The Flash: Truth hurts

(script/story)
A tragedy happens to one of Barrys closest. Reverse Flash reveals who he is.
Truth that is spoken hurts more people, than just Barry.

Barrys voice-over, supported with images of him running through the city, plus
what and who he is talking about:
Im getting faster. Much faster and I can now hold on and keep my new found
speed levels.
Maybe its because Im being haunted, terrorized.
The man in yellow, The Reverse Flash.
Since his first appearance eight months ago, he was destroying my life. And not
just mine.
There is also great probability, that he killed my mom more than 16 years ago.
Im wasnt fast enough to stop him and he likes to remind me that.
But I believe that its going to change.

STAR Labs, day.

Barry runs inside.
Cisco: Heyyy! New record Flash!
Barry gets happy: How fast?
Wells: As fast, or a bit faster than the Reverse Flash, if are our analyzes correct.
Barry gets excited. Thats great! We can finally take him down!
Caitlin: When he shows up, you should be able to reach him.
Cisco: And then you use the anti-meta baton to slow him down and VICTORY!
Everyone is excited.
Barry: Thank you guys, thank you Dr. Wells, this is amazing!
Wells: Youre welcome, but remember, Mr. Allen, that speed and baton isnt
everything.
Barry: Yes, thanks. Stay sharp and stay focused. Im excited!

Evening, dinner at Wests house.

The whole group, a family, is there: Joe, Iris, Eddie, Barry and Patty.

They are having fun while eating the dinner.

Then, RF speeds there.
Endgame is here, Flash! he says with his deep, distorted voice and then comes
to Eddie.
Not tonight. he says almost inaudibly and then snaps Eddies neck.
Barry, Iris and the rest: Nooo!
Then RF gets to Patty, but Barry grabs him and runs with him near a wall and
smashes him into it.
Barry: You bastard! Your gonna pay for this!
Then Barry starts beating him.
Joe: Barry! Stop! Dont kill him!
Barry hesitates for a second and RF smashes his hand into his chest.
Barry screams from pain and RF runs away.
Barry gets on his knees, gasping for breath.
Patty gets to him, while Joe goes to Iris.
She is on the ground, crying over Eddies dead body.
No, dad! This cant be true! she cries and screams.
Joe hugs her, not knowing what to say. Tears are coming from his eyes as well.
Barry, sad and angry, gets up and goes for the front door.
Patty: W-where... Where are you going?
Barry: To STAR Labs, to find him.
Joe tries to stop him: Barry, no! but he has already left.

STAR Labs. Only night security is there.

Barry speeds in with Cisco. He seems confused.
Barry swaps his card and they enter the building. Then he takes him and runs to
the main room.
Barry: Find him. Find Reverse Flash.
Cisco: O.K. whats going on? Are you kidnapping me now?
Barry: He killed him... He killed Eddie! Just like that, for fun or what!
Cisco is stunned by shock.
Barry breaks down, leans against a wall and then just slides on the floor.
Cisco is watching him, while turnin on everything.

Then he goes and sits next to him.

Cisco: I... I... Im sorry...I dont... know what to say.
Barry: I need to destroy him... Kill him if necessary!
Cisco cant believe it: Whoa! Revenge? Yes, of course. But murder? No, not
a chance!
Barry: He killed my mom... and now Eddie! He threatens everybody. He. Must.
Go!
Cisco: What then? Wheres the line? Line between who you kill and who you just
put away in Iron Heights. Hm?
Barry stays quiet.
Cisco gets up and goes to look at computer.
Cisco: Promise me, you wont kill him.
Barry: I... I promise. Where is he?
Cisco: Outside...
Barry gets up and gets to the computer. On a special map we see red particles
circling outside the STAR Labs building.
Barry goes out.
Cisco: Stay strong...

Outside of STAR Labs.

RF is running in circles, when Barry runs towards him.
RF starts running away and Barry chases him.
Barry is getting closer and closer and when he can finally get him, RF just
disappears in white light, that looks like portal for a second.
Barry stops and looks around. He cant believe he lost him again.
He starts screaming while he runs around the city. Image of Eddie being killed
goes through his mind.
Sudenly even he disappears in a white portal, just like the one RF disappeared in.
Barry finds himself running in some kind of corridor. Made of white light, yellow
and orange lightning and images from different eras of his life, for instance: Eddie
and him shaking hands; Eddie being killed and then his mom.
Barry is shocked, but he cant stop running. Where am I?
Then RF runs into him and they end up back in the city, going through the white
portal again.
Barry: What the hell was that?!

RF is silent. Just looking at confused Barry.

Barry gets mad and goes after him.
RF phases, so Barry just runs through him and then takes off.
Barry goes after him, but after a few turns, he loses him.
STAR Labs. Cisco is there, checking something on computer.
Barry gets there, Cisco jumps: Hey! You scared the hell out of me!
Barry: He ran away! Again!
Cisco: I lost his trail, but what happened there? You two disappeared in
a tachyon outburst for 22 seconds!
Barry: I... I dont know.

At Joes house.
Iris is grieving over Eddies body, Patty is with her and Joe is walking around the
house.
Then, RF comes in and grabs Patty. He smashes her into a wall which causes her
getting breath taken away. She start coughing immidiately as wel as gasping for
breath.
Iris and Joe are stunned, scared and angry.
RF to Patty: Dont forget what I told you.
Then he drops her.
Joe takes his gun and shoots three times.
RF catches the bullets and then looks at Joe. Dont make me end you now.
Then Barry gets home. He sees RF and immidiately runs to him.
RF grabs him mid-run, smashes him into the wall and then takes off.
Barry to Patty: Are you O.K? Did he hurt you?
Patty coughs. Only a little. She is still shocked and shivering though.
Barry: What happened here?
Joe: He came in, grabbed Patty and then talked bullshit.
Barry: Im sorry, I couldnt get him. Im not sure I ever will.
Iris over the tears: You must Barry, you have to find a way.

Later, two police cars and an ambulance are in front of Wests house.
They are taking Eddies body and checking Patty. She has huge bruise on the
back.

Joe to officer in charge: He just came... I dont know why or what he wanted. But
then Flash chased him away.
Officer: Thanks Mr. West. Do you want a protective detail?
Joe: Its O.K. I dont think they could hurt him. No offense.
Officer: I know, he is just like The Flash. Power-wise.
Then the policemen and ambulance leave.
Iris: When can we get his body?
Joe: Officer said in two days.
Barry to Patty: Im glad he didnt hurt you more.
Patty then remembers how he told her Dont forget what I told you. and then
what he told her: You will never be the love of his life. back at main square,
while fighting Rogues.

Morning, CCPD. Barry is going to the CSI lab, ignoring everything around him. The
whole world around seems faded, lifeless.
Allen! says Singh as Barry walks past him without noticing.
Barry shakes his head. Oh, hi captain, sorry.
Singh: What are you doing here? You should have at least a day off.
Barry: Right, I just need to get some things from the lab.
Singh: O.K. but then I dont want to see you here, allright?
Barry: Yes captain. Thanks.
Then Barry goes to the lab.
When he gets there, he gets to his work desk and pulls four vials, with some blue
substance in them, out of his locking drawer.
He puts them in a small box and then in his jacket. Afterwards he leaves the lab.

At Wests. Joe, Iris and Patty are there.

Patty and Iris are in living room, Joe is in his bedroom, reading something. He is
teared up.
Iris is working on some article, typing in her laptop. The name of the article is No
one is safe.
Patty is thinking. Immages of her and Barry, how in love they are, how much
great they are for each other are going through her mind. And then RF telling her,
she is not the love of his life.
Patty: Iris? Can I ask you something?

Iris stops typing. Yes, sure. What is it?

Patty: I dont wanna sound jealous or what, but I just cant get something out of
my head.
Iris: Reverse Flash got to you, right?
Patty: Yes. He told me a while few months back that I wasnt love of Barrys life.
I know weve been together for only like 9 months and that Reverse Flash is
psychopath, but...
Iris: But it still got to you. Thats what he reminded you last night, right?
Patty: Yes... And its crazy, cause now I feel bad even thinking about the
meaning.
Iris: Well... maybe because theres something about the way he says things.
Patty: What do you mean?
Iris: He sounds and acts like he knows everything, like he knows our faiths.
Patty: Faiths? You mean, like our future?
Iris: I guess... It seems like it from his interactions with Barry and...
Patty: And?
Iris: Eddie told me, that after dinner he wants to take me to the small park
nearby... And I found this, in his jacket before the ambulance took him.
Iris pulls out a small ring box and opens it - surprise, there is an engagement ring.
Tears start rolling down her cheeks.
Patty: Oh my god... Im so sorry! she tears up as well.
Iris: The worst part is... I heard what he said to Eddie... it was so silent, but
I heard it... NOT TONIGHT... and I think he was talking to me! she then starts
crying a lot.
Patty comes to her and hugs her. Im so sorry Iris, but hes a monster.
Iris over the crying: He... he called me... Mrs. West Allen few times...
Patty immidiately remembers his You will never be the love of his life. She just
shakes it of and hugs Iris even tighter. Hes just messing with us... she says.

Barry is walking through the streets, heading to Joes home. His home.
Images of him, growing up in that house, in that family are going through his
head.
As he is stepping into a more suburban area, he looks at the tall buildings behind
him.
His pupils shrink. On top of one of the buildings is RF.

Barry gets filled with anger and runs towards him. Im ending you NOW! he
thinks.
As he is running, he presses something on his wrist-watch and those open, with
his Flash suit flying out of it.
Barry dresses in super speed and gets to the buildings roof. RF is just standing
there.
Barry: Im gonna destroy you!
RF says: You will try. and then runs straight into Barry.
He tries to dodge, but RF still hits him and Barry is thrown of the roof.
He falls on a terrace, two stories lower.
He grunts and gasps, as he is trying to get up while speed healing. We hear some
bone cracking.
Barry somehow gets up, looks on all those terrified people there and then sees RF
on the next building, so he goes after him.
He is too far ahead! goes through Barrys mind as they are running up and
down on the buildings.
Then Barry pulls out one of the vials and drinks the substance.
He gasps for air and his eyes start glowing with blue/white scheme. His lightning
turns to that scheme as well.
He gets faster and closer to RF.
Then he runs right into him, smashing them both into a wall.
The wall breaks and they get inside, where they fall on the ground in between the
ruined wall pieces.
They slowly get up. Barry runs to RF (still with blue/white lightning and the eye
glow), grabs him and smashes him into another wall.
People who were there are screaming and running away.
Barry to RF: You wont get away this time! You wont get away ever again!
Then he starts beating him. Brutally. Kicking, punching, grabing and throwing
around. Everything while emitting the blue/white lightning all the time now (so
not only when running).
RF falls on the ground. Hes not vibrating anymore. We see blood coming from
his mouth (still no face shown, just the mouth).
Barry leans towards the wall behind him. His eyes stopped glowing, lightning
disappeared and he is tired.
You didnt beat me. says RF, now with normal, just exhausted, voice that gets
Barrys attention - it sounds very familiar.
RF takes off his mask and we see him from the back - blond hair.

It was me Barry. he says while Barry is in shock from the reveal.

Then we see RFs face - its Eddie. It was me all along. he says with a huge
grin.
Barry is stunned, shocked, confused. He slides on the ground, unable to process
the reveal.
No no no no no! Thats impossible! he says.
RF grins and says: Nothing is impossible for us, Flash.
RF gets up, Barry is still unable to process this.
Barry: I saw you die last night...
RF starts vibrating between two places and then a red and white lightning storm
appears for a second and there are two Reverse Flashes, standing next to each
other.
Barry (super shocked): What?
In another brief white and red lightning storm the second RF disappears.
RF: You saw die A VERSION of me.
Barry: Why?
RF: To destroy you and your life. That was the purpose of this! Almost three
years now, Flash.
Barry is shocked: Three years? Thats way before I even became the Flash!
RF laughs. From where I am from, youre just an old legend. And you would be
forgotten, if it wasnt for me!
Barry is confused, he doesnt understand what is happening.
Barry: I... I dont get it... Why would you do this?!
RF grins and says: Because you ruined my life. So I studied yours and decided to
hit where its gonna hurt the most. Your family. Present and the future one.
A weakness for us all.
Barry: Ruined? Your life? What are you talking about? WHO are you?!
RF: I... am Eobard THAWNE. And I was your legacy, untill your Kid ruined it.
Barry is even more confused, but now he gets up. I have no idea what youre
talking about.
RF: And thats the beauty of it, Flash. One day, you will.
Barry: But you wont be there to witness. Im gonna beat you!
RF laughs. You already did, Flash. But you cant stop me. And you never will!
After that, Thawne takes off.
Barry tries to go after him but he just trips and falls. What happened to my
speed? he wonders.

Wests house. Joe gets to living room.

Joe: Have you heard from Barry? He should have been here by now.
Patty: No, I didnt at it worries me too.
Then, RF gets there, mask still down.
Everyone: Oh my god...
RF grins and says: Arent you happy to see me?
Iris sarts tearing up again. No! Thats not possible! You cant be! she screams.
RF: Oh, but I am. And I always have been.
Joe: What are you, you son of a bitch?!
RF grins again: I am the one who got to your family. I am the one who got your
trust. ME!

Barry is still in the buildin, looking at the vials. Then a few yellow and orange
lightning beams go over his body, he smiles, takes a deep breath and takes off.
Yellow and orange lightning trail again.

Back in Wests house. Joe wants answers.

Why? he asks.
RF: To ruin Flashs life.
Iris gets mad over the tears: So why did you posed as Eddie?!
RF starts laughing. You have no idea, but yet you feel its true. Iris. West. Allen.
Patty looks at Iris, then back at Thawne. What are you talking about?! she asks.
RF pulls out something and throws it on the ground.
It opens a hologram, capturing video of a wedding. Barrys and Iriss wedding.
Everyone is shocked.
RF: Future is set.
As they are looking at the hologram, Barry gets in the house and hits Thawne
from behind.
He runs him into a wall, creating a huge crack in it.
RF: Now were talking!
Then they start to fight. Speed punches, speed kicks, dodging, grabbing hands
and trying to get the other one on the ground.

RF then catches Barrys hand, as he tries to hit him, and says: This is why I did
it, this is why Ill kill your mother! then he runs away and Barry goes after him.
Joe: What just happened?

Barry and Thawne ae racing throughout the city.

Barry has his hand on another vial. Image of him losing his speed for a while goes
through his mind.
Then an image how he was able to get RF. Barry pulls out the vial and drinks it.
Thawne is ahead, still with mask of. Hes not vibrating, but his eyes glow red.
Then Barry, with blue/white lightning and eye glow, gets next to him and makes
him trip over his foot that he put in front of him.
Thawne falls on the ground and does multiple flips over.
Barry comes to him and kicks him hard.
Thawne starts coughing and spilling blood. Youre losing control, Flash. he says
and points at Barry.
Thawne, while getting up: Enhancing your speed, not knowing what it does to
you? You never were more careless.
Barry gets to him and starts beating him. Thawne is defending himself and is
pretty good at it - stops almost every Barrys attack.
Thawne is able to get away from Barry by dodging his kick. Lets see how long
we can race? he says and runs away.
Barry, blinded with anger, still with white/blue lightning beams going over his
body and eyes glowing, goes after him.
As he is running, he pulls out the third vial and drinks it.
Not only his eyes, but his face is glowing now. It looks like if there was a strong
lightbulb in the mask.
The glow and the lightning together make the suit look blue(-ish), but only for
a moment.
Then the glowing stops, lightning becomes yellow and orange again and then
disappears. Barry trips and falls on the ground with a few flips. He is hurt from
that and cant get up.

Morning, STAR Labs.

Caitlin just did some tests on Barry.
Caitlin: You should be glad it didnt have any permanent effect.
Cisco: Yeah, what were you thinking?

Barry: I just wanted to stop him...

Wells: Risking your life, or this gift of yours... Look. I get it, I lost someone too.
But there are lines, we do NOT cross.
Joe is there as well. How did you even make that?
Barry: In CSI lab, when I had the time. I studied my powers plus I used some
stuff from here. I made it to help me get faster, but then, thanks to you all, I was
progressing naturally.
Wells: But it wasnt enough. Not enough to stop him.
Barry: Yes...
They all stay quiet for a while, just standing there.
Joe: Look, Barry, were not judging yue. We are just worried, thats all.
Cisco: Yeah, you werent yourself these days.
Wells: You cant lose yourself. No matter what are the circumstances.
Barry: Thank you. Eddie... Eobard... whoever, the Reverse Flash is now gone.
I hope we can get to normal before he comes back.
Joe: Do you think he will come back?
Barry: He will, Im sure of it.

Iris is in her and Wests house, in her bedroom.

She is looking at a photo of her and Eddie. Then, an image of Eddie in RF suit
comes to her mind and she throws that photo away.
After that, she puts head in her hands and exhales deeply. Image of her and Barry
having wedding goes through her mind.
She starts crying.
Patty is in her house. Thinking, about what happened the last two days.
Image of RF telling her to not forget, image of RF telling her, she will never be the
love of Barrys life. Barrys and Iriss wedding video. Her colleague, a partner -
Eddie Thawne, being the Reverse Flash.
These images go through her mind. She is desperate and doesnt know what to
do, so she starts throwing nearby stuff around and screaming.

25th century, luxurious house in a super futuristic world.

White lightning portal appears in the main hall and Thawne gets through.
He goes to next room, that looks like an office.
A womans AI voice welcomes him: Welcome home again, Professor Thawne.

Thawne: Glad to be back Gideon. And since the Eddie phase of my plan has
ended, Im gonna stay for a long time now.
Gideon: Im happy to hear it.
Thawne: Me too, I was getting tired of just occasional, short homecomings.

Barry is in his house, nervously walking across bedroom, back and forth.
He was calling Patty earlier, but she didnt pick up. He left her a message: Hi,
Patty its Barry. Call me when you get this. Thanks, bye.
Now he is nervous, because she told him she wanted to be alone for a while, so
she can process everything on her own.
Image of the hologram of the wedding video goes through his head. The fact that
Thawne called Iris as West Allen. The way Thawne spoke about who he is and
where he is from.
He has to be from the future somehow. as Cisco concluded earlier.
Then Barrys phone rings and he gets back to reality.
He picks up, without looking at the callers name.
Barry (excited): Yes?
Iris: Hi Barry, can we talk? In person. About Ed... about Eobard.
Barry gets sad and disappointed. Sorry, Im not sure if I can do it right now.
Maybe sometime else, O.K? he says.
Iris: Yes, no problem. Whenever youre up to it. Bye. and then she hangs up.
Barry puts his phone on a table and sits on his bed.
Barry doesnt even realize, hes being watched. A super tiny camera is in the
corner of his room.
Thawne watches Barrys struggle with reality in his office on a hologram screen,
grinning.
