These two concept arts I had drew no thumbnails
for, the stairs I didnt even have an influence map,
I just used the stairway in my house from memory.

I dived straight into what I thought was going to

be my concept art, but they were generic and
lacked style or any actual painting in addition to
rushing.

So when it came round to doing the cellar I

planned and drew thumbnails and planned so I
knew how I was going to arrange and paint
everything.

This was the first concept art I did
for character, the problem with
this is like the environments she
was generic, she had no design
there was nothing special or
creative about her

It took me a while but I finally

understood what it meant to
design a character.

using shapes
to design the
face and still
hadnt found a
style of my
own that
suited me.

So I made errors with the daughter
and mother now trying the robot,
third time lucky. Doing some extra
research on character design I found
a section on designing robots - a
good start.

Robots are basically big moving

shapes. - (Tillman, Creative character
design). This alone is what made
everything click in my head. Along
with looking in the Robots Concept
Art Book at their character designs
which provided great influence.
