MOLDOVA
The National Museum of History of Moldova is a place dedicated to the memory of the past; it
preserves, researches, and displays the most significant artifacts that have been discovered on the
territory of the Republic of Moldova from prehistoric times to the present.
Triumphal Arch
Triumphal Arch in Chisinau (formerly called Holy Gates , and under the Soviet regime - Victory
Arch) is an architectural monument built in 1841, situated on bd. Stefan cel Mare across from
the Great National Assembly. The plan is shape of a square and has two levels. Keeps height 13
m. The four pillars of the building was carved in Corinthian style. The upper level is decorated in
classic style. On the front is mounted a mechanical clock, illuminated at night but not
announced the exact time sound.
Monastery Capriana
One of the oldest monasteries in the Republic of Moldova is the Monastery Capriana. It is situated in
the village of Cpriana in the centre of ancient forest of Codri. The Monastery is located 30 km north-
west of Chisinau. Cpriana is a monastery located in a wonderful hollow surrounded by wooded hills on
three sides.
Soroca Fortress
Soroca is a town, located in the North-East part of Moldova, on the border with Ukraine. Due to
the Gipsy minority living there, it is considered the Roma capital of Moldova, and also known
as the Gipsy capital of the world.
