1. Demonstrated practical experience and understanding of marine measurement in

an operation environment, the data produced and its application including
algorithms, calibrations and the ability to provide scientific guidance to marine
technical staff and the Bureau. *

2. Demonstrated experience and capability in research and problem solving,

particularly the ability to apply theoretical solutions to real world problems. *

3. Demonstrated ability in scientific computing, in particular strong skills in data

analysis and database design, and experience with systems required to run
operationally. Python, C++ and scripting in a Linux environment would be highly
regarded. *

4. Demonstrated professionalism and integrity with the ability to contribute as a

highly effective team member and proven record in producing results. *

5. Communication skills of a high order and a proven ability to form productive

working relationships with internal, external and international scientific colleagues
and a proven track record of scientific publications in this area. *

6. Understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices of the Bureaus Social
Justice Policy and a commitment to apply these principles and practices at all
times. *
