Divine Deliverance
in the Local Churches-
H E PRESENT WORLD-WIDE
T MINISTRY of deliverance is not
only for the sick and the,sinner; it is
also for the saint, the pastor and As-
sembly.
During the past six months I have
visited a number of c o u n t r i e s
throughout the world, in c 1u d i n g
Egypt, Palestine, Italy, Britain, Swe-
den, Denmark, Germany, Canada,
and the U. S. A. In these lands I
have met many pastors, laymen and
members of all types of Holy Ghost
Assemblies. All of them agree that
Christians, and even Spirit-filled be-
lievers, can be severely oppressed by
evil spirits. Many have told me of
their experiences in deliverance.
POSSESSION AND OPPRESSION
There is a vital distinction between be-
ing possessed by evil spirits and oppress-
ed by them. When a person is possessed,
. , it means that he loses control of himself

and t h e evil spirit has f u l l or partial
control.
Have we not met Christians who habit-
ually lose their temper? This can be the

work-of an evil spirit. Thank God, they
can be set free by deliverance!
Have we not seen Christians who are

bound by the smoking habit? Some o f

these have been filled with the IIoly
i Spirit and .lost the victory. Praise God,
they can be set free. Christians can also
be bound by fear, jealousy, envy, hate,
unforgiveness, resentment, and a hun-
dred other things. but none o f these
can resist the ministry of deliverance in
the power of the Spirit.
SISTER FHEE FHOiM LYING
I
Last year i n Australia I saw a sister
set free from a lying spirit. This woman
had received the gift of the Holy Spirit
several years before, but was backsliding
.. because of a defeated life. When she con-
fessed to lying, she was prayed for and
completely set free. IIer body convulsed
during deliverance and she seemed almost
to choke as the evil spirit left her body.
Jesus said, in Mark 16:17-And tlbese

m y name shall they cast out devils. . ,

In Melbourne I saw a sister set free
from a spirit of fear. She felt this thing
mme upon her in her unsaved days when

the Gift of the Holy Spirit she was still
plagued by this spirit of fear. Her life
was blighted and her nerves shattered.
One day during a healing wave, she knelt
down and cried aloud, Go, you evil spirit
of fear. She kept this up for some min-
utes, then her body stiffened, her head
went back and she gave a tremendous
gasp. This sister the:, shouted, Thank
you, Jesus. I t is gone. She broke forth
into speaking in tongues, laughed in the
spirit, and was set completely free.
How many Spiritrfilled Christians arc
tliere today who need a similar deliver-
ance from fear!
Thank God, the ministry of deliverance
is not only for the sinner. I t is also for
the saint. I t is a ministry for the local
church.

Oppression is different from possession
inasmuch as the sufferer is not controlled.
in this case, but is vexed and disturbed.
. When Spirit-filled believers allow their
health to run down, or are weak after a
big battle with the enemy,they are prone
to severe attacks of oppression. This
leaves them defeated, gloomy, despondent,
downcast, discouraged. and- weak. Pastors
and evangelists aye well acquainted with
this experience! Sometimes this condition
6an last for weeks or months. The longer
it lasts, the harder is the battle for de-
liverance and healing. However, there i s
victory for all! Here it is, from Acls

How many pastors, evangelists, teaclb
crs, and ministers are. there today who
need deliverance from oppression!
I had a remarkable cxperience along
through severe times of testing, ill-health,
and was seeking God for a deeper ex-
perience in holiness and sanctification.
Scorcs of things in my life which had op-
pressed me were brought to my mind
and then. I was completely released. I
hac1 a marvelous physical experience of
release a n d was able to name many o f
them. They oppress me no more!
God brought Lo light and set me free
from some sins of which I was not con-
scious. Among these was spiritual pride.
I t was one of the few times in my, life
when God spoke to.me and I heard His
Blessed -Voice.
How many spiritilal leaders today nc:ctl
to be cleansed from spirit.ual pride!
Thank God the ministry of deliverance
today is not for only the sinner. I t is for
the spirit-filled believer. the pastor, the
evangelist, the eldei, the deacon, and all
who are oppressed of t h e -devil. Many
who oppose this message are the ones
who need deliverance most o f atl!
DELIVERANCE FOR THE ASSEMBLY
In my travels I have seen many Assem-
blies that need a ministry of deliverancc
themselves before launching out to others.
When you go into the building there is
no revival power present. The faith is
low, the fire on the altar is almost out.
Thank God, this ministry can change an
entire assembly. In England a pastor was
burdened with,this message and preachctl
deliverance. Many miere filled with the
Spirit and revival fires burned brightly.

contents of this letter. I am enclosing a
small gift of thirty shillings (about $5.00)
to the Bible School, and am sending it
through you personally because I have
harboured ill-feeling against you sincc
July, 1952. A remark you made in the
course of one of your addresses seemcd a
disparaging remark about the people
from . . . , or so the enemy of souls made
it appear. At the time it went like a stab
to my heart, but it has grown, Im
ashamed to say. into a root of bitterness.
So much so that I could not think a kind-
ly thought of you. Now during prayer
this morning I was inquiring of the Lord
regarding Revival in this place, and He
seemed to s,ay to me Put right whats
wrong first. Of course, as I honestly
searched my heart I had to confess THIS
towards you was anything but right. and
so I am making a clean breast. Please
forgive me, brother, and pray for me and
for . *. . Your sister in repentance.
One cannot but be deeply moved on re-
ceiving such letters. I am certain that al-
ready the writer has been richly blessed
by the God of all grace, and who can tell
how far this may extend? Incidents like
this commence Revivals. It blessed and
humblea me also as I wrote and asked for
forgiveness for an offence committed all
unwittingly. One can be sincerely sorry
for the most unintentional wound given to
others.
In many things we offend all,! or, We
all make many a slip as Moffatt trans-
lates James 3:2. We preachers are of all
men most to be pitied in this matter. I t
is battle enough for our souls that we
have to contend with our common human
. Many people are asking what
m y plans are for the present
time. As 1 send this word of
greeting, Brother Gordon Lind-
say is here with me. W e have had
several hours of wonderful fel-
lowship together. l a m now send-

OF HEALlNG readers.
First, 1want to say that 1ani
usking God that by His grace 1
may stay humble in His pres-
ence and before the people. For
1think that the greatest need of
the day is for Gods servants to
stay humble and obedient to His

weakness that so readily injects personal
prejudice into our ministry; but the dou-
ble burden of us preachers is that so
often our hparers misunderstand us arid
clothe our w%rds with an offcnsivc signifi-
cance we never intended. For us it comes
with special force that If any man of-
fend not in word the same i s a perfect
man. Can such ever be a preacher?
The receiving of such a frank confes-
sion, either written or spoken, always
arouses in my mind an uncomfortable
query as to how many more people there
are walking around whom I have of-
fended, and they have NOT told me about
the matter. One fears that if our ministry
has been at all wide it may be more than
we care to imagine. Where they have gen-
uinely forgiven the slip the matter can
profitably be forgotten, but so often pcr-
sonal attitude and relationship will al-
ways remain impaired unless there has
been frank speaking. In many cases the
animosity lingers and sinks ever deeper
until, to quote my correspondents words

Whether the original matter of offense
was justified or not, the resultant bitter-
ness of feeling becomes a defiling thing
to an increasing circle. and- cannot but
grieve the Spirit of God and hinder t h e
freedom of His working. I t is a universal
fact of all true Revival that this kind- of
thing is among the first to be dealt with
by the Holy Spirit when time is given .to
importunate prayer.
The matter seemed to me specially :
suitable for reference in this column bc-
cause of James 5:7.6-.Confess your faults
one to ariother, and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed..It would be very
mistaken to attribute all failure among
,
Christians in receiving. Divine Healing to
neglect of the mutual confession.of -faults.
But it is equally mistaken to think that
the plain word in thismatter can be ig-
nored with impunity. J. B. Phillips trans-

should get into the habit of admitting
your sins to each other, and praying for
each other, so that if si;kness comes to ..
you you may be healed.
After considerable experience of these
things I think I am prepared to affirm
that more harm has come to us from re-
aptitude in that direction. gw

THE GREAT PHYSICIAN.
At the funeral of Captain Pierce, Pas.
tor Leonard W. Doolan related the fol.
lowing:
Years ago on one occasion something
went wrong at the mine. When the diffi-
cult task of repair was completed h e was
so overcome by .fatigue and exposure
that he had a congestive chill. He was
hurried to the home of a near relative.
Jn that sparsely settled country no .doc-
tor could be had f o r hours especially
on a- dark stormy night which was then
coming on. They packed him about with
ice to reduce the high fever then knowri
to be exceedingly dangerous. He felt surc
that the end. was near and, with his rela-
tives, earnestly prayed that relief might
come and above all did they pray that the
Great Physician (Jesus) might come.
Shortly aftcr their season of prayer.

to hear a knock at the door. When i t
was opened, there stood before her an
cxceptionally dignified gentleman, well-
dressed despite thefurious storm through
which h e must have come. He explained
that in the darkness and driving rain that
he liad turned aside from his way, and
\vished to stay for the night. She told
liim that, with such sickness then in the
home,, it was not convenient to them;
but that she could not turn him away
out into a raging storm. He replied: Yes,
I know you have a sick man here, and
thats one reason I came, and as I am a
doctor of some experience, Ill help you
10 curc him. Let me see him now, if you
please. On entering the sick room, all
saw instantly that the newcomer knew
whereof he spoke. Stranger still, he asked
for a t u b of hot water (instead of the
ice they had used) and then ordered them
all to withdraw while he treated thc
patient. Capt. Pierce said that though hc
then weighed some 225 pounds, the guest
handled him alone. as if he were but a
babe. Aftcr a thorough hot bath, the
stranger s i n g l e h a n de d wrapped . Bro.
Pierce in a blanket and.replaced him 011
his bed with the words: You will sleep
well now, and be well by morning. He
was. then shown to his guest-chamber,
and as usual, in that lonely mining place,
the doors were securely locked. As all
went well with sick and strong alike.
they all slept well till sunrise. On investi-
gation it was soon found that the guest-
bed had not been used, and---strangest
of all-the stranger had departed in the
night, leaving all doors barred on the i n -
side. None ever knew who he was. or why
or whencc hc camc in such a timc and
way, but they always believed that it was
a visit of the Great Physician who had
heard and answered prayer. W h y might
it not have been?

GOD FOOTED THE BILL FOR
M Y BIBLE SCHOOL TRAINING
Another young lady and I wrre doing
pioneer work with no remuneration, ex-
cept to meet expenses and barely exist
besides.
I t was at this time that the Lord spoke
to my heart about attending.Bible school.
I then wrote for information to a school
to which I felt the Lord was leading me.
To my great joy, they were willing to ac-
cept me On Faith, expecting me to p r a ?
i n the necessary funds.
The opening date drew nearer and
nearer until at last it arrived. Still I had
none of the articles necessary and not
even the money for my fare. Had God
failed, o r was I just dreaming? Hadnt
God called me to Bible School after all?
I decided to stay up all night and pray
about the situation. The devil whispered
that I was crazy and that I had made a
fool out of myself by telling folks I was
going to Bible School. He said, See, God
didnt do it at all! Then the Lord spoke,
askiiig me if I believed He had promised
to send me. I said, Yes, Lord, and He
told me t o g b to bed as it would .be un-
belief to beg all night for something. He
liad already said He would do.
The next. morning was Sunday and the
Holy Spirit to& complete chargc of the
morning service. After the service many,
folks came t o me saying God had spoken
to them to help me and they were eager
to speed mc on my way. In a couple of
clays I was enrolled a s a studeii.tat East..
o.n Bible Institute.
It was then my intentions to get R
job in order. t o secure the money for my
second years tuition, but this was not
Gods plan. Instead, I found myself la-
boiirine in a little outstation work .with
110 remuneration except for a little pin
money. but T was contented to do Gods
will.
As the Fall term drew near, I longed
to return to Bihle School, but surrendered
my desires to His will. Then I-received
the wonderful news that my tuition had
been paid for the entire second term by
a lady whom I had never seen or known.
The third year I started for school with
only $1.03 in m y purse, without even
having sent in the fee for a room res-
ervation. I had no promise of help or no
backing, except God. When T arrived T .
was handed receipts amounting to $89.00.
Afterwards the money came in different .
I
amounts until all was paid and I never
found out whopaid any .of it.
God had proved Himself by Footing
the bill for the entire three years!
This is an actual experience that I h a w

Our vessel was on a African river.
and I had been drinking. While half
intoxicated I went for a swim, with-
out thinking of the dangers to which
T was exposed.
As I was swimming some distance from
the ship, an alligator made after mc.
Some of the crew saw the fix I was in
and fired at the formidable creature, but-
without effect. I t was getting near me.
and with all my might I made for the
shore. I was thoro!ighly sobered by m y
dangerous position.
When within a short distance from
some canes and shrubs which covered thc
bank, a furious tiger sprang a t me, thc
alligator being close behind me, h i s jaws
wide open to devour me.
Death stared me in the face, and the
sins of a lifetime appeared in an instant
before me, like an immense mountain.
With my sins came a recollection of my
mothers prayers, my fathers instruction.

velous way, and my life was preserved.

countered the monster at my heels. A
fight. took place, and the water was col-
ored with the blood of the tiger, whose
cfiorts to tear the scaly covering of the

his death. They both sank to the bottom.
Some of my mates had watched the
scene with deep anxiety, and when they
saw that I was. safe they rowed to me

I-IILE I was conducting a revival in
wRockwall, Tcxas, during the latter
part oixugust and the first part of S e p
tember, 1950, I called the people around
the altar for prayer a t 1O:OO P. M., Sep-
tember 2. As I was praying the Spirit of
the Lord came upon me in a wonderful
way, and I began to pray in other tongues.
In a few minutes I heard a voice saying
unto mc, Come up hither. I looked up
and saw Jesus standing with a crown in
His hands. He said, This is a soul-win-
ners crown. The crbivn was most bcauti-
ful and human language could never de-
scribe it. He said to me, My people are
so careless and indifferent. This crown is
for everyone of my children. I speak and
say, Go speak to this one or pray for that
one, but m y people are too busy. They put
it off, and souls are lost because they will
not obey me. I w e p t before Him and re-
pented of my failures. Jesus then said to
me, Come up hither,. and it secmed I
went with Him through the air till I saw
a beautiful City.
We did not go into the City, but beheld
it at close range. How beautiful and in-
describable it was. Jesus said, My people
are so selfish; they say they are ready
and talk about their mansion and the
glories of Heavcn while many all around
them are in darkness and havP no hope.

VISION OF HELL
Then He took me down to Hell and as I
beheld it, I said, Lord, it looks just like
it did when I saw it on April 21. 1933 at
7:30 P. M.,when I died and my soul went
to this place and You spoke and my soul
came back into my body. I then prayed
through and You saved me. Only now Im
not afraid nor horrified as I was then. I
saw what seemed to be hungin bodies
wrapped in flames. Jesus said to me,
Warn men and women about this plage,
and I cried out with tears that I would.
Then He brought me back to earth and as
He stood by my side, He talked to me
about m y ministry and told me some
things in general that He later explained
in detail in another vision. Jesus disap
peared and I realized I was still kneeling
on the platform. I heard people crying
and praying around me.

About that time, the Holy Spirit came
upon me again and I fell flat on my face
on the platform. As I lay under the power,
I saw a horseman riding at full spced to-
ward me. He held a scroll of paper high
in his left hand. I was not conscious of my
eartNly surroundings, but seemingly was
off in space sornewherc. When the hbrse-
man came t o me, he stopped; passed the
scroll from his left hand to his right then
handed it to mc saying, Take and rcad.

his right hand on my head a d said, Read

and thousands of men in uniform march-
ing to war. I saw many women, old, white
haired, middle aged and even young worn-
en with babies in their arms, bowed to-
gether in sorrow and weeping profusely.
I saw the skyline of a largexity and when
I looked again the skyscrapers were burn-
ed out hulls, the city in ruins. There was

written that not just one city would be
i h u s destroyed, but many. I continued to
read the scroll. It was written in the Erst
person and was just like Jesus Himself
speaking. He said, Amerfca is receiving
her last call.. Some nations have already
received their last call and will never re-
ceive another. THE TIME O F THE END
O F ALL TI-IINCS IS A T HAND, was
repeated at least four or Eve times. He
said also that this was the last great re-
vival.
GIFTS TO BE RESTORED
TOTHECHURCH -
All of the Gifts of the Spirit will be in
operation in the last days and the Church
will do greater things than even the early
Church did, and have greater power, signs
and wonders than were written in the
Acts of the Apostles. He said we had seen
and experienced many healings, but would
now behold amazing mirZcles such as had
not been seen before. More and more
miracles will be performed in the last days
which are just ahead, for He.said. It is
time for the Gift of Working of Miracles
to be more in prominence. We now have
entered into the era of the miraculous.
Marry of my own pooplc will not accept
tho moving of my Spirit and will turn-
back and will not be ready to meet Me at
my coming. Many will be deceived by false
prophets and miracles of Satanic origin.
But follow the Word of God and the Spirit
of God, and follow Mc and you will not be
deceived. I am gathering my own together
and preparing them, for the time is short.
There were several exhortaiions to watch-
fulness, to awake, to pray and not be de-
ceived.
THE 7 DAYS BEFORE THE FLOOD
Then He said, AS i t was in the days of
Noah, so shall also the comihg Of the Son
of Man be. As I finally spuke to Noah and
said yet ,seven days and I will cause it to
rain upon the earth forty days and forty
nights, and G e r y living substance that I
have made will I destroy from off the face
of the earth, so today I am speaking and
giving America her last warning aiid call
to repentance and the time that is left is
comparable to tho last s e v e n days of
Noahs time.

VISION O F TIiE THRONE
Those who were present at the time of
my vision said I rcad the scroll aloud for
about thirty minutes. I cannot recall all
of it at the present time. I handed the
scroll back to the rider and he rode away
in the same direction from which he had
come. Then I was conscious of the fact
that I still lay on the floor flat on my
face. I lay there in the glory for a few
minutes and then heard a voice saying,
Come up to the throne of God. Looking
up, I saw Jesus again and went to Him, it
seemed, right through the air. We came
to the throne of God and I beheld it with
all its splendor. I was not able to look
upon the face of God but only beheld H i s
form. I saw the rainbow around about the
thronc. I saw t h c wingcd creatures on
either side of the throne. They are pe-
culiar looking creatures and have eyes of
fire that look in all directions. I stood with
Jesus in the midst and He talked with me
for nearly an hour. I saw Him as plainly
as I ever saw anyone in this life and heard
Him speak. I will not go into detail as to
what He said to me for it concerns only
me and my ministry. The following ac-
count, however, covers thc main points.
PERSONAL MESSAGE
He said that He had called me to a spe-
cial ministry and had kept me through
the years. Though Satan had tried to de-
stroy my lifc many timcs, His angels had
watched over me and cared for mc. Hc
talked to me about some things that the
Holy Spirit had said to me almost two
years before. He showed me where I had
missed Him and doubted H i s dealings with
me. I fell at His feet and repented with
tears. Then He spoke about spcaking to
me again, this time by prophecy and also
by that still small voice in my heart. He
said that I had been faithful and believcd
and obeyed this second time and at that
time entered into the second phase of
my ministry. He said that I was now to
enter into the third phase of my ministry.
And if I would be faithful to what I-IC had
said to me; believe and obey Him, He
would appear to me again and talk to me;
then I would enter into the fourth and
final stage or phase of my ministry. He
laid His finger in the palm of each of my
hands and then laid His hand on my head
and said, Go, for I have called thee, sent
thee and given thec a special anointing
to pray for the sick. My hands burned
like I had fire in them. He said, When
YOU lay your hands on thc sick, lay one
hand on each side of their body. If you
feel the fire jump from hand to hand,
there is an evil spirit or demon in the
bod causing t h c affliction o r trouble.
Calfhim out in My Name. The demon or
demons will have to go in My Namc. If
the fire does not jump from hand to hand
it is a case of healing only. Pray for them
in M y Name; if they .will believe and ac-
cept it, the fire will leave your hands and
go into their bodies and drive out the af-
fliction o r sickness. When the fire lcavcs
your hands and goes into the body, you
know they are healed. I fell a t His feet
and cried out in tears, Lord dont send
me; send somebody else. Pleasc, dont
send me. Just give me a little church to
pastor, but dont send me; Id rather not
go, Lord, Ive heard so many of our own
ministers and folks criticizc those who
pray for the sick. Lord, just give me a
common-placc ministry.
THE LORDS REIWKE
Jesus rebuked me and said, Ill go with
you and stand by your side as you pray
for the sick; and many times you will see
Me. Occasionally I will open the eyes of
someone in the audience and they will
say, Why I saw Jesus standing by that
man as He prayed,for the sick. I said,
All right, Lord, Ill go if Youll go with
me: Ill do my best and be as faithful as I
know how. There came a love that I had
never known into my heart for those who
criticize this type of ministry. I said,
Lord, 111 pray for thcm, for they dont
know, or they would not say the things
they do. Lord, Ive said similar things, but
L didnt realize nor seeas I do now, and
neither do they. Forgivc them Lord.
Then He said, Go thy way, My son;
fulfill thy ministry and be thou faithful
for the time is short. As I walked away
from the thronc of God, Jesus said just
another word or so-Be sure to give Me
all the praise and glory for all that is
clone, and be carcful about money. Many
of My servants whom I have anointed for
this type of ministry have become money
minded and have lost the anointing and
ministry I gave them. There a r c many
who would pay much to bc delivered.
Many parents in the-world have children
whose little bodies are twisted and thcy
would give thousands of dollars f o r their
healings. Many of them shall be dclivered
as you lay your hands on them, but you
must not accept a charge for your minis-
try. Acccpt offerings as you have been
doing. You must go your way; be faithful,
for the time is short. Jesus then journey-
ed with me back to the earth, and I real-
izcd that I still lay on my face on thc
floor. He talked with me there a moment
and then disappeared.
My hands burned for three days just
l i k e I had a coal of fire in them. Now;
when I wait upon Him in prayer and fast-
ing,. the samc anointing comes upon me
again.

AS I WRITE my testimony, I am hum-
bled, for in every experience I see the
miraculous hand of God or the familiar
foot-print of my Saviour by my side.
Glory to God in the highest.
MOTHER PRAYED FOR A SON
TO GIVE BACK TO GOD
You see, by all process of reason, I
should not be existing much less writing
this article. F o r there was a time when
the medical men examined my mother
and informed her that she would never
have another child. Oh, yes, she had chil-
dren but they all died. None lived very
long. A few days, weeks, months, and they
were gone. And now according ta the p h y
sician there would be no more,
Words would fail me to express her
feeling but every time I read of Hannah
in the Old Testament. I re-live her ex-
perience. F o r mother did just as Han-
nah of old. With the doctors statement
ringing in her ears, she went to church
and prayed. There she vowed to God that
if He gave her a boy, she would give him
back to the Lord as a minister for His
glory. Some say that miracles do not
happen today. However, I a m a living
miracle that refutes that teaching and
shows that miracles do happen today.
WHEN FIVE YEARS OLD
MY LIFE WAS DESPAIRED OF
At the age of about four or five, I took
ill and everyone despaired of my life. The
fever raged and I moaned and cried day
and night. Every cry left a new scar on
the heart of my mother. My parents be-
gan to seek the best medical help for
me. There were three doctors that exam-
ined me within a period of a few hours.
But one after the other had the same
thing to say, No hope. Your boy can-
not live any longer than twentyfour
hours. Once again my folks faced the
impossible. It was Sunday and I was get-
ting worse and my life was slowly ebbing
away. Frantically mother tried to call an-
other doctor, but one after the other was
out, or busy. Those that were there pre-
viously, only reminded Fer that it was
no use. What could she do?
HEALED BY THE GREAT PHYSICIAN
I n desperation, she wrapped me up in
a blanket and said, If no one will come
here, I will go to them. She started out
on foot, With a fever-ridden child in her
arms, and a broken heart in her bosom.
All offices were closed and no one would
give her a n audience. Still seeking, she
looked up and saw a church, and remem-
bered that this was the very place in

which she made her covenant with Him.
Also that I was a gift of God and a n
answer to her prayers. He gave me to
her, and now she had brought me back.
It was up to Him. He was her childs last
hope. If God would not undertake then
this was the end. She would rather have
me die in a church than in a doctors
office, so she entered to pray. When she
finished praying, she came over to where
I was and noticed that her boy was smil-
ing again. Wrapping me up, she carried
me back home, confident that the impos-
sible had happened again. I am a Iiv;?g
proof of that. Glory be to God.
MY BODY ATTACKED AGAIN-
PARALYZED FROM WAIST DOWN
Bear with me as I recount another in-
cident out of my life for the glory of God.
Once again I found myself bedridden and,
as a result of this new attack upon my
body, I lost the use of my legs. Yes, I
was paralyzed from the waist down, Ev-
ery time I looked into the face of my par-
ents, I could see their expression a s they
were asking themselves the same ques-
tion over and over again, Will our boy
ever walk again? This was another im-
possibility. I know what it is to look out
of the window and see other children
playing ball or tag, to see them running,
hiding, or climbing a tree, and there I
was, upon my cot, helpless. Many a hot
tear found its way down my cheek. Life
can seem cruel and fate a tryant, during
such a n experience. As clouds at times
rob the sun of its glory so also the glory
of God is hidden by tear-bedimmed eyes.
But we know that in spite of the clouds,
the sun is shining and the heart full of
faith knows that in spite of pain and
tears, there is a God on the throne Who
sees all and loves all.

AGAIN FAITH CONQUERED-
HEALED MIRACULOUSLY
So once again, faith conquered and
there was the happy day when I took my
first few steps. Only a few you say. Well,
yes, a few, but they were the promise
of more to come. My father often urged
me, in later days, when he saw me playing
ball, to take it easy. How could I take it
easy? Ha, I had to make up for lost
time. Can you stop a man who has been
blind and tell him not to look a t the
flowers so much; or a man who was deaf
not to listen to the birds? So, I had to
run, and run I did.
ENTERED THE MINISTRY-
BUT DENIED MIRACLES
One would think that a man with these
experiences would surely be a firm be-
liever in miracles and also Divine heal-
ing. But that was not so. You see, I be-
came the minister that mother wanted,
but, during my training a t the seminary,
rationalism crept in. Oh, yes, miracles
were in the Bible, but these things did not
happen today. I began to think that these
things were an exception and not a rule.
Years later, in the ministry, I Pobnd my-
self a physical wreck, my nerves shat-
tered by a break-down, sinus, ulcers, weak
eyes, and a hernia. Surely there was no
healing now, for I was a minister and,
if anyone should be healed, I deserved
to be, This was my theology.
WHEN I REPENTED-A HEALING
MINISTRY WAS GIVEN ME
Then reports began to trickle in. I
heard of William Branham and Gordon
Lindsay. I met people who were healed
through their prayers. Secretly I began
to fast and pray. I repented before God.
Then I decided to launch a healing cam-
paign in my own church. Many told me
that it would not work. People would
not go for it in our section. However, we
launched out in our first healing revival.
Our church saw the greatest revival in
all of its history. My people were healed.
I was healed of all my troubles. I realized
that truly Bible Days are here again.
The miracle-working God of my youth be-
came the God of this minister once
again. Now the rocks and stones were
transformed into monuments of Gods
grace and healing power testifying to all,

 as in the Bible times. that Hitherto hatli
the Lord helped me. As I write this, I
am thrilled beyond words. Think of i t ;
it happened to me.
Immediately after this visitation, God
began to deal with me about launching
out in a healing ministry. I accepted my
first such meeting about three years ago
in New York City. The prophets mantle
touched me and I followed him acmss Jor-
dans River. Now the question was,
Would I be able to come back the way
1 came? (11 Kings 2:9-14).
ASKED GOD FOR EASY C A S E S
A POND NOT A RIVER
I asked the Lord .to give me some easy
cases when my first prayer line was
formed. I wanted to try this mantle on
a pond. rather than a river such as
Jordan. I am so thankful that God did not
answer my prayer! When I looked up a t
the people, who had come for prayer that
they might be healed, the first man I
saw in line was the hardest case in the
building. He was a big man, suffering
from partial paralysis from his waist
down. Not able to kneel nor walk in
some lime, he was expecting God to
heal him. Here I was face to face with
Jordan itself. IIow this crippled man was
able to be.first in line, I will never know.
- JORDAN CONQUERED--GOD
HEALS THROUGH ME
Placing my hands on this man, 1
bound that spirit in Jesus Name and felt
the healing virtue flowing into his body.
Testing his legs, he found he could bend
them. The Spirit of God uttered through
me a command for him to run. What a
thrill lo see that man running up and
down the aisle with hands upraiscd, giv-
ing God the glory. Jordan had been con-
quered. Thanks be to God!
Thank God for this ministry of deliv-
erance. I a m happier now than I have
been in all of my ministry. My joy is not
founded only on the fact that it has
meant so much to me personally but be-
cause I have seen what i t can do for
others. Jn t h c past three years. I have
seen more people converted and brought
to God than in all of the past 13 years that
I ministered. Previously I wondered but I

SANCTIFICATION
There is a close link between these
two. While i t is not claimed that deliver-
ance is sanctification, nevertheless i t is
one of the channels which God is using
today. The believer who has been possess-
ed or oppressed in the past can, now live
a life of victory rather than defeat. He
has been set free from things which
bound him or oppressed him.
In some quarters the impression has
been given that once you received the Gift
of the Holy Spirit, i t was the end of the

road and you were now qualified f o r
heaven. However, in many cases it has
been found that it is the beginning of
the road.
Many spirit-filled believers have had a
difficult childhood. Parents were cruel,
conditions were hard, handicaps became
real and complexes crept in.
The psychologist and psychiatrist know
these conditions and do their utmost to
iemedy them. However, they have their
limitations because their ministry is not
necessarily in the name of Jesus.
The ministry of deliverance meets the
need as no other can. Where such needs
are apparent, there are several steps
which have been found very helpfd.
1. Confess the fault, sin. oppression.
weakness, o r whatever it may be that
hinders.
2. Plead the blood of Jesus and the
power of His Name.
3. Tell it to go from you in the Name
of Jesus and oppress you no more.
4. Stay there until i t is gone.
In some cases there is a physical mani-

festation. If the person is fully surrender-
ed, there may be none, but there will be
a great sense of release and relief. Very
often when the spirlt is set free. there
is immediately _ j o y i n the spirit, holy
laughter, and tongues of praise. worship
and adoration.
H o w many Christians today are bsttl-
ing over something in their lives for
sanctification when the ininistry of de-
liverance would give them victory!
There is no hindrance, weakness. sin.
fault, oppressim, complex, o r setback
which can resist the ministry of deliver-
ance today. Praise God for this mighty
weapon which can be in the hands of
every spirit-filled believer. Hallelujah.

E HAVE JUST CLOSED our
W first revival campaign with
Brother Stanley Karol. God moved
in our midst and moved through
the town. Many nights there were
more outsiders from the lmwn than there
were of our own folk. F o r this we are
grateful as it has been very hard to
break through in this community.
Many have been saved and 19 received
the infilling of the Holy Ghost according
to Acts 2:4. Also, many have received
remarkubk healings. All Sunday School
records were broken during the meetings.
Also, all records in the offerings for the
support o f the church and the evangelist
were broken. We are indeed grateful to
our Lord for these fruitful meetings.
The dynamic preaching of our Bro.
Karol reached every avenue of our lives
and the lives o f the unsaved and has
sowed good seed which will bring forth

Ever since an attack of measles
two years ago I had very weak eyes.
For that reason I entered your prayer
line. Although God touched my eyes,
my testimony has to do with another
unusual happening.
My work is such that I have to stand
on my feet and, due to this fact, my feet
were full of calluses and, without ex-
aggeration, I had developed about 15
corns. This gave me pain and no matter
what kind of shoes I wore they did not
help. All knew of this condition for the
topic of greeting and conversation was

Standing in that prayer line in your
tent in Williamsport, Maryland, I felt
the touch of God upon my body and my
eyes were better immediately. I went

in my knee. About six years ago I had
m y knee injured in the mines, which re-
sulted in a permanent injury. Because
of this my knee slipped out of place and
that necessitated my wearing a brace
night and day.
A doctors visit produced very little cn-
couragement . He said that the only thing
which could help me would be an opera-
tion. However he said that I would be
left with a possible stiff leg.
On July 22, I atteiided the tent meet-
ing in Hazelton, Pennsglvaniu, and had

sembly Of God church i n Youngstown,
Ohio. my small boy and I sat on the
front row. He coughed continually dur-
ing the services; had coughed like that

NTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO very
U few people in the Bay Area had
ever heard of Evangelist B. D. Ben-
nett; however, most of them know
about him and his party by now.
We were praying here for a revival
in our Chapel which is run in con-
nection with our Gospel Broadcast.
A lady drove in from Santa Rosa,
called us by phone and told us about
the Bennett Party and about their
' ous surprise on her face will never be
meeting in Santa Rosa. She said they
had two weeks open for meetings. I,
at oncc, asked t h a t Brother Bennett
come to see me. He did and we ar-
ranged for them t o begin a meeting
with u s on the following Sunday,
July 5th. The meeting continued
through last night, July 19th. It was
a short meeting, but a gloriously
sweet one.
F r o m the vcry first service Gsd gave
witness to the ministry of the Bennett
Party. Thdir music was full of spirit and
victory, and when Rev. Bennett opened
his Bible and began t o preach, he held
the airdielice spellbound. God gave great
witness t o the minzstry of this party!

sick from the very first service, and be-
lieve me, Cod wrought hiracles along all
lines in healing sick bodies, and man:tj
&mons were cast out,.with such obvious
manifestations that no one could doubt
it!
A woman with a. large goiter o n the
side o f her neck came up or prayer,
and after Rev. Bennett prayed, she went
back to her seat. By the time she sat
down she jumped up and shouted, "It's
gone, it's gone!" Praise the Lord, i t was
gone!
Another lady had lost the power of
smell for five years, and after Brother
Bennett prayed for her, he put a bunch
of flowers to her nose: the look of joy-
forgotten by the people in that service.
She followed that bunch o f flowers just
drinking in the sweet fragrance.
There were many very remarkable
cases o f deliverance f r o m demon posses-
sion. The great deliverances were too nu-
merous to tabulate here, but were won-
derful tu behold. Great numbers o f sin-
ners were saved, and people were Bap-
tized with the Holy Ghost all over the
place.
Rev. Bennett is an all-round Full Gos-
pel preacher, with a deep passion f o r
souls, and I have never seen a man with
a greater passion f o r the sick than he
has. The Bennett meetirig here was not
pre-arranged and we did but little advcr-
tising, except over our twice daily broad-
cast, but the building was full at all times
after the first few services, and during
the last week, standing room was in de-
mand, with many being turned away.
The entire Bennett Party are consecrat-
ed people who work hard and do a fine
job f o r the Lord. We could not continue
the meeting because of previous appoint-
ments by the party, but we will be glad
to have them come this way again when
it is the will of our heavenly Father.
THE VOICE OF HEALING, or any
other group with whom the Bennett Par-
ty is associated, may well be pmud of
them, for they are not only good prcach-
ers and singers, but they are also good
people to know personally.
We feel here at Radio Revival Head-
quarters that we have been greatly hon-
ored by having them with us. We have
all been greatly refreshed and blessed in
soul and body as a result of their having
been here. Oaklund will long remember
the great blessings brought t o us b y the
B. D. Bennett Evangelistic Party.

One day I found myself with a gun 111
my hand and leading a band of volun-
teers. . . . I became separated from the
main body of my unit and was lost in the
jungle. I then lifted my heart to God and
cried for mercy. Hallelujah! the Angel of
the Lord stood by my side and spoke
softly. He said, Relieve. obey, and the
Lord shall be with you. They brought
me down to Cartago. then in the hands
of the enemy, and I was placed under
guard. I began to read the Bible. -
Then something happened that changed
my whole plans. Your VOICE 0 F . H E A L -
ING fell into my hands. One day 1,founcl
myself reading it. Glory to God! I began
to tell my friends about the Full Gospel,
but most of $em thought I was mad.
Poor brother, they said, he is suffer-
ing the effects of the war, and is not in
his right mind. Then led by God, I went
into a Pentecostal mission. The pastor,
who does not understand English, gave
me a number of TVH magazines. This
gave me an opportunity to read to him
and others the great news of the revivals
and miracles. ,Soon the names of great
servants of the Lord were known to
many.
I organized a little band called The
Christian Revival Prayer League. Thc
Lord was with us and Port Limon saw
the beginning of a revival. One day I
found myself on my back with a heart
attack. Brother Stanley McPherson came
and prayed for me and I was healed.
I was praying and the Lord blessed me
with His promise. The pastors wife
brought her sick child and it was healed.
Others ca-me and were healed. That night
we had the grcatcst crowd i n the chapel.

I N R E C E N T M O N T H S there has been
a phenomenal increase in destructive
tornadoes which have taken the lives of
hundreds of people, destroyed hundreds
of millions of dollars worth of property,
and brought terror and tragedy to whole
communities. The big question is now be-
ing raised as to what is the cause of this
unusual rise in the incidence of these
storms. I s there a prophetic significance
in these great disturbances of the eartws
atmosphere? W e believe that there i s an
answer to these questions. I n this article
we shall take note of certain facts re-
vealed by the Scriptures which we believe
throw some light on this matter.
THIS YEARS DEATHS FROM
CYCLONES NUMEROUS
With the exception of the year 1925,
more people have died this year from
cyclones than in any year in history ; and
we have yet to go through the autumn
season! The destructive tornado has so
far affected no less than 30 states. So
great has been the destruction in Texas,
Ohio, and Michigan, that some of their
large cities have been declared disaster
areas.

A t Waco, Texas, only a short distance
from THE V O I C E OF H E A L I N G of-
fice, a cyclone leveled buildings as high as
six stories. This was the first time in his-
tory a tornado had struck the center of
the business district of a large city.
Two years ago, while our offices were
yet in Shreveport, Louisiana, a tornado
of great intensity passed a mile or two
south of our location. Because the section
traversed was just outside the thickly
settled area, loss of life was not so great.
Certainly the storm passied too close for
comfort. One can only imagine the hor-
ror that comes to those who have been
caught in the path of these whirling hor-
rors. Perhaps the greatest damage which
occurred this year was in Flint, Michigan,
where the path of the tornado left a
destruction worse than war. Here the
storm cut a destructive swath 1,000 feet
wide and five miles long!
THE WHIRLING HORROR
STRIKES TERROR!
I know something of the terror of
the cyclone. Some years ago in Central
Texas, on a spring afternoon, we looked
up at the sky and suddenly recognized,

in the distance, the whirling horror, a
tornado. The rolling clouds were to the
Southwest-just the direction from which
a cyclone comes. A t that moment the ad-
vance wind struck and we saw large ob-
jects being torn from their moorings and
go flying part us at terrific speed. I was
just a lad at that time and I, as well as my
companions, were not a little frightened.
Instinctively we jumped into our car and
headed down the highway away from the
direction of the whirling clouds. Behind
us, in the distance, a building blew down.
Despite our speed, debris was flying past
us on either side. Road signs had blown
loose and were flying through the air.
As we drove on, gradually the ominous
roar of the storm faded; but the cyclone
moving on erratically left death and de-
struction over a wide area. W e were un-
harmed, but we shall never forget the
experience of those few moments.
HAVE THE ATOMIC TESTS

longer in 1953 than in 1928 to buy the
same weekly supply of seven important
foods: bread, potatoes, beef, butter, eggs,
milk, and sugar. The Soviet worker, it
is also shown, has to work 67 per cent
longer to buy a pound of bread, 43 per
cent longer for a pound of beef, 244 per
cent longer to buy a quart of milk. This
is only a small indication of how things
will be whcn antichrist is revealed and
controls mankind. The present dictator
trend is preparing the way for the sub-
jugation of the masses (Read Revelation
13:16, 17).
