1. 1.1 NAMEPLATES (fig. 2)
The nameplate with electrical data is placed near the secondary terminal box; it reports transformer handling
pressure too.
There are P1 (H1) and P2 (H2) plates, on the transformers head:
? P1 (H1) indicates the conventional current input of primary terminal
? P2 (H2) indicates the opposite primary terminal.
Two nameplates show, respectively, the ground tap described at par. 1. 1.5 and this one inside the
secondary terminal box. A diagram plate is attached inside the cover of the secondary terminal box.
The primary ratio change diagram plate is applied inside the protective cover of ratio change.
FIG. 2
P1 (H1) PLATE

The transformer has a density gauge with accuracy class 1, which is supplied with electrical contacts for remote
control. Those contacts permit to check some variations of the gas density from a distance.
The density gauge is positioned so that it is protected against casual collisions.
The distinctive values of the pressure at 20C are always indicated on the electrical data plate.

1. 1.3 AUXILIARY CONTACT BOX
The auxiliary contact box is joint to the density gauge, so that they form a single instrument; this box has only one
gland (for users disposal).
See next table:
INSTRUMENT TYPE
BASE
In accordance with customers request, it is supplied an auxiliary contact box (with electric contacts) separately
from density gauge; protection level of this box is IP 54 (fig. 4).
There are two glands, one to connect the cable to the pressure measurement instrument (this cable is included in
the scope of IT supply), the other, type PG, according to users request for users disposal.
Theres a plate, inside the box, which indicates the terminals for the alarm signals for the minimum pressure

1. 1.4 GAS INLET VALVE
The gas inlet stainless steel valve is on the transformer base: it allows the filling with SF6 gas and the connection
of a gas checking instrument. The valve is positioned so that it is shock-proof.
During the service, this valve always must be closed with its covering cap, to guarantee a molecular seal.
Theres an earth clamp for 812 mm diameter cables on one of the anterior foot:
This clamp is used to ground the secondary terminal box.
FIG. 5a or FIG.
The epoxy resin secondary terminal is located in an aluminium alloy box on the transformer base.
Remove the aluminium protective cover to gain access to clamps.
Theres a screw stud (M8) for the grounding, which you can connect a clamp of the secondary winding of each
core. The screw for clamps connection are M6 stainless steel.

1. 1.7 PRIMARY TERMINALS
The TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 allows both the primary ratio change and the one secondary.
For primary ratio change, the transformer is sent in parallel connection, that can support the maximum allowable
current.
See chapter 1. 7.
The safety valve is a predetermined breaking system, located on the top of the transformer's head. It is a nickel
device and defends against any abnormal increase in internal pressure.
The safety valve neednt maintenance.

1. 1.12 INFORMATION ON HANDLING SF6 GAS
1. 2. SHIPPING
On arrival in the site of the contractual delivery, visually check the package on the truck and, after unloading,
check the goods, before time provided in the contract or in ten days, to find possible signs of damage or tampering.
During the inspection, pay attention to:
? the entireties of the package (on the truck)
? the porcelain insulators
? the secondary terminal box, because it can be damaged
? the protective caps of the primary ratio change
Also verify the presence of the gas inside the transformer through the gas inlet valve.
The device must be pressurised.
The transformer has been subjected to a vacuum process and SF6 gas filling, therefore an accidental or purposeful emptying can
compromise proper functioning.
WARNING:
For safety of persons and things, DONT MOVE THE TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 WITH INTERNAL GAS
PRESSURE HIGHER THAN 0.03 MPa AT 20C.
The internal gas pressure must always higher than atmospheric pressure, to avoid problems for the dielectric
tightness of the transformer.
If there are some damages, keep all the parts, including the package, notify the carrier and warn MAGRINI GALILEO.
Page 8
MAA 907 AE
1. 4. MOVING (fig. 8)
Move the apparatus inside its package as far as place of facility, slinging it as shown in fig. 8a and observing the
indications marked on the package.
The packed transformer must be moved in horizontal position. The unpacked transformer can be moved in vertical
position, slinging as shown in fig. 8b and using the proper holes on the base. To not overturn the transformer
slung, secure four lifting cables with a rope rolled up the lower portion of the head.
In any case, the SF6 internal pressure mustnt exceed 0.03 MPa at 20C.
FIG. 8a
FIG. 8b
1. 5. STORAGE
In case of storage of the transformers before setting them to work, keep them in vertical position.
If the transformers are crated, observe the symbols marked on the package; in case of storage of the transformers
unpacked, anchor them to ground appropriately.
In case the transformers must be stored for long time, check once every two years gas presence: in this case there
isnt a maximum time limit for the storage.
The outdoor storage is permitted and the temperature limits are the same as specified service conditions in the
contract.

1. 7.1 PRIMARY RATIO CHANGE (fig. 12)
The TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 transformer allows the primary ratio change with various connections, depending on
the number of ratios prescribed and on the value of the current:
The transformers are always shipped in the connection that can support the maximum allowable current.
If it necessary the ratio change, act as follows:
? unscrew the nuts of pos. 2, remove the cover showed in pos. 1, without damaging the washer of pos. 3
? make the connections as primary ratio change diagram plate shows.
It is convenient to clean the plates with an abrasive sponge when executing a ratio change. Grease the plates
immediately afterwards with Electat Grease 453 or vaseline.
FIG. 12
The three ratio permit the use of the apparatus with three levels of primary current, according to three connection
which are achieved by mounting the following fittings (fig 13):
P1 side
- three copper plates with two fixing holes
- two copper plates with three fixing holes
- M12 stainless steel nuts
P2 side
- three copper plates with two fixing holes
- two copper plates with three fixing holes
- one aluminium potential connection plate
- M12 stainless steel nuts

1. 8. BEFORE THE SERVICE
The SF6 gas filling takes place only when the transformer is completely attached to its support and before setting
it to work.
After mounting the proper filling tools, wash the gas inlet hose, letting the gas flow for a few seconds at pressure of
0.05 MPa.
Insert the hose into the gas inlet valve.
Always check the rated operating pressure indicated on the data plate of the transformer.
Pressure up to the value indicated plus about 0.02 MPa, and, after a few hours, verify that the pressure has
stabilised at the requested value; if it hasnt, put in more gas. For these operations use reading instrument of
pressure of each transformer.
Put the plug of the valve at the end.

2. SERVICE
2. 1. STARTING UP THE WARNING SIGNALS DURING THE SERVICE
The TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 has two warning signals of minimum pressure.
If first warning intervenes when the transformers working, it is necessary to discover the cause of it as soon as
possible.
Hypothesis for starting:
A) DECREASE OF PRESSURE BECAUSE OF A SNAP LEAK
B) DECREASE OF PRESSURE BECAUSE OF WRONG READING OF THE DENSITY GAUGE

12 screws of connection middle flange with the porcelain insulators
13 middle flange
If the previous operations have not been made and if the decrease of pressure makes second warning
unavoidable, the Client must stop the transformer from working.
Make the check as shown above.
However, it must be borne in mind that:
? THE RATED LEVELS OF THE FREQUENCY VOLTAGE AND THE LIGHTNING IMPULSE ARENT
GUARANTEED, WHEN THE VALUE OF THE PRESSURE GOES UNDER THE VALUE OF THE 2ND
WARNING SIGNAL PRESSURE
? THE TRANSFORMER IS DIMENSIONED TO EXERCISE VOLTAGE (PHASE-EARTH VOLTAGE)
TILL PRESSURE RELATIVE BECOMES 0 MPa.

2. 2. DENSITY GAUGE WORKING CHECK
FIG. 17
SAMPLE INSTRUMENT
? read the measurement of the density gauge (installed on the transformers base)
? if the measurement taken by the density gauge differs from the tabular one - considering accuracy class of both
instruments - replace the instrument as soon as possible.
Page 19
MAA 907 AE
Note:
If the density gauge shown, during service, an overpressure more than rated filling pressure, it could mean that the
gauge is in failure and shall be most probably replaced. Anyhow, perform a checking as described above.
2. 2.1.1 FOR CT NOT EQUIPPED WITH NON RETURN DEVICES TO DENSITY GAUGE
With the transformer off of service, the high voltage side and the alarm contacts not energized, act as follows:
? decrease the internal pressure till ~ 0.02 MPa: the recovered gas can be used again, if it suits IEC 376
standard.
If it necessary, purify and dry the recovered gas by available treatment system.
? disconnect the cables inside the auxiliary contact box (see fig. 18)
? dismantle the density gauge, removing the screws of pos. 1
? assemble the new density gauge
? connect the contacts for signal of gas
WARNING: gas in pressure must be present, inside the transformer. Make the density gauge dismantling and
assembling as soon as possible and before the transformer becomes empty to avoid the entry of air.
FIG. 18
GLAND OF THE
AUXILIARY CONTACT BOX
With the transformer off of service, the high voltage side and the alarm contacts not energised, act as follows:
? disconnect the cables inside the auxiliary contact box
? dismantle the density gauge like this: unscrew all the screws (pos. 1) about three turns, holding the density
gauge against the transformer. Remove the pressure exerted on density gauge and complete unscrewing the
screws
? to evacuate air from new density gauge, pressurize twice or three times, pressing it on the non return valve
? assemble the new density gauge like this: screw in the screws till the density gauge is not far from the
transformer; press the density gauge on the transformer and completely screw in two screws at least. Remove
the pressure and complete screwing.
? connect the contacts for signal of gas
Page 20
MAA 907 AE
WARNING: the transformer is pressurized. Make the density gauge dismantling and assembling as soon as
possible.
If it is necessary to move a TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 already in working condition (with rated internal pressure), the
instructions written on electrical data plate (installed on transformer base) must be rigorously followed: maximum
pressure for moving is 0.03 MPa at 20C.
Fall the internal pressure, using the inlet valve, so much that the indicate value is reached; the internal pressure
value reached must be higher than the atmospheric pressure.
The recovered gas can be used again, if it suits IEC 376 standard.
If it necessary purify and dry the recovered gas by available treatment system.
3. MAINTENANCE
3. 2. VISUAL INSPECTION
The TAGa 362 - 420 - 550 needs only ordinary external cleaning, depending on environmental conditions and in
accordance with the established cleaning cycle for other near equipment (circuit breaker, disconnectors, etc.).
In general, external inspection is enough to ascertain the condition of device.
While operating, a deposit (dust, soot, salt, etc.) is formed on the surface of tongues of the insulators and it can
reduce their surface tightness.
To clean these tongues special tools are not necessary, but you can wash them like other similar instruments.
Washing system that spray water upwards are good, so that the insulators are cleaned while working.
The visual inspection shall also concern a visual checking of all metal parts (corrosion) and any other mechanical
damages (cleaning, greasing and / or painting if necessary).
Every 6 months visually inspect component.
Gas humidity check is made by connecting the apposite instrument to gas inlet valve.
The humidity level must be less than 500 ppmv; if the humidity level is greater than this value, notify MAGRINI
GALILEO.
We recommend to check humidity every five years.
Page 21
MAA 907 AE
3. 4. SPARE PARTS AND DEVICES
As the apparatus are static and sealed, it is not necessary to store spare parts.
Tools (a set of wrenches and screwdrivers) and apposite devices for gas filling are necessary for installation and
maintenance.
If it necessary to require reports or further information or to order spare parts for this device, correspondence or a
rapid answer are facilitated if you:
? refer to the instructions, using the same terms and indicating paragraph, figure and position
? indicate the nameplate of the device, particularly the serial number
