ITV1 TO ITV rebrand article

In 2012 ITV1 wanted to rebrand there channel to just ITV and they
wanted to introduce a curvy logo across all of the channels. Rachel
Cooper wrote this article.

The new ITV logo is made to look like its hand written and this
makes the channel look more natural and life like to this audience.
According to Rachel the ITV logo would change colour depending on
which programme is on, this is a smart way of letting the audience
know what programme is on and will look for that colour for the
right programme on ITV in the future.

ITV had a transformation plan that they are looking to cut costs
and reduce the companys reliance on advertising.

The new ITV identity will be spread across all channels e.g. ITV2,
ITV3, and ITV4.
BBC news website

The BBC news website shows off the main news of the day
on the homepage. The website also has a lot of other
things to offer including UK news, world news, business
news education news and so on; this means that the BBC
have news for all types of people. The website consists of
the colours: red and white (which are the channels identity
colours.) This helps the viewers relate the colours to the
channel and then the colours connect to the website
therefore linking the channel to the website and creating
the corporate identify. On this website in the top right you
can it gives you the option to find local news meaning
that you can find news in your area therefore making the
target audience everyone in the UK because it allows
everyone to access news in their area.
Channel 4 website

Channel 4s websites homepage shows the channels most


popular shows and the upcoming shows for the day. Up in
the top left of the website you can see the multi-coloured
logo so that the website links to the channel and the
audience know the channel/website have the same
corporate identity. You can see here that the website has
many options e.g. watch live, categories etc. they options
for everyone. The colour scheme for the website has very
basic colours but the programmes have different colours
over them. The website even gives the option to put
parental controls on meaning that the target audience are
adults but people like teens/children are also the target
audience.
Sky 1 2008 ident vs. Sky 1 2016 ident

The Sky1 ident that came out in 2008 was
completely different to the recent 2016 ident.

The 2008 ident consisted of glass coming out of a


box while people are walking past and that glass
was making a 1for sky 1. The clear blue glass and
the clear blue sky stands for a newness of the
channel because the 2006 ident was the first ident
for the channel Sky 1, so they wanted to play off
the fact of using the clear colour blue to push the
fact it is a new channel.

The 2016 ident consisted of the number one


breaking out. The ident starts with just the normal
sky1 logo. The next step was that lasers were
cutting out the number one from the logo and then
it breaks out and lands on the ground (the number
one breaks the ground when it hits) from the
ground colours pop out all kinds of different ones.
The overview, by the sky ident cutting out the
number one gives off the meaning of someone
breaking free out of their hold. The way the
number 1 breaks out is freely and hits hard on the
ground with busting out colours conveys to the fact
that the channel has broken free.
CBBC website

The CBBC website has at lot of things to offer. From


the colourful hope page of the newest and the
most popular programmes or even a daily quiz.
The CBBC website has bright colours to catch the
eyes of the audience or who may be viewing the
website. The CBBC website also has other options
from games to play for the children or even a join
in option for the teens to have an open opinion on
either the latest channels or news. From the
website you can even get into other BBC held
channels such as cbeebies or the BBC news
websites. Overall this type of website will appeal to
the target audience which are young
teens/children.

Sky sports 1 ident review


This sky sport 1 ident isnt the best ident as it just
a short ident of old premier league winners. For sky
sports 1 this poor because for a channel that show
all sports they only show football in this ident
instead of a range other sports. Another weakness
is that it is favouring one football team so they are
leaning towards one side.

The strengths are that the way the film is put in


slow motion so making the ident passionate and
eye catching. Another strength was the voice
speaking over the ident that made it sounds very
manly which is their target audience.

target audience the ident is strong in some parts
but very weak in the others.

Throughout this whole rebrand of the CBBC channels logo and its
HQ, mostly people are talking about how the new logo is more
abstract than the other previous logos therefore CBBC may have a
new design the specialise in this area. My thoughts are that the
new CBBC channels rebrand is so much better than the old one
because it stands out more and catches the audiences eye/target
audience.
