The sample size is calculated using the yam and
formulary.

SAMPLE TECHNIQUE
Probability and simple random sampling are the sampling
techniques use for this study to arrive at a representative sample
of the population under study.
Probability sampling will be used to give each individual both
male and female the chance of being selected in the sample, the
method to be used is simple random sampling which will be used
to pick respondents through the process of lucky dip
METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
Data collected is through the primary and secondary sources. The
primary sources are data golden form the pried work using a well-
structured questionnaire that is administered to the respondents.
The secondary sources include textbooks magazines newspapers
internet archive and journals etc. questionnaire will be used
because it is convenient clear and easier to administer to such
category of the population of the location of study.
METHOD OF DATA ANALYSIS
The data that will be collected from the field will be analyzed
using the quantitative method of analysis using simple
percentage tables.
