shall indicate your room assignment for the entire duration of the examination.
3. You are required to wear at all times your Color-coded Identification Card, which will indicate your building
and floor assignment.
4. Black/blue fountain pen or sign pen for the essay exam and for filling up forms, and at least two (2) No. 2
pencils, an eraser and a sharpener for shading the MCQ answer sheets. You will need to bring both pens and pencils
for all four (4) Sundays.
5. Examinees may bring books, notes, or any other review materials, and a copy of these guidelines inside the
examination room but the same should be put aside at the sound of the first bell, fifteen (15) minutes before the
examination starts.
6. The rooms at the University of Sto. Tomas are fully airconditioned. You may bring sweaters or jackets for
your comfort and convenience.
Before Starting the Examination:
1. Familiarize yourself with the examination compound map ( ANNEX A).
2. You are required to come early. Take note of the times at which gates open and close as indicated above.
After the gates have closed, no one will be allowed to enter the campus without permission from the Chairman.
3. Examinees are not allowed to bring their vehicles inside the campus or park within the campus.
4. Examinees assigned to take the examination at St. Martin de Porres Building (Medicine Building) and St.
Raymonds Building (AB/Commerce Building) may enter the campus only through Gates 2 or 3 along Espaa
Boulevard. Examinees assigned to take the examination at the Benavides Building (Pay High School Building) and
the Main Building may enter the campus only through Gate 4 also along Espaa Boulevard.
5. Upon entering the gate be ready with your Notice of Admission and Color-coded Identification
Card, i.e. wear it around your neck, to expedite entry.
6. Submit yourself for inspection and deposit all gadgets to the security personnel assigned at the entrance.
7. Proceed to your room assignment and do not loiter.
8. Present the Notice of Admission to the headwatcher. Attend to your personal needs before the FIRST BELL
(15 minutes before the exam begins).
9. At the sound of the FIRST BELL, all books and notes should be placed in front of the room. An examinee
will be considered cheating if caught with notes or codigos during the examination
10. Begin answering at the sound of the SECOND BELL (signals the start of the exam). Anyone caught
answering before the Second Bell will be dealt with accordingly.
Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Exam Reminders:
1. Write your name, signature and Bar Examinee (B.E.) number on the MCQ ANSWER SHEET using
a pen. Shade the numbers corresponding to your B.E. number using a No. 2 pencil. See Sample MCQ ANSWER
SHEET (ANNEX B) and familiarize yourself with it.
2. Check the exam set you are answering and make sure that your questionnaire and answer sheet
match. Example: If your questionnaire is for Set A, your answer sheet should also be for Set A. Note that the exam
sets are color coded to assure that the questionnaire and answer sheet are matching.
3. Make sure that the subject (e.g. Labor Law) indicated in your answer sheet matches the subject of the exam
you are currently taking.
4. Ensure that each page of your questionnaire belongs to your corresponding exam set (e.g. Set B, page 3 of 9).
Check if you have all the pages of your questionnaire.
5. Use only a No. 2 pencil in shading the MCQ answer sheet. Do not use ink or any kind of pen since this will
not be read by the scanning machine and your answer will not be credited.
6. Answer the question by shading the circle completely. Avoid erasures on the answer sheet. But if you must,
erase cleanly any answer you wish to change. See ANNEX B for Marking Instructions.
7. See to it that the number you are shading in the answer sheet pertains to the corresponding question in the
questionnaire; otherwise, you might end up shading the wrong number for the rest of the examination.
8. Do not shade more than one circle per number; a number with two or more answers will automatically be
marked wrong.
9. Do not explain your answers, you will not earn any credit for that.
10. Keep the answer sheet clean. Do not make any unnecessary marks on it. Do not fold, roll, scratch, crumple
or tear it.
11. You may write on the questionnaire and use it as scratch paper but make sure to transfer your answer to the
answer sheet. Provide ample time to transfer the answers, if you choose to do this.
12. Budget your time accordingly: Major subjects have 100 questions to be answered in 2 hours, minor subjects
have 75 questions (Legal Ethics shall have 50 questions only) to be answered in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
13. The THIRD BELL signals that only 5 minutes are left before the end of the examination.
14. Check your answers before submitting your papers.
15. The FOURTH BELL signifies the end of the exam and would require the examinee to submit his answer
sheet together with the questionnaire to the headwatcher.
Essay Exam Reminders:
1. Only fountain pens and sign pens in permanent blue, blue-black or black ink should be used during essay
examinations. Variation in the color of ink and the style of your handwriting should be avoided.
2. Check that you have four (4) Essay Grading Sheets (ANNEX C) attached to your answer pad.
3. Write your name and signature using your pen at the lower part of the grading sheet. You will only be
required to write your name and signature on one of the four grading sheets.
4. Write your B.E. number on the Essay Grading Sheet using your pen and shade the corresponding numbers
using a No. 2 pencil. Do this on all four (4) grading sheets.
5. Do not mark or write on the examiners' grading portion. Do not draw or make any unnecessary marks on
your final answer pad.
6. Write your answers legibly and avoid erasures.
7. Use your draft pad for preparing a draft of the trial memorandum and legal opinion expected of you. Write
your final answer on the final answer pad. Thus, allow ample time to transfer your draft to the final answer pad. If
you wish however, you may write your answers directly on the final answer pad. Only the final answer pad will be
given to the examiners for checking.
8. You may write on the questionnaire or use it as scratch paper. You must return the same to the headwatcher
after the exam together with your draft pad and final answer pad.
9. Erasures are allowed even on the final pad. Simply draw a line across the word or words you want to change.
10. Write your answers on one side of the paper only on the face and not on the back page. Limit your final
answer to the 15-page final answer pad.
11. The THIRD BELL during the essay exam signifies that only one (1) hour is left before the end of the
examination and warns the examinee to finalize his answer in the final answer pad.
12. The FOURTH BELL would then signify the end of the exam and would require the examinee to submit his
draft pad, final answer pad, and questionnaire.
After Finishing the Examination:
1. After every examination and before leaving the room, ask for your Notice of Admission from the
headwatcher, who shall accomplish the certification on its back.
2. Your Notice of Admission will be retained by the headwatcher at the end of the last examination (Legal
Opinion Writing essay exam).

Building, on park benches, the gazebo area inside the Main Building, and inside the canteens located in the Benavides
and St. Martin de Porres Buildings. Examinees may also take their lunch outside the campus but must return before
