Full Draft #1 (at least five paragraphs):

Is football the brain injury risk? No, due to the long lasting impact of brain injury and
psychological detriments it causes during your middle ages. Although professional football pays
very well it may not be worth the risk. If you are physically talented there are other options with
lower concussion rates such as baseball and basketball and explain the hardships former NFL
players encounter in their middle ages.
Football by far has the highest concussion rate at up to 77 percent but varies depending
on the amount of time played. Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is the most common form of
brain disease, deriving from head collisions and is associated with memory loss, impulse control
problems, depression and eventually dementia in your middle ages. CTE has led some former
athletes such as Junior Seau and Dave Duerson to commit suicide. For some football may not be
worth the risk of an early self-inflicted death. Another issue with football and concussions is the
concussion risk for youth. Even Mike Ditka, a former player and coach The risk is worse than
the reward. Some people say that children should not be able to play football until they reach
high school. It would make high school football teams awful but it would eventually benefit the
mental health of football players.
There are a lot of professional sports and most pay more than football in the NFL. If
someone is physically talented and tall the NBA, on average pays $3.25 million dollars per year.
So if you are athletic and at least 6,3, why not try to make an NBA roster. The average NFL
salary is 1.9 million, even baseball players make more than football players and has one of the
lowest concussion rates in sports and if there are its either from a collision with a ball or fights.
You dont need to be significantly athletic to play baseball. The average weight among MLB
players is 190 pounds which is not from muscle mass, just be able to swing a baseball bat
efficiently and hit the ball hard.

Outline of My Argument

Thesis: I do not find a large concern surrounding the experiment of this dilemma. I think
Uber should be able to experiment with its customers if they are given prior consent. I also
think that the autonomous vehicles should be held to higher safety regulation in order to keep
passengers safe and avoid any moral issues.

Point 1: Uber should be able to experiment with passengers if given consent and stick to
morale guidelines. The program will be opt-in,...Uber customers getting an email asking if
they want to participate.

Evidence: The Experiment has seemed to follow appropriate guidelines. Uber has emailed
their customers for permission. And The definition of an experiment involves manipulation
and there is a moral concern surrounding the manipulation of humans in experiments. I do
not think that Uber is committing anything wrong but due to the rapid success of the industry
it is held to a higher focus point.

Point 2: Autonomous cars should be held to higher safety standards technology has major
limitations that can be very dangerous. Self driving cars have trouble seeing in bad weather.
Sudden downpours, snow and especially puddles make it difficult for autonomous vehicles to
detect lines on pavement and thereby stay in one lane.

Evidence: Since autonomous vehicles are a relatively new technology there are little
guidelines and many safety concerns. Since the locations of the experiments is in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania, where there are many bridges there has been an issue with the vehicles driving
off bridges. Pennsylvania also has very humid weather conditions and rain has been known to
throw off the cars sense of direction. So I think that in order to have a widespread of
autonomous cars in large cities there should atleast be guidelines if a rulebook cannot be
developed for a while. The use of autonomous vehicles should be decreased until some form of
a rulebook is put into effect for proper use.

Point 3: Concern with interactions between autonomous cars and manually driven vehicles
The vehicles also have difficulty understanding human gestures- for example, a crosswalk
guard in front of a local elementary school may not be understood

Evidence: Communication between the autonomous vehicles and humans need to be

improved in order for it to be used in large heavily populated areas. School zones is a good
example of an area of concern for autonomous cars. If the car cannot understand hand signals
from school zone traffic monitors a safety concern for children arises and anything that puts
the safety of a child in jeopardy would usually tension and prevent autonomous cars from
being used. Some kind of software needs to be implemented to understand gestures in order
to be used in cities that contain a school area or any city with a lot of pedestrian traaffic.

Conclusion: I do not find a large concern surrounding the experiment of this dilemma. I
think Uber should be able to experiment with its customers if they are given prior consent. I
also think that the autonomous vehicles should be held to higher safety regulation in order to
keep passengers safe and avoid any moral issues. Experimentation with consent of subjects
does not raise any moral concern so I think Uber should be allowed to do such things but the
widespread use of autonomous vehicles raises many safety concerns and use of the cars in
heavily populated areas should be delayed until the development of a rulebook or set of
guidelines.
