WSD Circular Letter No. 612015

Application for
Water Supply Pipes and Fittings Approval

Water Supplies Department (WSD) Circular Letter No. 612015 was issued on 3 1
August 201 5 to list out the agents/laboratories acceptable for certification or testing of pipes
and fittings for inside service or fire service to verify their compliance with the relevant
British Standards as required by WSD.

2. In accordance with the above circular letter, one set of cei-tification or test reports
from either one of the following agents/laboratories should be submitted to WSD to confirm
the co~nplianceof pipes or fittings with the relevant British Standards as listed on WSD
webpage when applying for approval for their installation and use in inside service or fire
service covered by the Waterworks Ordinance/WaterworIts Regulations:

(a) The British Standards Institution;

(b) The U.K. Water Regulations Advisory Scheme; or
(c) Laboratories accredited by the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme
(HOKLAS) under the following sub-categories:

/ Category I Sub-category 1
Construction Materials (i) Metallic materials
(ii) Pipes
(iii) Showers
(iv) Tapwares and valves

3. Project officers are reminded to observe the new requirements when checking
submissions of pipes and fittings for use in plumbing and fire service installations for projects
under construction stage.
