Details:
update_clients is located in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/
Example 1:
This update_clients script example can update all clients, or clients by hardware /
operating system (OS) type.
update_clients ALL ALL
This is the default if no options/parameters are specified and all clients are updated.
Example 2:
update_clients Solaris Solaris8
This updates only clients of the hardware / OS type Solaris/Solaris8.
Example 3:
This example updates a list of clients. The list must have the hardware type, OS, and
client name. The list is a file that is specified after the "-ClientList" option.
update_clients -ClientList /tmp/cfile
You can obtain a list of all clients with the appropriate OS and hardware platform.
Run /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpplclients -
allunique -noheader
This will generate a list of clients that you can choose from.
Here is an example:
PC Windows2000 dotto
NDMP NDMP filer
PC Windows2000 frontenac
PC WindowsXP help
RS6000 AIX5 kursk
Solaris Solaris8 megatron
PC WindowsXP test
HP9000-800 HP-UX11.0 clientd
SGI IRIX6 client4
RS6000 AIX4.2 client5
Now you would modify the file specified in the -ClientList option to include only the clients
you want:
/tmp/cfile contains:
RS6000 AIX5 kursk
Solaris Solaris8 megatron
PC WindowsXP test
HP9000-800 HP-UX11.0 clientd
SGI IRIX6 client4
RS6000 AIX4.2 client5
Example 4:
This example is used to update the Java binaries.
update_clients -Install_Java
Example 5:
This example is used to update the Java binaries by client name.
update_client -Install_Java -ClientList /tmp/cfile
The same format of the /tmp/cfile in example 3 can be used here. Again the format is
hardware, OS, and client name.
Example 6:
This example is used to install but not run a contingency check of OS and version
(typically used for Solaris/SunOS discrepancies when checking the UNAME output).
update_clients -Force_Install (you can also add the -ClientList option)
Other options:
Install_Client_Bins (used to install client binaries only, no Java)
