Intelligent Additive Solutions

for Todays Plastic Industry

In order to succeed in today's highly volatile and competitive plastics
market, compounders will need to secure an edge to stay ahead of the
competition. That edge will mean better performing products in less time
with lower overall cost. We believe that our customers should expect more
from their additive suppliers and realize more in terms of product, benefits
and value added services.

Struktol Intelligent Additive Solutions make plastics more processable and

that means more efficient manufacturing operations and stronger, more
durable products. Our additives are designed to provide excellent blending
and dispersion as well as lubricating process enhancements for the
compounder. These additives are especially efficient where highly filled
plastics are compounded. In some cases, they act as compatibilizers or
alloying agents while providing improved surface finish and mold release.

Many of Struktol's solutions are developed using an analysis of both our

customer's compound formulation and processing environment. Our
solutions are often customized to provide specific benefits to our customers
based on this analysis. While there are as many additive variables as there
are plastic compounds, Struktol's extensive R&D capabilities allow us to
formulate solutions that will enable you to stay ahead of your competition.

Cost Reduction
An injection molder making plastic coat hangers from recycled polyolefin was able to see a 2%
reduction in cycle time using approximately 0.5% of STRUKTOL TR 016 as an internal lubricant
and mold release agent. This 2% reduction in cycle time reduced his overall manufactured cost per
part by more than 2%, saving him a significant amount of money and increasing his annual
production capacity by a whopping 50,000 parts! In this case, an increased initial raw material cost
was easily offset by greatly improved production capabilities.

Struktol Intelligent Additive Solutions are the result of a partnering effort between our customers
and our sales and technical staff. While many compounders may be comfortable with their current
additive supplier, with the investment of a little time in analysis and testing of Struktol additives, the
return will be well worth the effort.
STRUKTOL Plastics Additives

TR 016 An extremely effective lubricant and wetting agent that can be used in a wide variety of polymer
systems. Also provides release characteristics.

TR 071 Similar to TR 016 except the calcium ion is replaced by a zinc ion. Works well in HIPS, PS and
color concentrates.
Ionic

TR 077 An efficient lubricant system that works extremely well in filled and unfilled nylon for
processability improvement and increased output rates.

TR 251 A blend of anionic and nonionic surfactants for areas where EBS is being used. An effective
dispersant and wetting agent for pigments and fillers in a wide variety of polymer systems.
TR 255 is the FDA version.

TR 041 A nonionic, ester-based wetting agent for polar fillers and pigments used for improved
Non-Ionic

dispersion and metal release. Contains no metal ions. TR 045 is the FDA version.

TR 044W Provides flow and metal release with little or no effect on physical properties in most polymer
systems. The best choice for polar or engineering resins. Very good heat stability.

TR 060 A unique compatibilizer and blending aid that reduces splay in colored and/or filled olefins.
Resinous

Extremely compatible with olefins and can be used to increase extrusion output rates.

TR 065 A high temperature compatibilizer which works up to process temperatures of 370oC. Excellent
for recycling and blending polymer systems, including incorporation of impact modifiers.

TR 121 Primary oleamide used as a slip agent in polyolefins. Its uniform bloom makes it a valuable flow
and release agent in thermoplastics and thermoset elastomers.

TR 131 Erucic acid amide used as a higher temperature slip agent. Its slower migration rate is beneficial
for printing films.
Amides

TR 141 Saturated primary amide which blooms in an invisible monolayer for surface appearance.
Improved surface in rotomolded compounds.

TR EBS Ethylene bisstearamide wax for a wide range of polymers used for improved dispersion of
pigments and fillers and viscosity modification.

Antioxidants DSTDP and DLTDP thioester secondary antioxidants for use in conjunction with phenolic
primary antioxidants in a wide range of polymers. STRUKTOL Morstille 18 DSTDP is a
pastille version combining unique handling capabilities and packaging versatility.
Other

V-Series Simple and complex fatty acid esters for use in a wide range of PVC applications. Act as
viscosity modifiers, metal release agents and processing improvers.

Zinc Stearate A high purity micro-bead or pellet form of zinc stearate. Used extensively in resin production,
