Lumbar Puncture

1. Look for the posterior superior iliac spine draw

imaginary line L4-L5
2. Clean with iodine concentric circle outward and
discharge
3. Twice iodine then alchol once
4. Insert needle angle of umbilicus until resistance is felt
5. 3 RED TOP 1 MICROSCOPE 2. CULTURE 3

1ml is enough for urine culture

1. position supine , 1-2cm above pubic symphysis midline

2. clean circular concentric circles from point of entry
3. 2 iodine and 1 alcohol
4. insert 90degrees perpendicular
5. aspirate as you go in until flash back
