Dell SonicWALL Content Filtering Client

The Dell SonicWALL Content Filtering Client Dashboard allows you to view Content Filtering
Client data, notifications, status, and results. Users can also access help online and check log
entries. This guide describes the different Dashboard screens and actions of each screen.

Using the Content Filtering Client Page


The Content Filtering Client > Summary page contains the following sections:
Content Filtering Client > Summary on page 2

Content Filtering Client > Summary
The Summary section allows you to update a policy, view the status of the client, check when
the policy was last updated, and check when the last Enforced Client Policy & Reporting Server
(EPRS) report was sent. You are also able to view the status of the Content Filtering license.
Clicking the Update Now button at the top of the Summary page allows you to run an update
for the most current policy information.

Content Filtering Client > Notification


The Content Filtering Client > Notification section displays any vital notifications regarding
the Content Filtering Client.

Content Filtering Client > Results
The Content Filtering Client > Results page allows you to view the Websites that were
filtered. You can view the Time that the entry was filtered, the Category it was filtered under, if
the Website was blocked and if so, the Reason it was blocked, and the URL of the Website.

You can also view Websites filtered from a specific time period by selecting the value from the
drop-down list. Click the Chart View button to generate a Content Filter Report of the Top 10
Websites visited and Top 10 Reasons/Categories visited Websites were blocked.

Using the Troubleshooting Page
The Troubleshooting > Support page provides the following buttons to help you troubleshoot
any problems:
Visit WebsiteClick the button to visit the Dell SonicWALL Technical Support to access
Knowledge Base articles.
Send ReportThis button is used if you have contacted Dell SonicWALL Support to report
a problem and have to send the TSR from your Dell SonicWALL appliance. The TSR is a
.zip file that contains all the log files, registry key options for Dell SonicWALL Content
Filtering Client, and license and policy XML information that may be necessary for Support
to use to troubleshoot the problem. The TSR also contains the last report sent by the client
to EPRS, and any crash .dmp files. The .dmp files are deleted if the report is sent
successfully.

The Troubleshooting > Logs page allows you to view logs, the date and time of the log
message, the source or IP address of the system of the log message, and the log message.

Using the Drop-Down Menu


You can also use menu headings along the top of the Dell SonicWALL Content Filtering Client
screen to navigate around the Content Filtering Client window.
The following drop-down menu options are available for the Content Filtering Client:
Content Filtering Client drop-down menuAllows you to update the policy or clear all
notifications on the client.

Logs drop-down menuAllows you to view a text file of the Content Filtering Client logs,
or clear all logs from the client.

View drop-down menuProvides options for Content Filtering Client or Troubleshooting.
