Running Start Organization, Star Fellow, January 2016- May 2016
Running Start is a highly regarded bipartisan organization that aims to get more women involved in politics. During each
semester 7 women are chosen through a highly competitive national process for the Star Fellowship. Star Fellows intern for
a female member of Congress, attend weekly seminars and leadership training sessions, and are mentored by high-level
politicians. Star Fellows learn to work across the aisle and are provided a stipend and housing on Capitol Hill.
Resilience Institute at Western Washington University, Research Analyst, October 2014- December 2015
Worked directly with Institute Director, researched seismic policies and mitigation techniques, created a California
Seismic Case Study showing the relationship between all major earthquakes and the legislation that followed them,
wrote curriculum regarding mitigation options for Unreinforced Masonry building construction for Disaster Risk
Reduction class (used as curriculum in Theory and Practice of Emergency Management class since Fall 2015) at Western
Washington University, expanded ideas about natural hazard mitigation by facilitating class discussion on resiliency.
Ray of Hope Summer Program, Group Leader, April 2014- August 2014
Ray of Hope Day Camp provides a safe and fun environment for children who come from abusive and/or low-income
households. Ray of Hope staff fundraise scholarships for children to attend camp, many of whom cannot afford summer
camp and are excluded from school field trips because of behavioral issues brought on by their home life. Managed and
mentored a group of 15 children, organized large group field trips and on-site camp activities.
