NEBS Requirements

NEBS (Network Equipment-Building System) describes the environment of a typical United States
Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) central office (CO). NEBS is the most common set of
safety, spatial and environmental design guidelines applied to telecommunications equipment in the
United States. It is an industry requirement, but not a legal requirement. Telcordia now manages
the NEBS specifications.
NEBS Level 3 is a term from Bellcore special report SR-3580, and means the equipment meets all
of the requirements of GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE. NEBS Level 3 has strict specifications for
fire suppression, thermal margin testing, vibration resistance (earthquakes), air flow patterns,
acoustic limits, failover and partial operational requirements (such as chassis fan failures), failure
severity levels, RF emissions and tolerances, and testing/certification requirements.
Alteon NEBS-certified platforms meet the NEBS Level 3 design guidelines requirements,
The following Alteon platform(s) are NEBS certified: 4416 6420

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

2. Attach the platform to the rack with the mounting screws.

3. Connect at least one ground wire from the platform chassis to the rack. Typically, the platform
has one or two ground screws on the back panel near the screws that secure the power supply.

Note: After you mount the platform, ensure that there is adequate air flow surrounding it.

Warning: Reliable grounding of the rack and all rack-mounted equipment should be maintained.
Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the
branch circuit (for example, use of power strips).

Warning: The DC mains, supplied from the building installation, must be insulated from the AC
mains with a double or reinforced insulation. It also must be entirely connected to protective earth
within the building.

Warning: For the DC mains, the positive pole must be connected to the ground through the
building installation.

Warning: Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow
required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.

Warning: Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not
achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.

Warning: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit
and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply
wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing
this concern.

Caution: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of
the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given
to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature
specified in Appendix A - Specifications, for the specific platform.

Notes
The areas between the rack mounting brackets and the chassis must be cleaned and antioxidant
must be applied before bonding together.
This all applies to the front mounting ears, rear mounting ears and the middle mounting ears
that are used with platform rack mounting.
The front and rear brackets are mandatory and the mid brackets are optional.
19 rack mount brackets or 23 rack mount brackets can be provided per customer demand.

NEBS Requirements

This section describes the NEBS requirements for installation of the NEBS-certified Alteon platform
and rack in which the platform is mounted.
There are three NEBS levels:
NEBS Level 1 means a very low threshold of equipment hazards and network degradation.
NEBS Level 1 addresses the personnel and equipment safety requirements of GR-63-CORE and
GR-1089-CORE. Operability requirements are not enforced for NEBS Level 1 certification. It is
primarily used for getting prototypes into lab trials. RBOCs require all equipment deployed by
CLECs to be NEBS Level 1 certified.
NEBS Level 2 addresses equipment operability in a controlled environment (usually data
centers) that will not be subjected to environmental stress. Because of ambiguity, this level of
certification is rarely (if ever) used.
NEBS Level 3 is a term from a Bellcore special report, SR-3580, and means the equipment
meets all of the requirements of GR-63-CORE and GR-1089-CORE. NEBS Level 3 has strict
specifications for fire suppression, thermal margin testing, vibration resistance (earthquakes),
air flow patterns, acoustic limits, failover and partial operational requirements (such as chassis
fan failures), failure severity levels, RF emissions and tolerances, and testing/certification
requirements.

Rack and Platform

The rack in which an Alteon platform is mounted must be in a Network Telecommunication Facility
only. The NEBS-certified Alteon platform and rack in which the platform is mounted must be
installed in a restricted access location.
The NEBS-certified Alteon platform and rack in which the platform is mounted must be grounded to
a Common Bonding Network.

Warning: The intrabuilding ports of the equipment or subassembly is suitable for connection to
intrabuilding or unexposed wiring or cabling only. The intra-building ports of the equipment or
subassembly MUST NOT be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the OSP or its wiring.
These interfaces are designed for use as intra-building interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4 ports as
described in GR-1089-CORE, Issue 6) and require isolation from the exposed OSP cabling. The
addition of Primary Protectors is not sufficient protection to connect these interfaces metallically to
OSP wiring.

Grounding Prerequisites
This unit can be configured to DC-I only
Only copper cables, 6 AWG or larger, must be used for grounding purposes.
When mounting a Alteon platform with a DC power supply, battery return terminals must be in
the configuration of an Isolated DC Return (DC-I).
The Alteon platform must be connected to the grounding wire by means of the grounding screw
using a listed two-hole copper compression lug (Panduit LCD6-10A-L).
Bare conductors must be coated with antioxidant before making crimp connections.
The primary ground screws are M6 and should be installed with a torque of 4.30Nm, +/-
0.43Nm.
A star washer (tooth washer) must be used next to opposite sides of the grounding lug or
terminal (see Figure 16 - Proper Grounding, page 52). This provides the proper locking
mechanism. The internal tooth washer removes paint from the chassis to establish a metal-to-
metal contact to the unplated surface.
The following diagram shows the proper grounding connection to an Alteon platform.

Site and Installation Planning

When planning basic site and installation requirements you need to consider the following issues:
Adequate power should be available.
The platform should be positioned in a way that the power source is easy to reach.
There should be sufficient space in racks to install the platform.
Suitable equipment should be available to lift the platform into the rack.
There should be an unrestricted area for inlet and outlet of the fans and therefore the air flow is
not blocked.

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

For installation in a restricted access location.

For use by trained personnel only.

Environmental Requirements
To ensure proper function of the platform, ensure that the environment in which it is to be used
fulfills the environmental requirements.
The environmental values must be tested and proven in the planned platform configuration, that is,
the delivered platform and other third-party products you want to integrate.

Notes:
Operating temperatures refer to the temperature of the air circulating at the air intake of the
platform and not to component temperatures.
Some of the climatic values may exceed the specification of some components (for example,
hard disks). Radware cannot guarantee the functionality of third party products that are handled
or operated out of their specifications, the environmental conditions may be limited to the
specifications of these components.
See Appendix A - Specifications, page 113 for the environmental requirements.

Power Requirements
For DC, ensure that a suitable -48.0 VDC to -60 VDC rated power source is within reach of the
system.

Warning: The DC system is supplied by a TNV-2 voltage. This voltage is considered hazardous.
Ensure that the external power supply meets the relevant safety standards. Ensure that TNV-2 is
separated from dangerous voltages (mains) through double or reinforced insulation.

Rack/Cabinet Cooling Guidelines

It is important to have sufficient open space at the front and rear of the platform when installed in a
rack or cabinet. Depending on whether the enclosure has solid or vented doors will determine the
recommended open space required. Follow these guidelines for positioning the platform to allow for
the optimal open space for air inlet and exhaust.

Caution: Do not obstruct the ventilation openings at the top, sides and back of the platform.

Mounting Options and Stabilization

The Alteon platform is designed to be mounted in an equipment rack while maintaining conformance
to the NEBS 24" deep lineup and the ETSI 600mm deep lineup standards for telecommunication
equipment. For increased stability, Radware recommends that the rack is securely mounted to the
floor, or if using stabilizing devices make sure they are installed and extended.

Weight Distribution Within a Rack

Warning: To avoid personal injury or damage to the equipment, plan your installation so that
(within the limitations of equipment and cabling):

Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609 53

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

The weight of the equipment is evenly distributed in the rack.

The heaviest units are mounted nearer the bottom of the rack.
Uneven mechanical loading of the rack may cause toppling.

Caution: Unstable platform installation in a rack can cause the rack to topple over. Therefore, if
your platform is the only one in the rack, make sure to mount it in the lowest part of the rack. If
other platforms are installed in one rack, start with the heaviest component at the bottom. If the
rack is equipped with stabilizing devices, make sure that they are installed and extended so that the
rack is secure. Then proceed to mount or service the platform. Do not tilt the platform forward or
backward when removing it from the package as components at the bottom could be damaged.

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Safety Procedures

Radware strongly recommends that you use an anti-static wrist strap and a conductive foam pad
when installing or upgrading a platform. Electronic components can be extremely sensitive to
electrostatic discharge (ESD). After removing the component from its protective wrapper or from
the platform, place the component flat on a grounded, static-free surface. Do not slide the
component over any surface If an ESD station is not available, you can avoid damage resulting from
ESD by wearing an anti-static wrist strap (available at electronics stores) that is attached to an
active electrical ground. Note that a platform may not be grounded if it is unplugged.

Notes
There is one earth ground located at the back of the platform.
There are three ESD bonding points, two on the front and one on the back of the platform.

Installing the NEBS Platform

The Alteon platform can be mounted in a 23" EIA or 600mm ETSI frame using front mounting
brackets. Using rear mounting brackets is recommended for all frame types when installed in a
Central Office Environment. Front or rear mounting brackets are not shipped with this product. For
assistance with the acquisition or design of mounting brackets for your particular application,
contact your Radware representative.

Warning: Do not mount a single platform at the top of the rack. A top-heavy rack can tip, causing
damage to equipment and injury to personnel.

Warning: Do not use the power module handles for lifting the platform. Ensure that you have the
appropriate equipment to safely lift and mount the platform securely. To avoid personal injury or
damage to the equipment, use two persons for the installation procedure.

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

23" EIA Rack/Cabinet Installation

Front mounting brackets are required to attach the platform to an EIA 23" frame.
1. Locate the standard mounting hole and slot locations on the front mounting flanges on the
platform.
2. Fasten the mounting brackets to the back side of the front chassis flanges using M6 screws x
12mm at each of the four locations.
3. Be sure to mount the platform with metal screws or bolts that give a good electrical connection
between the screws or bolts and the mounting surface.
4. Tighten all screws using a torque setting of 35.5 to 38.5 inch-pounds.

Caution: Failure to observe proper grounding practices may cause a variety of noise, electrostatic
discharge, and RFI problems.

600mm ETSI Rack/Cabinet Installation

The platform mounts directly from the integrated flange on the front of the platform.
1. Locate the standard mounting hole and slot locations on the front integrated mounting flanges
on the platform.

Grounding the Platform

Use a 6 AWG wire with a 2-hole copper lug and connect directly to the earth ground point located on
the back of the platform; connect the other end of the wire to a reliable earth ground. Use the
torque setting required by the connector supplier. The 2-hole lug prevents rotation of the lug and
ensures a permanent bonding of ground to the platform.

Note: The primary ground screws are M6 and should be installed with a torque of 4.30Nm, +/-
0.43Nm.

Warning: Reliable grounding of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. The rack must be
properly grounded. Connect at least one ground wire from the platform chassis to the rack.
Typically, the platform has one or two special ground screws on the back panel near the screws that
secure the power supply.

Installing the Platform

DC Power Cable
Power is introduced to the platform at the DC inlet located in the rear of the platform. The
recommended power cable is a 6 AWG gauge that meets the specifications for this platform. There
are two lugs for each DC feed.

Caution: Always check with your local building authorities for wire sizing requirements for your
environment. The installation must comply with the 1993 National Electric Code (NEC) and other
applicable codes. The DC power inputs must only be attached to approved Telephone Network
Voltage (TNV) or SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) branch circuits. Branch circuits must comply with
all requirements called for in these safety standards: IEC 60950, EN 60950, CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.
60950. Attaching inputs to non-TNV/SELV approved power sources will cause the system to fail
compliance with safety regulations. The ground wire must be connected to a reliable earth ground
connection to comply with Class 1 Equipment requirements.

Warning: Multiple power sources are present. Service only by qualified service personnel.

Table 13: DC Power Cable

Wire Signal
Earth Ground PE GND (Primary Earth Ground)
Input Power -48VDC/-60VDC
Return -48VDC/-60VDC RETURN

DC Power Cable Termination

Use lugs that accommodate large gauge wires for up to 60 Amps DC (6 AWG) when connecting to
the power module. To minimize shorting of the terminals, the lugs must be insulated according to
the following.

Note: Heat shrink should be placed as close to the hole as possible (0.15") apart.

Connecting the DC Cables

In a redundant configuration, each power module must be connected to a separate DC power
source. Power is introduced to each power module through the terminal blocks on the rear of the
chassis (power input cable and return cable). The lugs provide secure contact for the cable and
prevent the power cables from rotating. A plastic housing covers the power feeds and returns.

Caution: To cable a DC system, read all cautions and warnings, properly ground the equipment by
following the grounding procedures, and follow these steps. This procedure assumes that the power
modules are pre-installed in the platform.

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

To connect the DC cables

1. Have the following tools on hand before you begin these steps: standard Phillips screwdriver, nut
driver, torque wrench, multimeter, and lugs.
2. Locate the target power input cables terminals at the branch circuit or power distribution unit.
Open the external circuit breakers that provide DC feed power to the chassis.
3. Lock and tag out the circuit breakers on the branch circuit or power distribution unit.

Warning: Cables may or may not be pre-installed at the branch circuit or power distribution unit. If
the DC power cables are not connected to the branch circuit or power distribution unit, connect the
power cables to the chassis before connecting the DC power cables to the external power source. If
the DC power cables are connected to the branch circuit or power distribution unit, a qualified
service person must confirm that the power to the cables is terminated (off) before continuing the
steps to attach the cables to the power modules. In either case, use a multimeter to check the
power module end of the terminals to confirm there is no power present.
4. Using the appropriate tool, carefully remove the plastic covering over the terminal blocks.
5. Confirm that there is no power to the chassis lug bolts. Using a multimeter, measure between
the two lugs and then measure between the chassis ground and each lug. If the DC potential is
3.0VDC or less, then power is not present.
6. Attach the DC power cables (input and return) to the dual lug bolts on each chassis power feed.
7. Using a torque wrench, tighten the nuts with a recommended torque setting of 35.5 to 38.5
inch-pounds. Make sure all DC leads are fastened securely.
8. Replace the plastic cover over the terminal blocks.
9. Verify that the power module circuit breakers are in the ON position.
10. Break the tag out or lockout seals on the branch circuit or power distribution unit.
11. Apply power by closing the branch circuit or power distribution unit. The OOS indicator LED will
glow solid red and the other LEDs will go dark. The OOS will not go dark and the IS indicator LED
will not illuminate until the external power circuit breakers are closed.
12. Verify that all FRU LEDs illuminate and the IS LED of the power module is green, and the OOS
LED is dark.

DC System Power-up and Power-down Procedure

Depending on the platform configuration, the actual powering up may take up to 3 minutes.
Make sure that the platform has been placed in a location at room temperature for at least 24 hours
before powering it up.

To startup a DC system
1. Put on an ESD wrist strap.
2. Connect the strap to the platform by attaching the front or rear ESD jack/ESD snap.
3. Mount the grounding cable to the Protective Earth connection lug if not done already.
4. Set the breakers on the power module faceplates to the OFF (tripped) position if they are not
already in this position.

Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609 57

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Installing the Platform

5. Make sure that the external power feeds you plan to attach are powered off and cannot be
switched on while you are working.
6. Attach the power cables with 2 hole lugs to the DC power inlet in the rear of the platform.
7. Energize the power feeds at the external device.
8. Push the power module breakers to the ON position.
9. Verify that all LEDs illuminate and the In Service LED of the power module is green. The system
executes its normal start-up routine and is then ready to use.

Note: Ensure that the DC and DC return are connected correctly. Applying reversed power causes
damage to the electrolytic capacitors of the filter

Warning: Cover all open module slots and put all approved filler panels in place before turning on
power. This is necessary to properly cool the chassis and to avoid electrical shock and other possible
hazards. Slot covers and panels must remain in place during platform operation.

Note: If the power is disconnected and reconnected (for example, after the power cord is removed
and replaced, or after a power failure), the platform returns to its previous state. For example, if the
platform was running, and then you disconnect the power cord, when you reconnect the power cord,
the platform automatically switches on.

DC System Power-Down Procedure

To power down the DC system

1. Power down the platform using system management software.
2. Toggle both power module breakers to the OFF position.
3. Verify that the LEDs of the power modules are off.

Initial Configuration
After installed, the platform requires some administrative configuration before it can be used
effectively.

Alteon provides a console port, a management port, and network ports that can be used for
configuring and managing the Alteon platform. This section explains how to establish a connection
using these ports and to perform the initial management port configuration if required.

Note: Make sure the connectivity between your client station and the Alteon platform is not blocked
by a firewall.

Establishing a Console Connection

The configuration of the management port depends on the Alteon platform. This procedure is
applicable for Alteon platforms: 4416 5224 5412 6420

Note: The procedure for configuring the management port for Alteon 4408 and is detailed below.

Although Alteon can be managed from any network port, the exclusive management port, MNG 1
saves wasting a port that could otherwise be used for processing data and traffic. This management
port can use Telnet CLI, SSH CLI, SNMP, HTTP, or HTTPS, and is isolated from and does not
participate in the networking protocols that run on the network ports.
The management port must be configured with a static IP address, subnet mask, and default
gateway, and must be enabled before it can be used.

Note: Only management port MNG 1 is operational. The port labeled MNG 2 is reserved for future
use.

Note: For information regarding the various pin-outs of the communications connectors, see Serial
Cable Pin Assignment, page 125.

To establish a console connection

1. Using the serial cable, connect the Alteon console port to an ASCII terminal or computer running
terminal emulation.

Note: If you turn on the power to the Alteon platform only after connecting the console, you may
see the message "Type "maint" and press "Enter" to initiate", which refers to accessing the device's
maintenance mode and should be ignored.

2. Do one of the following:

Installing the APM Server

This section describes how to install the APM server for Application Performance Monitoring (APM).
APM enables you to view real application-performance statistics of services configured on Alteon
devices. To use the APM, you must configure the APM server that is customized to work with APM.
The server installation is in an Open Virtualization Appliance (OVA) file. The administrator deploys
the file in a VMware vSphere environment. The APM server runs on VMware virtual machine, and
requires an existing VMware vSphere environment.
This section requires an existing VMware vSphere environment, basic knowledge of VMware and
how to install and use it.
For more information on VMware installation procedures and OVA deployment, refer to the VMware
documentation.
During OVA deployment, attach the network interfaces based on the Linux configuration.

APM Server Requirements

To install the external APM server, you must have the following:
A fully functioning VMware infrastructure running VMware ESXi 4.1 or 5.1, virtual machine
version 7.

Chapter 4 Alteon VA Installation and
Configuration
Alteon Virtual Appliance (VA) is an Alteon Application Switch packaged as a virtual appliance running
on server virtualization infrastructure, providing identical functionality to the physical Alteon ADC
devices including local and global server load balancing, Layer 7 capabilities, and application
acceleration.
Alteon VA is part of Radware's Virtual Application Delivery Infrastructure (VADI) architecture, which
integrates the ADC and virtualization services.
Alteon VA is one of the three ADC form factors offered as part of Radware's VADI architecture, along
with a dedicated Alteon device and a vADC instance running on the ADC-VX hypervisor.

Figure 17: Radwares Alteon VA and VADI Architecture

Alteon VA provides ADC virtualization with ADC-VX, the ADC virtualization and consolidation
platform based on a specialized ADC hypervisor. ADC-VX is built on architecture that virtualizes the
resources of the Alteon ADC platform including CPU, memory, network and acceleration resources.
This specialized hypervisor runs fully functional virtual ADC instances, each of which delivers ADC
functionality just like a dedicated physical ADC device. Each virtual ADC instance contains a
complete and separated environment of resources, configurations, and management.
This chapter describes the installation and configuration instructions for the various VA platforms
and includes the following sections:
ADC Form Factors, page 67
Alteon VA for VMware Installation and Configuration, page 68.
Alteon VA for KVM Installation and Configuration, page 71.
Alteon VA for Microsoft Hyper-V Installation and Configuration, page 72
Initial Deployment of Alteon VA, page 80.
Obtaining and Installing a Permanent License for Alteon VA, page 82.

ADC Form Factors

Radwares VADI infrastructure supports various ADC form factors or platforms:
Dedicated ADC The traditional Alteon ADC hardware.
vADC A virtualized instance of the Alteon operating system, running on the ADC-VX,
Radwares ADC hypervisor that enables multiple vADCs on top of a dedicated Alteon ADC.

Alteon VA for VMware Installation and Configuration

To set up Alteon VA for VMware, you must first obtain the Open Virtualization Format (OVF) package
for Alteon VA provided by Radware.

Note: Alteon VA over VMware supports ESX versions: 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 5.5.

Installation Prerequisites
Fully functioning VMware infrastructure, including:
A VMware ESX server (versions: 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 5.5)
An installed vSphere client
OVF/OVA package from Radware

Notes
The Open Virtualization Format (OVF) is an open standard for packaging and distributing
virtual appliances or more generally software to be run on virtual machines. The OVF standard is
not tied to any particular hypervisor or processor architecture. The unit of packaging and
distribution is called an OVF Package which may contain one or more virtual systems each of
which can be deployed to a virtual machine. An OVF package consists of several files, placed in
one directory.
The Open Virtualization Appliance (OVA) is a one-file alternative package, a TAR file with
the OVF directory inside. So if you want to share your VM on the Internet you can create a single
OVA file (similar to a zip file). To consume the file, you have to convert it first to OVF (just like
you unzip a file before you use it).

Switching Between System Modes

The Alteon image supports both ADC-VX and standalone modes. When initially installed, Alteon is
configured as standalone mode. You can switch between these two modes using a single command.
There are two options for switching between modes:
Standalone to ADC-VX The administrator selects an ADC-VX infrastructure image from which
to boot.
ADC-VX to Standalone The administrator selects an ADC application image.
Regardless of the mode which is booted, the system does not delete old configuration files.

Caution: If you remove all infrastructure images, the image switching process cannot be initiated.

Switching from Standalone to ADC-VX Mode

Switching from standalone to ADC-VX mode includes both the software and the configuration files.
The following boot options are available:
Boot with factory defaults
Boot with the last known configuration
When booting with the last known configuration, the image IDs stored in the configuration file are
used. If the image bank is empty, the assigned default image is used. The last known ADC-VX
configuration includes both ADC settings and vADCs.

Note: For the initial installation, the last known configuration is empty.

To switch from standalone to ADC-VX mode

> In the Boot menu, select virtual.

>> Standalone ADC - Boot Options# virtual

Boot options:
1.Factory defaults
2.Last known ADC-VX configuration
Select ADC-VX boot option (1-2):2
Boot with current 28.1.0.0 ADC-VX infrastructure image? [y|n] y

The system boots up with the following settings:

The ADC-VX infrastructure boots with the pre-installed version and the vADCs are loaded
based on the image IDs originally set for them.
The standalone configuration file is still available to the system but is not visible to the vADC
system administrator.
This procedure prevents combining the configuration import and operational mode
transformation.

Switching from ADC-VX to Standalone Mode

When you switch from ADC-VX to standalone mode, ADC-VX images and ADC-VX configuration files
are not deleted from their respective banks as a result of switching modes.

to the Global Administrator (VLANs and port association).

Note: Always use the settings available to the vADC, including the management address,
management access mode, syslog service, and so on.

To switch a vADC to a standalone ADC

> In the Active Switch Configuration Boot menu, select single.

Managing Configuration Files

To ensure off-device configuration backup, you should always save existing configurations of each
Alteon platform. It is advised to save configurations periodically on the physical platform.
For information on managing the configuration files, see the Alteon Application Switch Operating
System Command Reference.

Upgrading the Alteon Application Switch

You can upgrade your Alteon platform with newer software releases. Your maintenance contract
determines whether you are entitled to new software versions with new features or only
maintenance versions.
Check with Technical Support for version availability before performing software download or
upgrade.

Notes
Alteon VA installation and upgrade up to version 30.0 requires a minimum 2 GB memory
Alteon VA installation and upgrade to version 30.0.1 and up requires a minimum 3 GB memory
Alteon VA upgrades from versions earlier than 29.5 is not supported due to kernel changes.
Before you can upgrade the platform, you first need to download the new software image file.

Downloading the Software Image File

You can download the software image from the website:
http://portals.radware.com/Customer/Home/Downloads/Application-Delivery-Load-Balancing/
?Product=
Select the Download Software icon for the product version and platform you want to upgrade.
Make this file available on the host and run FTP/TFTP/SCP server for the directory where the Alteon
software is located.
The image filename is in the following format (depending on platform/version):
-(VX-)<version>-<platform>.img
Example: -29.0.0.0-5412.img
OS-<version>-<platform>(-VX)(-ADC).img

Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609 85

Examples:
OS-29.0.0.0-5412.img
OS-29.0.0.0-6000.img
OS-29.0.0.0-6000-VX.img
OS-29.0.0.0-6000-ADC.img

Note: The build for platform 5000.6000 supports platforms 5224, 5412, and 6420.

An upgrade password is required when you upgrade to a higher major version, identified by the two
left-most numbers. For example, an upgrade from 29.0.x to 29.3.x.
You must obtain this password before you load the upgrade file onto the Alteon platform. If you do
not supply the correct password during the upgrade process, you cannot upgrade, Alteon aborts the
upgrade process, and reverts to the installed version of software.
You can obtain this password from the website:
http://portals.radware.com/Customer/Home/Tools/Password-Generator/
The upgrade password is based on the base MAC address (of the first interface) of your platform and
on the version software file size.
An upgrade to a minor version (for example, from 29.3.1.0 to 29.3.2.0) does not require a
password.

Upgrading the
An upgrade enables the new features and functions on the platform without altering the existing
configuration. In exceptional circumstances, new firmware versions are incompatible with legacy
configuration files from earlier versions. This most often occurs when you attempt to upgrade from
very old firmware to the most recently available version.

Notes
Radware recommends saving the existing configuration before upgrading.
Disable session mirroring before upgrading.
Perform any required configuration changes before upgrading.

To upgrade the Alteon software version

1. Save the configuration of the main (primary) and backup (secondary) platforms and upload
them to the server.
Use the all option to ensure the configuration includes all vADCs.
Supply a passkey to include all private keys needed for a full configuration backup.

Note: This full configuration backup will be needed in case of a future downgrade.

2. Load the new software to the backup platform.

86 Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Maintenance and Software Upgrade

Enter the command /boot/gtimg

Note: For more information on the upgrade command and options, see the Alteon Application
Switch Operating System Command Reference.

3. Disable all data ports on the backup platform.

Enter the command /cfg/port x/dis
Apply and save the configuration.

Note: Alternatively, you can disable the data ports on the platform that they are connected to.

4. Upgrade the backup platform to the new image.

Enter the command /boot/image
5. Enable all data ports on the backup platform.
Enter the command /cfg/port x/ena
Apply and save the configuration.

Note: If you disabled the data ports, enable them.

6. Verify that VRRP status changed to backup.

7. Perform failover to the backup platform by disabling all the data ports of the master platform (as
step 3 above). Ensure that a VRRP failover was activated by verifying that the secondary
platform VRRP status is now master/active.
8. Load new software to the main platform.
9. When the system reboots, the upgrade of the main platform to the new software release starts.
10. After the upgrade procedure finishes and the Alteon promt displays, log into the system.
11. Enable all data ports on the main platform.
12. Return to the main platform if needed.

Notes
Due to changes in the configuration file structure to support new features and update current
ones, after the upgrade it is possible that the diff or diff flash will not be empty. To fix this, you
must apply and save the entire configuration file. If no change was performed to the
configuration (that is, the diff is empty), perform any change in the configuration and perform
the apply and save (for example perform the command /cfg/sys/idle X/apply/save).
When you install a new software image on hardware platforms, the currently loaded BIOS is
updated if it does not match the new BIOS. If you are instructed by Technical Support to do so,
you can force the BIOS installation even if the version remains unchanged, using the following
syntax: /boot/image image1|image2 -f

Downgrading the Alteon (Rollback)

Note: Before performing upgrade, back up your current configuration. In case of version rollback,
after the downgrade, boot Alteon from the factory configuration and manually upload the saved
configuration.

Validation is performed on saved configurations. Upon downgrade, parameters that were changed
and/or added since the previous version may not be supported and you may experience unapplied
configuration parameters.
When downgrading to a version earlier than 28.1.5.0 the configuration is restored to the factory
default, preserving the IPv4 management interface access. Therefore, Radware recommends saving
the configuration and reload it after the rollback.

Notes
When downgrading an ADC-VX system to a version that does not support ADC-VX, Alteon does
not boot and you must set the vADC version using the command /boot/image adc.
Due to changes in the configuration file structure to support new features or change of existing
ones, after the downgrade it is possible that the diff or diff flash will not be empty. To fix this,
you must apply and save the entire configuration file. If no change was performed to the
configuration (that is, the diff is empty), perform any change in the configuration and perform
the apply and save (for example perform the command /cfg/sys/idle X/apply/save).

Licensing Mechanism
The licensing mechanism is designed to provide an easy path for adding product capabilities and
scaling up capacity after the initial product purchase, without service interruption. There is no need
for Alteon platform replacement or even reboot.
A license is based on the MAC address of the Alteon platform and is a one-time license; after a
license is changed, the old license key cannot be re-used.
There are two types of licenses: capabilities license and capacity licenses.

Capabilities License
This license is available on all platforms and allows customers to add product-specific capabilities.
This license is accumulative - it can enable multiple license-based capabilities (features). When you
purchase subsequent features, the permanent license string is modified to include the new
supported features.
The licensed capabilities include:
slbBasic Load Balancing (always present - provided by default)
cookieCookie Persistency
globalGlobal Server Load Balancing
llbInbound Link Load Balancing
bwmBandwidth Management
adosAdvanced Denial of Service (ADoS) Protection
itmBandwidth Management plus Security

88 Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Maintenance and Software Upgrade

The capabilities license string that you get from Technical Support has the following syntax:
aas-slb-[<feature1>-<feature2>-<featureN>-password
where
feature1 through featureN are strings separately representing licensed features.
password is a generated string based on the Base MAC address of the platform.

Capacity Licenses
These licenses define the capacity levels enabled on the Alteon platform and allow for smooth on-
demand capacity scalability, by installing new software keys on the Alteon platform.
Capacity levels are monitored and alerts can be sent to the console, Telnet and SSH interfaces and
Syslog servers when a configured threshold is passed or a capacity level is reached, thus advising
when capacity increase is required. For more information, see the /cfg/sys/alerts menu in the
Alteon Application Switch Operating System Command Reference.
The capacity license string that you get from Technical Support has the following syntax:
<capacity type>-<capacity level>-password
where
capacity type is the capacity type enabled by the license.
capacity level is the capacity level enabled by the license.
password is a generated string based on the Base MAC address of the platform.

The following types of capacity licenses are available on Alteon platforms:

Throughput License
The throughput license determines the maximum throughput allowed, measured as total
outbound throughput via all data ports (for Alteon 4408 platforms, measured as total inbound
throughput via all data ports) and enables throughput capacity upgrade.
License string: <throughput level>-password
SSL License
The SSL license controls the number of new SSL connections per second (new SSL handshakes)
that Alteon can process and enables SSL offload capacity upgrade.
License string: aas-ssl-<SSL CPS level>-password
Compression Throughput License
The Compression Throughput license defines the HTTP compression capacity level and enables
capacity upgrade (compression throughput in Mbps).
License string: aas-compression-<compression throughput level>-password

Temporary Evaluation License

A temporary license is prov ided for new features that you want to evaluate after you have upgraded
to a new version of Alteon and have installed at least one permanent license. A temporary
evaluation license lasts for 30 days, and is disabled after that period if you do not upgrade it to be
included as part of your permanent license. The license expiration timer is based on the Alteon
platform uptime and not calendar days. To obtain a temporary evaluation license, contact Technical
Support.
The same command can be used for installing permanent and evaluation licenses.

ADC-VX Licenses
The following licenses can be installed on an ADC-VX platform:

Document ID: RDWR-ALOS-V2909_IG1609 89

Alteon Installation and Maintenance Guide
Maintenance and Software Upgrade

vADC License
This license defines the number of vADCs that can be defined on an ADC-VX platform and
enables vADC capacity upgrade.
License string: aas-vadc-<no. of vADCs>-password.
Capacity Licenses
These licenses determine the respective capacity license per platform. Allocation of the total
capacity between vADC instances must be performed by the Global Administrator. All Alteon
capacity licenses (throughput, SSL, compression, APM) are available for ADC-VX. The capacity
licenses determine the respective capacity license per platform, allocation of that total capacity
between vADC instances must be performed by the Global Administrator
Enterprise Services License
This license defines the number of advanced capabilities bundles (enterprise services) available
on the platform. An Enterprise Services bundle includes all advanced features - Global Server
Load Balancing (global), Inbound Link Load Balancing (llb), Bandwidth Management (bwm),
Advanced DoS (ados) and ITM.
License string: aas-ESRV-<no. of ESRV>-password or aas-cookie-ESRV-<no. of ESRV>-
password.

Note: Each enterprise license instance can be fully or partially assigned to a vADC by enabling
the vADC features using the /cfg/vadc/swf command. The features included in one enterprise
license instance cannot be distributed to more than one vADC.

Cookie License
This license enables cookie persistency. This license is accumulative with the Enterprise Services
license.
License string: aas-cookie-password or aas-cookie-ESRV-<no of ESRV>-password.

New License Installation

To install a new license, enter the /oper/swkey command, and enter the license key provided to
you by Technical support.

Chapter 6 Alteon VA Recovery and License
Migration Procedure
Creating a new VM machine to replace a failed machine (recovery procedure) requires the re-
installation of the VA licenses. Because the Alteon licenses are dependent on the virtual MAC
address assigned to the original VA, to use the same licenses, the new VA must have the same MAC
address as the original VA. Otherwise, the new VA will need new licenses.
To migrate the VA licenses to the new machine, it is crucial that a list of license strings and MAC
address should be maintain for each VA, because in case of disaster, the VA licenses and MAC
addresses may not be otherwise available.
This chapter describes the procedure for migrating existing VA licenses to a newly installed machine
and the Alteon VA recovery procedure in case of disaster recovery.
This procedure is detailed for the following hypervisor types:
VMware vSphere (ESX)
KVM
Microsoft Hyper-V Server

Note: Do not start the appliance before the procedure is completed. If the appliance is started
before the Linux UDEV sub-system recognizes the new MAC addresses and creates a new rule file, if
you later change the MAC addresses and start the system again, the UDEV will add the new MAC
addresses to the rule file. The new NICs will receive non-acceptable names (eth4, eth5, and eth6).

This chapter contains the following:

Replacing the Air Filter on the Alteon 6420 NEBS Platform, page 112

Replacing a Power Supply

This procedure details how to replace (hot-swap) a failed power supply module for the Alteon
platforms.
If a power supply fails, the platform activates an alarm, sends a syslog message, and lights the red
front-panel PWR LED.

Note: Before deciding to replace a power supply module, ensure that the problem is not with the
power source or power cable or connection.

Some Alteon platforms are available with only one power supply, and some platforms have,
optionally, two load-sharing power supplies:
If the platform has only one power supply and it fails, the system shuts down and a new power
supply must be installed and the power reconnected.
If the platform has dual power supplies, if one power supply fails it can be replaced (hot-
swapped) without shutting down the system.
This procedure is similar for both AC and a DC power supply modules (where applicable).

Caution:

Only experienced personnel should install or remove hardware components. Installing or

removing components incorrectly can permanently damage the platform.
To protect the platform and its modules from electrostatic discharge damage, make sure that
you are properly grounded before you touch any internal components. Radware recommends
using the grounding wrist strap that is included in the upgrade kit. The grounding screw on the
rear of the platform provides a chassis grounding point.

To replace the power supply module

1. Disconnect the power cable from the faulty power supply.

Caution: For a platform with dual power supplies, do not disconnect the power cable from the
working power supply, or the system will shut down.

2. Remove the screw of the power supply module that secure it to the chassis, lift the handle and
pull the module from the chassis.

For Alteon 4408/ platforms: Push the lever towards the handle and then use the handle to pull
the module from the chassis.
Dispose of the old power supply module properly.
3. Fully insert the new power supply into the chassis and replace and tighten the screw holding it in
place.
For Alteon 4408/ platforms: Fully insert the new power supply into the chassis until it clicks into
place.
4. Reconnect the power cables to the new power supply.
5. Verify that the green LED indicator on the power supply lights up and that the power supplys fan
is working.

Radware Ltd. End User License Agreement
By accepting this End User License Agreement (this License Agreement) you agree to be contacted
by Radware Ltd.s (Radware) sales personnel.
If you would like to receive license rights different from the rights granted below or if you wish to
acquire warranty or support services beyond the scope provided herein (if any), please contact
Radwares sales team.
THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT GOVERNS YOUR USE OF ANY SOFTWARE DEVELOPED AND/OR
DISTRIBUTED BY RADWARE AND ANY UPGRADES, MODIFIED VERSIONS, UPDATES, ADDITIONS,
AND COPIES OF THE SOFTWARE FURNISHED TO YOU DURING THE TERM OF THE LICENSE
GRANTED HEREIN (THE SOFTWARE). THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT APPLIES REGARDLESS OF
WHETHER THE SOFTWARE IS DELIVERED TO YOU AS AN EMBEDDED COMPONENT OF A RADWARE
PRODUCT (PRODUCT), OR WHETHER IT IS DELIVERED AS A STANDALONE SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT IT IS HEREBY CLARIFIED THAT THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT
APPLIES TO PLUG-INS, CONNECTORS, EXTENSIONS AND SIMILAR SOFTWARE COMPONENTS
DEVELOPED BY RADWARE THAT CONNECT OR INTEGRATE A RADWARE PRODUCT WITH THE
PRODUCT OF A THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY, CONNECTORS) FOR PROVISIONING,
DECOMMISSIONING, MANAGING, CONFIGURING OR MONITORING RADWARE PRODUCTS. THE
APPLICABILITY OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT TO CONNECTORS IS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER
SUCH CONNECTORS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO YOU BY RADWARE OR BY A THIRD PARTY PRODUCT
VENDOR. IN CASE A CONNECTOR IS DISTRIBUTED TO YOU BY A THIRD PARTY PRODUCT VENDOR
PURSUANT TO THE TERMS OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND THE THIRD PARTY PRODUCT
VENDOR, THEN, AS BETWEEN RADWARE AND YOURSELF, TO THE EXTENT THERE IS ANY
DISCREPANCY OR INCONSISTENCY BETWEEN THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT AND THE
TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND THE THIRD PARTY PRODUCT VENDOR, THE TERMS
OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT WILL GOVERN AND PREVAIL. PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND
CONDITIONS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE OPENING THE PACKAGE
CONTAINING RADWARES PRODUCT, OR BEFORE DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, COPYING OR
OTHERWISE USING RADWARES STANDALONE SOFTWARE (AS APPLICABLE). THE SOFTWARE IS
LICENSED (NOT SOLD). BY OPENING THE PACKAGE CONTAINING RADWARES PRODUCT, OR BY
DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, COPYING OR USING THE SOFTWARE (AS APPLICABLE), YOU
CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT AND YOU AGREE
TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT. FURTHERMORE, YOU HEREBY WAIVE
ANY CLAIM OR RIGHT THAT YOU MAY HAVE TO ASSERT THAT YOUR ACCEPTANCE AS STATED
HEREINABOVE IS NOT THE EQUIVALENT OF, OR DEEMED AS, A VALID SIGNATURE TO THIS LICENSE
AGREEMENT. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT,
YOU SHOULD PROMPTLY RETURN THE UNOPENED PRODUCT PACKAGE OR YOU SHOULD NOT
DOWNLOAD, INSTALL, COPY OR OTHERWISE USE THE SOFTWARE (AS APPLICABLE). THIS LICENSE
AGREEMENT REPRESENTS THE ENTIRE AGREEMENT CONCERNING THE SOFTWARE BETWEEN YOU
AND RADWARE, AND SUPERSEDES ANY AND ALL PRIOR PROPOSALS, REPRESENTATIONS, OR
UNDERSTANDINGS BETWEEN THE PARTIES. YOU MEANS THE NATURAL PERSON OR THE ENTITY
THAT IS AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT, THEIR EMPLOYEES AND THIRD
PARTY CONTRACTORS. YOU SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY FAILURE BY SUCH EMPLOYEES AND THIRD
PARTY CONTRACTORS TO COMPLY WITH THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT.
1. License Grant. Subject to the terms of this Agreement, Radware hereby grants to you, and you
accept, a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to install and use the Software in
machine-readable, object code form only and solely for your internal business purposes
(Commercial License). If the Software is distributed to you with a software development kit
(the SDK), then, solely with regard to the SDK, the Commercial License above also includes a
limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to install and use the SDK solely on computers
within your organization, and solely for your internal development of an integration or
interoperation of the Software and/or other Radware Products with software or hardware
products owned, licensed and/or controlled by you (the SDK Purpose). To the extent an SDK is
distributed to you together with code samples in source code format (the Code Samples) that
are meant to illustrate and teach you how to configure, monitor and/or control the Software
and/or any other Radware Products, the Commercial License above further includes a limited,
nonexclusive, nontransferable license to copy and modify the Code Samples and create derivative

works based thereon solely for the SDK Purpose and solely on computers within your organization.
The SDK shall be considered part of the term Software for all purposes of this License
Agreement. You agree that you will not sell, assign, license, sublicense, transfer, pledge, lease,
rent or share your rights under this License Agreement nor will you distribute copies of the
Software or any parts thereof. Rights not specifically granted herein, are specifically prohibited.
2. Evaluation Use. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this License Agreement, if the
Software is provided to you for evaluation purposes, as indicated in your purchase order or sales
receipt, on the website from which you download the Software, as inferred from any time-
limited evaluation license keys that you are provided with to activate the Software, or otherwise,
then You may use the Software only for internal evaluation purposes (Evaluation Use) for a
maximum of 30 days or such other duration as may specified by Radware in writing at its sole
discretion (the Evaluation Period). The evaluation copy of the Software contains a feature that
will automatically disable it after expiration of the Evaluation Period. You agree not to disable,
destroy, or remove this feature of the Software, and any attempt to do so will be a material
breach of this License Agreement. During or at the end of the evaluation period, you may
contact Radware sales team to purchase a Commercial License to continue using the Software
pursuant to the terms of this License Agreement. If you elect not to purchase a Commercial
License, you agree to stop using the Software and to delete the evaluation copy received
hereunder from all computers under your possession or control at the end of the Evaluation
Period. In any event, your continued use of the Software beyond the Evaluation Period (if
possible) shall be deemed your acceptance of a Commercial License to the Software pursuant to
the terms of this License Agreement, and you agree to pay Radware any amounts due for any
applicable license fees at Radwares then-current list prices.
3. Lab License. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this License Agreement, if the
Software is provided to you for use in your lab or for development purposes, as indicated in your
purchase order, sales receipt, the part number description for the Software, the webpage from
which you download the Software, or otherwise, then You may use the Software only for internal
testing and development purposes in your lab but not for any production use purposes.
4. Subscription Software. If you licensed the Software on a subscription basis, your rights to use
the Software are limited to the subscription period. You have the option to extend your
subscription. If you extend your subscription, you may continue using the Software until the end
of your extended subscription period. If you do not extend your subscription, after the expiration
of your subscription, you are legally obligated to discontinue your use of the Software and
completely remove the Software from your system.
5. Feedback. Any feedback concerning the Software including, without limitation, identifying
potential errors and improvements, recommended changes or suggestions (Feedback),
provided by you to Radware will be owned exclusively by Radware and considered Radwares
confidential information. By providing Feedback to Radware, you hereby assign to Radware all of
your right, title and interest in any such Feedback, including all intellectual property rights
therein. With regard to any rights in such Feedback that cannot, under applicable law, be
assigned to Radware, you hereby irrevocably waives such rights in favor of Radware and grants
Radware under such rights in the Feedback, a worldwide, perpetual royalty-free, irrevocable,
sub-licensable and non-exclusive license, to use, reproduce, disclose, sublicense, modify, make,
have made, distribute, sell, offer for sale, display, perform, create derivative works of and
otherwise exploit the Feedback without restriction. The provisions of this Section 5will survive
the termination or expiration of this Agreement.
6. Limitations on Use. You agree that you will not: (a) copy, modify, translate, adapt or create
any derivative works based on the Software; or (b) sublicense or transfer the Software, or
include the Software or any portion thereof in any product; or (b) reverse assemble,
disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive source code (or the
underlying ideas, algorithms, structure or organization) from the Software, in whole or in part,
except and only to the extent: (i) applicable law expressly permits any such action, despite this
limitation, in which case you agree to provide Radware at least ninety (90) days advance written
notice of your belief that such action is warranted and permitted and to provide Radware with an
opportunity to evaluate if the laws requirements necessitate such action, or (ii) required to
debug changes to any third party LGPL-libraries linked to by the Software; or (c) create,
develop, license, install, use, or deploy any software or services to circumvent, enable, modify

or provide access, permissions or rights which violate the technical restrictions of the Software;
(d) in the event the Software is provided as an embedded or bundled component of another
Radware Product, you shall not use the Software other than as part of the combined Product and
for the purposes for which the combined Product is intended; (e) remove any copyright notices,
identification or any other proprietary notices from the Software (including any notices of Third
Party Software (as defined below); or (f) copy the Software onto any public or distributed
network or use the Software to operate in or as a time-sharing, outsourcing, service bureau,
application service provider, or managed service provider environment. Notwithstanding Section
5(d), if you provide hosting or cloud computing services to your customers, you are entitled to
use and include the Software in your IT infrastructure on which you provide your services. It is
hereby clarified that the prohibitions on modifying, or creating derivative works based on, any
Software provided by Radware, apply whether the Software is provided in a machine or in a
human readable form. Human readable Software to which this prohibition applies includes
(without limitation) Radware AppShape++ Script Files that contain Special License Terms. It
is acknowledged that examples provided in a human readable form may be modified by a user.
7. Intellectual Property Rights. You acknowledge and agree that this License Agreement does
not convey to you any interest in the Software except for the limited right to use the Software,
and that all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including any and all associated
intellectual property rights, are and shall remain with Radware or its third party licensors. You
further acknowledge and agree that the Software is a proprietary product of Radware and/or its
licensors and is protected under applicable copyright law.
8. No Warranty. The Software, and any and all accompanying software, files, libraries, data and
materials, are distributed and provided AS IS by Radware or by its third party licensors (as
applicable) and with no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including, without
limitation, any non-infringement warranty or warranty of merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose. Neither Radware nor any of its affiliates or licensors warrants, guarantees, or
makes any representation regarding the title in the Software, the use of, or the results of the
use of the Software. Neither Radware nor any of its affiliates or licensors warrants that the
operation of the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the use of any passwords,
license keys and/or encryption features will be effective in preventing the unintentional
disclosure of information contained in any file. You acknowledge that good data processing
procedure dictates that any program, including the Software, must be thoroughly tested with
non-critical data before there is any reliance on it, and you hereby assume the entire risk of all
use of the copies of the Software covered by this License. Radware does not make any
representation or warranty, nor does Radware assume any responsibility or liability or provide
any license or technical maintenance and support for any operating systems, databases,
migration tools or any other software component provided by a third party supplier and with
which the Software is meant to interoperate.
This disclaimer of warranty constitutes an essential and material part of this License.
In the event that, notwithstanding the disclaimer of warranty above, Radware is held liable
under any warranty provision, Radware shall be released from all such obligations in the event
that the Software shall have been subject to misuse, neglect, accident or improper installation,
or if repairs or modifications were made by persons other than by Radwares authorized service
personnel.
9. Limitation of Liability. Except to the extent expressly prohibited by applicable statutes, in no
event shall Radware, or its principals, shareholders, officers, employees, affiliates, licensors,
contractors, subsidiaries, or parent organizations (together, the Radware Parties), be liable for
any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages whatsoever relating
to the use of, or the inability to use, the Software, or to your relationship with, Radware or any
of the Radware Parties (including, without limitation, loss or disclosure of data or information,
and/or loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or business advantage, and/or business
interruption), whether based upon a claim or action of contract, warranty, negligence, strict
liability, contribution, indemnity, or any other legal theory or cause of action, even if advised of
the possibility of such damages. If any Radware Party is found to be liable to You or to any third-
party under any applicable law despite the explicit disclaimers and limitations under these
terms, then any liability of such Radware Party, will be limited exclusively to refund of any
license or registration or subscription fees paid by you to Radware.

10. Third Party Software. The Software includes software portions developed and owned by third
parties (the Third Party Software). Third Party Software shall be deemed part of the Software
for all intents and purposes of this License Agreement; provided, however, that in the event that
a Third Party Software is a software for which the source code is made available under an open
source software license agreement, then, to the extent there is any discrepancy or inconsistency
between the terms of this License Agreement and the terms of any such open source license
agreement (including, for example, license rights in the open source license agreement that are
broader than the license rights set forth in Section 1 above and/or no limitation in the open
source license agreement on the actions set forth in Section 6above), the terms of any such
open source license agreement will govern and prevail. The terms of open source license
agreements and copyright notices under which Third Party Software is being licensed to
Radware or a link thereto, are included with the Software documentation or in the header or
readme files of the Software. Third Party licensors and suppliers retain all right, title and interest
in and to the Third Party Software and all copies thereof, including all copyright and other
intellectual property associated therewith. In addition to the use limitations applicable to Third
Party Software pursuant to Section 6 above, you agree and undertake not to use the Third Party

opening the package of the Product, purchasing, downloading, installing, copying or using the
Software or any portion thereof, and shall continue until terminated. However, sections 5-15
shall survive any termination of this License Agreement. The Licenses granted under this License
Agreement are not transferable and will terminate upon: (i) termination of this License
Agreement, or (ii) transfer of the Software, or (iii) in the event the Software is provided as an
embedded or bundled component of another Radware Product, when the Software is un-bundled
from such Product or otherwise used other than as part of such Product. If the Software is
licensed on subscription basis, this Agreement will automatically terminate upon the termination
of your subscription period if it is not extended.
12. Export. The Software or any part thereof may be subject to export or import controls under
applicable export/import control laws and regulations including such laws and regulations of the
United States and/or Israel. You agree to comply with such laws and regulations, and, agree not
to knowingly export, re-export, import or re-import, or transfer products without first obtaining
all required Government authorizations or licenses therefor. Furthermore, You hereby covenant
and agree to ensure that your use of the Software is in compliance with all other foreign,
federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including without limitation all laws and
regulations relating to privacy rights, and data protection. You shall have in place a privacy
policy and obtain all of the permissions, authorizations and consents required by applicable law
for use of cookies and processing of users data (including without limitation pursuant to
Directives 95/46/EC, 2002/58/EC and 2009/136/EC of the EU if applicable) for the purpose of
provision of any services.
13. US Government. To the extent you are the U.S. government or any agency or instrumentality
thereof, you acknowledge and agree that the Software is a commercial computer software and
commercial computer software documentation pursuant to applicable regulations and your use
of the is subject to the terms of this License Agreement.
14. Governing Law. This License Agreement shall be construed and governed in accordance with
the laws of the State of Israel.

provisions shall be rendered void or invalid only to the extent that such judicial determination
finds such provisions to be unreasonable, illegal or otherwise unenforceable, and the remainder
of this License Agreement shall remain operative and in full force and effect. In any event a
party breaches or threatens to commit a breach of this License Agreement, the other party will,
in addition to any other remedies available to, be entitled to injunction relief. This License
Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties hereto and supersedes all prior
agreements between the parties hereto with respect to the subject matter hereof. The failure of
