PREFACE

For the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to go

through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipments and

documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee

to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learn from school.

On the other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who

accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides additional manpower for a lesser labor cost

than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high

that they will cooperate.

Employers can use this internship strategy as a method in recruiting new

employees. Since the trainer or the supervisor can follow the trainees progress, he can

gauge based on performance, behavior and attitude if the trainee will make a good recruit

after the completion of his internship.

OJTs can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the opportunity to speak

their minds freely and without fear, they may be able to contribute significantly in

brainstorming sessions or research and eventually help improve the organizations

productivity. While training the interns, employers are in fact also teaching their

employees to process of guiding the trainees stretches their patience, develops teaching

skills and makes them more sensitive to the needs and mind set of the younger

generation. The course of supervision also teaches them how to share what they know

and be receptive to questions. Hence, the internship also becomes an avenue in training

for future managers of the company.

4

Accommodating on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to the

trainees but also to the companies that provide opportunities for this type of learning.

There is wisdom in the front lines. Such training can be an investment that will be

valuable to the company later on. This is also why trainees should take their internship

seriously as it can become a powerful tool and possibly even a source of recommendation

when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

PERSONAL

In my On-the-job-training my first time I felt

so excited with a little bit nervous, the work in the

Barangay was not easy. I thought I cant handle all the

responsibilities and all work. That the time I

challenge myself in all things that I do, my capacity as a

student and at the same time as a trainee. I applied all I have learned knowledge to all my

instructors and all the seminars that I joined it was helpful to me. Time passed by I started

felt comfortable in my work as a trainee because I already learned all the works that

should be done inside the Barangay.

WORK

The work in Procurement office was not easy in the beginning. I was new in

doing all around barangay work and I had to grapple with the routine activities it was a

very challenging role to me and to co- workers doing an actual barangay works and

engaging to different situations inside the barangay. Sometimes I assigned in the

barangay health center taking their physical health status by helping madam midwife.

WORKMATES
My workmates are the barangay health workers and some city budget staff they

are so humble and disciplined. All are hardworking and very approachable this is the
15

reason why I loved working with them. And it was not difficult for me to interact with my

co-workmates and do my job as well.

SUPERVISOR

My supervisor is very approachable, kind and understanding she taught me new

things about working in the barangay and oriented me before I Start doing barangay

works. Sometimes I also taught her some my knowledge that I learned in my school, she

is very cool willing to learn some things that she do not know.
CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

On The-Job-Training is a requirement for all graduating students to complete

their program. This serves as their training where they apply what they learned from the

best ways in developing our self-confidence and later on our knowledge will be develop

as a professional, we are starting to develop other hidden abilities and talents that we did

not notice before. Self-esteem will be continuing developing to the highest level as we go

on to our future.

There are some important things I want to recommend to some students who may

experience what I had experienced:

1 The student must be guided well in order for them to understand well the

instructor.
2 As a student we must listen very carefully to instructions of our supervisor.
