1, INTROUDUCTION
Scissor jacks are simple mechanisms used to drive large loads over short distances in to translator
motion. Most scissor jacks are similar in design. Consisting of four main memes driven by a power screw.
The power screw of scissor jacks greatly reduce the amount of force required by the user to drive the
mechanism.
This report is about fem analysis of already designed scissor jack with a software called ANSYS. This
jack is designed for heavy duty vehicles and design load is taken 50,000 N.

2, MATERIAL PROPERTIES
Structural steel is the material used for all components of the scissor jack. The following table briefly
elaborates properties of this material. Those properties are taken at a reference temperature of 22 degrees
Celsius.
