Classroom News
Room 113 was so excited to welcome our new classmate, Glen, to Central this
week! We are also so excited to have Mad Science visit on Monday for a hands-on
Sun Moon and Stars in-house field trip! Please check the letter that went home
today about Valentines Day procedures and email me if you have any questions.
Semester 1 report cards will be available for viewing online on February 8. If you
would like to schedule a conference to discuss your childs report card, just let me
know! Thanks and have a great weekend!

 WORD WORK UNIT 7- Open Syllables
Open syllable- An open syllable has only one vowel and does not have a consonant
after it (e.g. go, me, we).

Y as a vowel-Y is a consonant when it starts a word, otherwise it is a vowel. Y as a vowel

says both the long e sound and the long i sound.

Y as a suffix- Y can also be a suffix like in lumpy. When y is a suffix, it makes the long e
sound.
