Why do the media play such a big role into how the elections
turn out? Take for instance the previous election. President elect
Trump had been all over the news throughout his campaign and
most of the time is wasnt even for a good reason. But why did he
win?

The media made Donald Trump look awful but yet he still
ended up winning. Over 80 million people tuned in to see Hillary
Clinton and Donald Trump faces off, setting a new record in the
sixty year history of televised presidential debates. This was by
far the biggest debate in history. Still, the post-debate coverage
on TV focused on Trump, partly because of surprising and
confounding comments he made on stage. You see the people of
America listen to the media. They interviewed Donald Trump only
because of the comments he had made that previous night.
Hillary got a lot of attention from the media but not nearly as
much as Trump.

Is there a rule for what the media can and cannot put out?
Here in the United States we have freedom of press. Throughout
the growth of technology we have adjusted some of the little
things that go along with that to protect our people. At one time,
it was an open question whether people who blog or use other
social media are journalists entitled to protection by media shield
laws. They are protected equally by the Free Speech Clause and
the Free Press Clause, because neither clause differentiates
between media businesses and nonprofessional speakers. This is
further evidenced by the United States Supreme Court who
constantly refused to grant increased First Amendment protection
to the institutional media over other speakers. For example, in a
case involving campaign finance laws, the Court rejected the
"suggestion that communication by corporate members of the
institutional press is entitled to greater constitutional protection
than the same communication by" non-institutional-press
businesses. So where does this lead us to when it comes to
debates? The press has every right to say anything they please
and sometimes it helps someone like Donald Trump.

Most media centers are a democratic mind set. So all the

media was against the republican nominee and thats okay
because it can either destroy or help that candidate.

At the end of the day we the American people let the media
take control of our everyday life.
