Job Purpose

To conduct a thorough examination/testing/Certification of the lifting equipment and

Pressure Vessels to ensure safety of the personnel/machineries for efficient operation.

Key Accountabilities

Assess the requirements for each examination, load testing, hydrostatic testing to ensure accurate assessment of
specific equipment.

Oversees that the Non Destructive Testing (NDT) method is carried out in testing the various lifting equipment
components/ machine elements and accurate assessment of the test results are recorded to warrant the components are in
safe condition.

Attends lifting equipment/ pressure vessels (air receiver) breakdowns and unplanned examination/testing task with
minimum direction/ supervision and conducts repairs within the time constraint given to reduce production downtime

Orders spare parts and maintain records status of all the lifting equipment/ pressure vessels (air receiver)
inspected/ tested using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure that records properly
support a smooth operation.

Oversees all inspection/testing tasks to ensure they are conducted in accordance with the safety procedures and
plant operational requirements.

Assumes supervisor responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor/Mechanical Engineer, Inspection Services.

Leads the Technician, Inspection Services in conducting the inspection, testing and assessment of lifting
equipment and Pressure Vessels (Air Receivers and Alumina Tankers)

Monitors any repeated breakdowns/ problems of the lifting equipment/pressure vessels (air receivers & alumina
tankers) and conduct appropriate modification/ rectification to resolve the problems

Provides on the job training and enhances necessary the skills of the new technicians in order to conduct the
inspection/ testing task competently

Qualifications
 Engineering Degree / Diploma / Technical high school or equivalent in Mechanical /
Electrical Disciplines

Experience Required

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience related to lifting equipment

Job Specific Skills

Certified in Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Level II methods on Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and
Visual testing (VT) as per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A standard or equivalent

Must be familiar with the inspection/ testing procedures, standards and acceptance criteria of lifting equipment and
Pressure Vessels.

Trained in examination/testing of overhead crane, mobile crane and loose lifting equipment.

Must be familiar with the inspection/testing procedures standards and acceptance criteria of lifting equipment and
Pressure Vessels & Permit to work receiving authority.
