Classroom Procedures

Warm Up: At the beginning of every class, students must be in class and ready to work
when the bell rings. Every day students will complete an assignment on the board called
a Warm Up. The Warm up can be in the form of a journal entry, questions, etc. This
assignment will be completed silently. If students finish early they may begin reading or
work on homework.

Bathroom Policy: All students will be provided with 6 hall passes to use at their
discretion for each nine weeks. Being that you, the student, are receiving a generous
amount of hall passes each nine weeks, once you have used all of your passes, you will
no longer be given permission to leave the class. If you use all of your passes, but must
go to the restroom, it is to your discretion to leave the class. However, if you do, you are
subject to being written up for skipping class and/or serving lunch detention. Therefore,
it is imperative that you use your hall passes wisely. BEFORE LEAVING THE ROOM:
Students must hand the pass to me and sign out. If I am teaching, please wait until an
appropriate time to ask. Do not interrupt me while I am teaching unless it is an
emergency. If you have any hall passes left at the end of the nine weeks, you may
redeem them for extra credit.

Assignment Policy: Homework assignments may be given on any day. New vocabulary
words will be assigned every Monday unless stated otherwise. If you are absent, make
sure you copy down the words from a peer or check Edmodo. Students must complete
homework assignments and be prepared to hand them in when asked. Any assignments
not turned in when the instructor collects the work will be considered late and will have a
late assignment penalty (points deducted depend on the type of assignment and how
many class days the assignment is late). Late penalty points is to the discretion of the
instructor.

Attendance/Tardy Policy: Union Middle Schools attendance and tardy policy will be
followed in this classroom. Please review the Student Handbook on the schools
webpage.

Make-up Policy

and notes
You will have two days upon your return to make-up missing assignments.
No exceptions.
1 Handouts you have missed will usually be on Edmodo or the back table.
Please check those places first before asking me for the handouts.
You will have until the end of each nine weeks to make-up tests. You must
