NARRATIVE REPORT

I remember learning about shapes and colors, the alphabet and the numbers
when I was in grade school. These were the basics of almost everything that we can
do now. Just about any field or profession wouldnt have been possible if we werent
taught that alphabet starts with the letter A and ends with letter T. Got you
there! Kidding aside, are ABCs and 123s all that we learned? We were taught how
to read and write and count but were we taught how to do teamwork? How to grip
on responsibilities? How to build influence?

In pursuit of harnessing skills and creativity, it is a great thing for us who

were enrolled in technical writing class to organize a seminar in fulfillment of the
course requirement. As a senior accounting student, being new and not too close to
lower years, I must say that I was able to convey influence and teamwork during the
preparation of the program. Certainly, positive influence to others starts from you
and its just a matter of initiative to lead.

Segregation of duties was initially implemented. Organizing the seminar is

one way of putting what weve learned in practice as we worked with requisitions
and arrangements with the speaker. We find it hard to do the decoration at first as
we cant get active participation from the other groups but through teamwork and
voluntary involvement of all JPIA officers, were able to finish the stage
extraordinarily.

Seminar then successfully commenced last January 28, 2017 at 9:00 am

through an invocation and singing of the Philippine National Anthem & PLTC Hymn.
It was enthemed: Paghahanda sa Kinabukasan: A Financial Learning Campaign for
Overseas and Beneficiaries. The theme was perfect to raise awareness about
financial literacy and management among students especially those who has
relatives working abroad like me. I was once a President of the Sons and Daughters
of OFWs (an OWWA affiliated organization) when I was in high school and I usually
attend seminars like this and I find it practical and relevant since money is always
an issue known to anyone.

Unfortunately, same date was scheduled for my cousins marriage which I

cant forgo. Despite of not attending to the seminar, Im happy hearing good
feedback about it. I tried asking my classmates to take videos I still was able to
grasp important information discussed during the lecture. Everything works fine and
program run smoothly as I expected. Miss Felyn Diclihon, the resource speaker and
a loan accountant of RBBI was also able to share experiences she learned from
actual work.
