My Dear Eastern Kentucky Pastors and Laymen,

Greetings in the Name of the Lord.

I have been reflecting this month on our year of ministry together on the Eastern Kentucky District. As Joni and I travel across
this great District we see hope, and potential, and faithfulness, and challenges, and successes, and the list goes on. God is and has
been so faithful to us all. We must continue to rise to the visions and dreams God has for each one of us and His Church. I com-
mend you and encourage you to lives of faithfulness and embrace the plans God has for us all. As Jer 29:11 says For I know the
plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. We
have seen good days of fulfillment as we celebrate what God has done, is doing, and will do. His plans are GREAT plans!

take advantage of the challenge given by our missionary and the fellowship of being together as churches. Joni and I look forward
to seeing you.
I want to encourage each church to do a church check-up on your year-end items. Where are you on your stats? Where
are you on getting ready for elections? Where are you on budgets?

Also please look at the calendar page for many other important events on EKD.

Alabaster Offering
History of Alabaster

In 1948, Rev. Elizabeth Vennum,

Global Council member, was asked
to think and pray about a challeng-
ing project for NMI. Rev. Vennum knew if God
wanted the project to take place, He would pro-
vide the plan. On the return trip from Kansas
City, God gave her His plan of giving "love"
Are You Ready to Make an Impact? gifts. It was modeled after the sacrifice of the
woman who anointed Jesus' head with expensive
perfume poured from an alabaster jar (Matthew
26:6-13).

At the Global NMI Council meeting in 1949,

Go the Nazarene Media Library to find videos Mrs. Vennum told of the Alabaster plan God had
search Alabaster. (https://medialibrary2.nazarene.org) given her. The Council unanimously adopted the
plan, and the first offering was received in 1949.

The Board of General Superintendents approved

the plan for Alabaster funds to be used exclusive-
ly for buildings and propert-ies in cross-cultural
ministries.

Now, more than 60 years later, Alabaster is still

strong, having provided more than 9,000 projects

have given over $100 million dollars for this
